I have a strong feeling its December too cause anything beyond elections.. A lot could change trust me..it would be a big gamble by those in power to let it exceed December.

Bro, u are right, absolutely right. What you said has been confirmed by many sources. Those shouting cancellation either have no sources or wrong sources.

They are shouting cancelation based on what happened with the 2016 Detectives recruitment that went south. Their case is quite different cause their names(Detectives) were never submitted to HQ after vetting.
This year all the names have been submitted to the HQ for all Cadres and God's willing would all be called up.

True. They've been submitted months ago.
All is left is fixing of the date for camp.

Leaving the call up till after elections is a big gamble in my opinion this present management won't be willing to take. The previous recruitment before an election year had their call to camp on December 14th 2014.

So a lot could still happen this year.

I heard something but I didn't believe it, so nobody should come and bash me.
I asked my friend who's at the state HQ here, he said its likely this recruitment won't work because of the change in DG. He said the new DG will conduct his own recruitment. The last DG already has the people he would want to employ so this one too will have his own people he will want to employ too.
So that's what he said but I said I doubt it would happen so.

All this media propaganda
The media are also part of the problems of this country.
Just sit back people.. The goodnews is coming soon..
The almighty list is still intact and waiting for the go ahead

Kaizer86:
Premium Times, an online media, is reporting that President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Yusuf Bichi, as the new Director-General of the Department State Security Services, DSS, has drawn the ire of senior officials within the key National Security Service, with many of them threatening to stop Mr. President’s re-election, come 2019.

It was gathered that the DSS Headquarters in Abuja, and field offices across the country, have been subsumed by an air of anxiety and volatility, since Buhari recalled Yusuf from retirement, and named him as the replacement for Matthew Seiyefa, on September 13.

Seiyefa’s removal by President Buhari, came a little over a month, after he was appointed by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

Seiyefa was the most-senior official at the time of his appointment, having enrolled in the Service in 1984. He assumed office with promises to perform his duties differently from his predecessor, who was infamous for his crude and controversial approach to law enforcement.

In his first two weeks as DG, Seiyefa’s soft reform efforts were already being felt with the gradual release of ‘illegally-detained’ suspects from custody, and the appointment of the Agency’s first Spokesperson in three years.

A few days before his removal, it was learnt that Seiyefa’s job was being threatened by top Presidential Aides, especially the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

When the Presidency announced Seiyefa’s removal, there was a whiff of resentment that Buhari took the decision not because Seiyefa was incompetent, but because he was not comfortable with a Southerner overseeing a crucial National Security desk, going into an election (2019 Presidential election) he had been so keen on winning.

After Seiyefa was sacked, the same group of concerned Leaders from the Southern and Central parts of Nigeria, accused the President of fueling ethnic and religious division in the country. They said that the President deliberately sidestepped senior Officers in the DSS, who were capable of being appointed DG, and recalled Bichi from retirement, because he does not believe in Nigeria’s unity.

Recent findings showed that Buhari faces the most potent threat to his re-election, from disgruntled elements deeply embedded in Nigeria’s security architecture.

In the first week of Bichi’s appointment, at least four DSS personnel at Director levels, in separate interviews expressed displeasure over the development.

Further interactions with additional eight senior and five junior Officers across different departments and directorates, confirmed the urge of grievance which Buhari’s decision cast on the Agency.

The officers complained that the appointment would greatly hinder their own career progression, with many who belong to the class of mid and late 1980s, fearing that they will not have a chance to produce a Director-General before they retire.

“Afakriya Gadzama (2007-2010), Ita Ekpeyong (2010-2015), Lawal Daura (2015-2018), and Matthew Seiyefa (2018), all belong to the same class”, a senior official said.

“Now all of them have been Directors-General, and no one from our generation has managed to get that high.”

Another Officer from Northern Nigeria, condemned Bichi’s appointment as threatening his own career, saying that, he would not forgive Buhari for bringing him from retirement.

“This man retired since 2015, he got a Security Consultant deal with Lawal Daura, that kept him near the SSS for two years until 2017, so why was he recalled three years after retirement?”

“I am a Northerner, and I do not agree with this move by the President, because it will destabilise the Service”, he said.

“We believe the President took this action to preserve himself in office, but we will ensure he does not get a re-election”, another SSS official at Director level said.

“In-between working for the opposition and frustrating the boko haram war, we will get him out of office.”

All the Officers spoke under anonymity, because they are still in the Service, and fear they could be targeted for summary dismissal or worse punishment, if named in the report.

Lol.. I wish y'all knew the amount of stress and work it would be to entirely cancel this whole recruitment process after all the funds used, exams and vetting that has been done on all those recruited..

I'm not here to convince or keep hopes alive.
But one thing I'm very sure of right now is that there's no cancelation option on the table and Infact anything could happen any moment from now.

That's all I can say.

Let me just chip this in. There was a compulsory cadre course that was implemented this year in the service. A training compulsory for all personnels of the service regardless if you are going for promotion or not this year and they've been going in batches.
So i guess that has been the major cause of the delay cause the courses are taking place in the training schools and the personnels are a lot. And we may mistake them for promotion exams but it's actually the course most of them have been going for. The recruitment is still fully on ground but no one knows when the call will come.
I'd advise you be prepared always.

And also to chip in, heiracy is not necessarily followed. Any personnel at the level of a director can be appointed as a DG
by the presidency and all the staffs ahead of the person appointed in heiracy are forcefully retired.
Kaizer86:

According to the gist the are happy because duara was more or less imposed on them in the sense that since it's supposed to follow heiracy, duara retired in 2015. And was broke back into acting civil service anyways let's watch this space this new man from what I hear is accepted by 80percent of Dss staffs and liked by them dating goes a long way to show. Let's hope he acts swiftly in our favour rather Dan hunt politicians

Daura was retired before 2015. He was brought back by baba in 2015 and since then turn the service into something else. And you are right, majority of staff like the new man and he's also very good at the job compared to Daura. Let's just hope as you say.

Your informants are top notch I must say my brother. Real first hand information. Apparently the office is now in better hands cause there were signs of jubilation at the headquarters as soon as the sack was announced. Seiyefa is more of a people's person in the command compared to daura. Let's hope the jubilations are extended to us soonest.
Kaizer86:
Matthew Seiyefa has been confirmed as the acting DG of DSS. He takes over from the former DG, Lawal Daura who was sacked by the acting President Yemi Osinbajo today following a siege of the national assembly by his men.

Matthew Seiyefa, who hails from Bayelsa State, had earlier served as the Director of the Institute of Security Studies (ISS), before he was moved to the DSS headquarters.
