HealthRe: Kanu To Build Specialist Hospital For Heart Issues by Jerryjat(m): 5:25pm On Feb 25, 2013
Laila Ikeji: Kanu Nwankwo's Heart Foundation is about to build a specialist hospital in Nigeria purely to deal with heart matters and President Goodluck Jonathan will lead top Nigerians in the private and public sector to formally launch the Kanu Nwankwo Foundation on March 3.
Kanu Nwankwo has said the hospital would treat children from ages zero to 12 free of charge no matter the level of infection.

“Previously, the Foundation raises money to take people with heart conditions abroad for surgery and other treatments. This time we are going to build specialist hospital that would be purely for heart issues. It would make treatment cheaper as well as reduce the number of people going abroad for heart treatment thereby saving the country enormous foreign exchange,” he said

ogugua88: Gun Owners Get Discount At Virginia Pizza Shop

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — A Virginia Beach pizza shop owner is showing his support for firearm rights by giving gun owners a 15 percent discount.

The discount is given to anyone who brings a gun or concealed handgun permit to All Around Pizzas and Deli.

Owner Jay Laze tells news media outlets that he'd planned on offering the discount for a limited time. But he says the response has been overwhelming and he might make it permanent.

Since the discount began last Friday, Laze says 80 percent of his customers have brought guns into the pizza shop. He says one customer came in with an AK-47.

Laze is a gun owner and says he's always been a supporter of the right to carry firearms.

nwabobo: Israel successfully tests Arrow 3 missile interceptor
2 hours ago

Arrow 3 will extend Israel's multi-layered missile defence shield
Israel's defence ministry says it has carried out a successful test of its new missile interceptor system.

Arrow 3 detects an incoming missile, intercepts it and destroys it with a second missile above the earth's atmosphere.

Officials said the cutting-edge system had been designed to defend Israel from the threat of a strike from Iran.

Monday's test was conducted alongside US forces and is the first time the system has been tested.

Israel already has the Iron Dome missile defence system, which - officials say - intercepted up to 85% of missiles fired from Gaza towards populated areas during the conflict in November 2012.

Full implementation

Defence officials say that because the system will be able to shoot down missiles in space, it could cause nuclear and chemical warheads to disintegrate safely.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

Three cardinals reportedly discovered an underground network of gay priests
Pope Benedict announced Feb. 11 he would resign Feb. 28
The Vatican will not comment on the reports of the cardinals' investigation
The Italian media is reporting that Pope Benedict XVI resigned after receiving the results of an internal investigation, delivered in a 300-page, two-volume dossier, that laid bare a sordid tale of blackmail, corruption and gay sex at the Vatican.

The respected Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported Friday that the report stamped "Pontifical Secret," contained "an exact map of the mischief and the bad fish" inside the Holy See.

The newspaper said the findings of the nine-month investigation, headed by Spanish cardinal, Julian Herranz , with the assistance of Cardinal Salvatore De Giorgi, former archbishop of Palermo, and Slovak cardinal Jozef Tomko, was delivered to the pope on Dec. 17, 2012.

"It was on that day, with those papers on his desk, that Benedict XVI took the decision he had mulled over for so long,'' the newspaper said.

La Repubblica said the panel drew upon "dozens and dozens" of interviews with bishops, cardinals and lay people. It said the pope was kept apprised of the investigation in weekly meetings from April until December. The final, bound in red leather, is being kept in a safe in the pope's Vatican quarters, the newspaper said.

A similar story was carried by Panorama, a conservative weekly.

"What's coming out is a very detailed X-ray of the Roman Curia that does not spare even the closest collaborators of the pope," respected Vatican expert Ignazio Ingrao writes in Panorama. "The pope was no stranger to the intrigues, but he probably did not know that under his pontificate there was such a complex network and such intricate chains of personal interests and unmentionable relationships."

A Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, has refused to comment on the reports.

"Neither the cardinals' commission nor I will make comments to confirm or deny the things that are said about this matter. Let each one assume his or her own responsibilities. We shall not be following up on the observations that are made about this,'' Lombardi said, according to the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

In announcing his resignation Feb. 11, Benedict said that he no longer had the "strength of mind and body" to carry on. A conclave will select a new pope next month.

Lombardi has indicated that Benedict would meet with the three cardinals before stepping down Feb. 28, in one of his final private audiences.

La Repubblica reported that the pope would personally hand the confidential files to his successor, with the hope he will be ''strong, young and holy'' enough to take the necessary action.

The investigation was triggered last May when the pope's butler, Paolo Gabriele, was arrested and charged with having stolen and leaked papal correspondence that depicted the Vatican as a hotbed of intrigue.

The papers were published in a blockbuster book. The butler was convicted in October of aggravated theft, and later pardoned.

The three-man panel, according to La Repubblica, discovered an underground gay network whose members organized sexual meetings in several locations, including a villa outside Rome, a sauna in Rome's Cuarto Miligo distirct and even in a beauty salon inside the Vatican.

The gatherings, in turn, left them open to blackmail from people outside the Vatican, the report said, according to the newspaper.

La Repubblica quoted an unidentified man described as ''very close'' to the authors of the dossier as saying it contained information about violations of the sixth and seventh commandments, which forbid adultery and stealing.

The British newspaper, The Guardian, notes that the sixth commandment also "is linked in Catholic doctrine to the proscribing of homosexual acts."

The U.S. website, The Daily Beast, reports that investigative journalist Carmello Abbate went undercover with a hidden camera in 2010 in Rome to produce an expose called Good Nights Out for Gay Priests.

The scandal has erupted as the pope is clearing the decks of his pontificate, tweaking the rules of the conclave, finessing the religious rites used to launch the next papacy and making some eyebrow-raising final appointments before he retires next week.

The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano said in editions published late Friday that Benedict had signed a decree earlier in the week making some changes to the papal installation Mass, separating out the actual rite of installation from the liturgy itself.

He is also studying the text of a separate document governing the rules of the conclave, though it's not known if it will address the thorny issue of whether the election can begin earlier than March 15, by some interpretations the earliest the vote can start under the current rules.

And on Friday, the Vatican announced Benedict had transferred a top official in the secretariat of state, Monsignor Ettore Balestrero, to Colombia.

Some of the documents leaked in the midst of the "Vatileaks" scandal concerned differences of opinion about the level of financial transparency the Holy See should provide about the bank, the Institute for Religious Works. However, Balestrero himself wasn't named in any significant way in the leaks.

Lombardi said Balestrero's transfer had been months in the works, was a clear promotion and had nothing to do with what the Vatican considers baseless reporting.

HealthRe: Health Expert Warns: Any Food Eaten After 8pm Is Poison by Jerryjat(m): 12:54pm On Feb 25, 2013
godman01: PARTICIPANTS at the 4th Allure Vanguard Women on Wellness, WOW, seminar, got a shocker recently when they learnt that foods eaten after 8.00pm, were essentially poisonous to their body systems.

But the Guest speaker at the seminar, erudite Professor of Anatomy and Reproductive Endocrinologist, Dr Oladapo Ashiru, who dropped the bombshell counselled Nigerians and everyone in general, to endeavour to eat their meals before 8.00 pm, in order to maintain good health and avoid undue strain and stress to their digestive systems.

“Any food eaten after 8.00pm is poison, as the intestine shuts down after 8.00 pm. You should try to eat before 8.00 pm to avoid accumulation of undigested foods that are harmful to the organs,” Ashiru noted.

During the event, held at the Pearl Crown Hotel, Parkview, Ikoyi, Lagos, Ashiru, in his presentation entitled “Defying Age”, observed that the ideal way to go was to eat slowly, chew well and drink water 30 minutes to one hour after meals to allow the food be digested in its real state as water dilutes the nutrients.

“People often violate the rules of the body when they do not follow the law of nature. While it is natural that foods eaten should not go into the digestive system, swallowing our foods straight without chewing deprives the food from being broken down.

“Too much food and undigested food, lead to fermentation and subsequently, decay which eventually leads to other problems, as undigested foods poison the body and it shows in the skin. Advocating that “we must only supply the body what it can take”, he said the intestine is the root system of the human body that is responsible for the most common cause of systemic damage.

Listing factors responsible for promotion of ill health and aging, he mentioned food intake, environmental factors, such as diesel, gasoline, automobile fumes and radiators, as well as air pollution often caused by refineries, industries, waste.

But as a factor that causes aging, Ashiru singled out bad eating habit and food incompatibility as knotty problems.

He frowned at the adoption of foreign lifestyle and penchant for foreign foods. He discouraged the mode of preparation and manner of serving food at public parties, describing the trend as unhygienic.

Calling for introduction of food regulators, Ashiru highlighted the Mayr method which he said proves that by fasting, known as modern Mayr medicine, diagnosis can be made as most illnesses are traceable to the intestine.

He advocated for a Mayr therapy- a therapy that entails a re-orientation of eating habits and lifestyle.

“To cleanse the system, a manual abdominal treatment can be carried out to cleans the intestine, blood and fluid and consequently reduces pain, he said, while proposing that everyone should do an ASYRA test, do a 3-10 day detox procedure or intestinal cleansing. “These along with removal of environmental poisons will help regenerate and renew life,” he argued.

Editor, Allure Vanguard, Mrs. Remi Diagbare said the essence of the seminar was to enable participants make healthy lifestyle choices. “We are often so wrapped up in fashion and style that we forget that lifestyle is an important part of well-being. So we need to promote healthy lifestyle and that is what we are doing,” she said.

Christianity EtcPope Quit Over Corruption, Gay Sex Scandals by Jerryjat(op): 11:08am On Feb 23, 2013
Pope Benedict XVI resigned after an internal investigation informed him about a web of blackmail, corruption and gay sex in the Vatican, Italian media reports say.

A team of three cardinals were asked by Benedict to verify allegations of financial impropriety, cronyism and corruption exposed in the so-called VatiLeaks affair.

In December, they handed the pontiff a large portfolio of papers which was “an exact map of the mischief and the bad fish” inside the Holy See, La Repubblica said.

“It was on that day, with those papers on his desk, that Benedict XVI took the decision he had mulled over for so long,” said the centre-left newspaper.

RELATED: Contender For Pope Suggests Gay Priests To Blame For Church Child Sex Abuse

It said its article was the first of a series, Daily Telegraph reports.

Panorama, a conservative weekly, did not speculate about the motives behind Benedict’s resignation, but its story about the contents of the confidential report was broadly similar.

Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi refused to “run after fantasies and opinions” and warned reporters: “Don’t expect comments or rebuttals of what is being said on this issue.”

Lombardi said that the three cardinals had submitted their report privately to Pope Benedict, and it would be passed on to his successor, CatholicCulture.org reported.

The three prelates who investigated the “Vatileaks” scandal and prepared a thorough report – Cardinals Julian Herranz, Jozef Tomko, and Salvatore De Giorgi – will not be giving interviews or divulging details regarding the contents of the report, he said.

Cardinal Herranz, who chaired the commission, confirmed, “The Pope is the only person we have reported to on this question.”

La Repubblica claimed that in a lengthy report on the leaks, the cardinals had alerted the Pontiff to the existence of factions within the Roman Curia, including a powerful faction “united by sexual orientation.”

Some members of that bloc, the cardinals reportedly said, may be vulnerable to “external influence” because of their activities. The Italian newspaper said that the report shocked Pope Benedict and contributed to his decision to resign.
