Moaba: Good evening mothers. I've been in the anon mode since early July but I need to come out now. I was transferred at work to Lagos in February from Ibadan while I was 4months gone to a higher position that required me doing 3weeks travels to different parts of the country and 1week in Lagos. My husband is in Ibadan. I ended up becoming anaemic at some point (Ftm) and well at 8months, my family insisted I quit. I've been home since End of May till I had my baby early July. I recently started reapplying but I haven't gotten any offer yet. My husband insists we all stay in Ibadan as he doesn't think I can cope alone with d baby and work in Lagos (I've also realized that Lagos stress in not for the faint hearted). The reason for my Epistle is that I need a job in Ibadan. I have a B.Sc (2.1) and a M.Sc in one of the basic medical courses. I am however open to all offers if I can be trained as I learn fast. Please Ibadan mothers, help a bored mum. Housewife life isn't for me as I'm losing myself daily. Kindly contact me on damola.busari@gmail.com or pm. God bless you.
Phew!!! That was a long one. I feel much better already. Hi Moaba, I would suggest you take time to nurse your baby till at least 6 months before starting a new job. While you are at it, think of any other thing you can do in case the job does not come at the time you want it. You can entertain yourself with you tube videos on whatever you have always desired to learn but had no time for. Again, have you tried LinkedIn for job opportunities. Market yourself well with your profile. I'm sure you'll be smiling soon. Enjoy... |

I won't judge you babythug. Every woman has her tactics in dealing with her husband because she knows and understands him better. In your case, I guess you forgot to consider his kind of person/personality before forming the habit. Did you ever feel guilty when you collected the money cos if na me enh...I'll have used my mouth to confess in the course of gisting because of guilt feeling. Its hard to cover price inflation o. Now him finding out must have hurt him deeply because there is tendency to think you've not telling him whole truths etc. infact you don enter ya own Just get ready to hear him refer to this matter every time you're collecting money but bear it with patience. He will get over the pinch. babythug: Happy Saturday everybody! Trust we are all good? To those who got some kpekus, how una dey? To we who didn't get tonight is another opportunity to try lol
I thought of something this morning and felt we could all discuss it! I've recently* developed a habit of inflating bills for hubby and sometimes "embezzling" the said monies! I do it sometimes because I need extra cash which I don't want to ask for and sometimes just for the fun of it and because he's my Husband!
Anyway I got busted and he involved some third parties who of course really scandalized the whole matter and I really was embarrassed and it seemed like it was a totally unheard of thing ie for a wife to chop her husband's money!
I always felt if caught it would be settled under the "I'm your wife -diplomatic immunity"!
What are your thoughts? Was it sooooooo bad of me? |

myrygurl, whether plastic or wooden, once it is a wide toothed comb with rounded ends, it will work fine because it will pass through the hair gently and easily. in addition to what giddyperson wrote, start from the back and comb the hair tips first. myrygurl: Will try this method as well. As for the comb, I use plastic.. The screaming battle no be hear..lol

Hello Onegai, I enjoy DIY. is it possible to get a schedule of the upcoming trainings so it's easier to plan to attend. Many thanks. Onegai: If you really wanna DIY here, please mention my moniker from time to time. I have a "few" ( ) contacts in the creative industry and a lot of them are organizing small hands-on workshops (some are free). For example, there is a plein-air painting group that teaches how to draw/paint for free, and that is amazing for good DIYs. And there's this lady that does incredible stuff with paper (we have a paper DIY group, I'm actually supposed to demo something but laziness won't let me be great).
Here's a good place to start shopping for stuff: AB Artworld is Nigeria's oldest arts and crafts shop. They have a large selection of materials including books and videos, from cake decorating to photography to painting to quilting and knitting. And they will be stocking quality wool and yarn pretty soon (it should be ordered in by October/November). They have locations across the major cities (Lagos, Abuja, PH, Ibadan). When I was posting the Children's activity topics on the this thread, I got all my supplies from them (they do back to school sales).

Hello ftmum, What was your Lo's weight at birth? Was his weight plotted on the growth chart to help determine the percentile he falls into? Are you lactating well and is he latching on well so that he gets enough milk while sucking? If he's sleeping too much, you may need to wake him up at intervals so you can feed him. Some kids are lazy eaters. since you are on combined feeding, have you tried changing from NAN 1? it maybe that he doesn't like that brand of formula. From the little I know, those multivitamin drugs does not help a child eat better.(I stand to be corrected) It only supplements the nutrients that is lacking in their body system. For me, when my Lo wasn't eating well, I tried various breastfeeding positions and to my amazement, my LO sucks better while we both lie down. You can try changing positions and see what works best. Other sabi mamas will add their bit. Please I need your help oooo. My lo is 3 month plus, he is not eating well. He weigh 5.2 last week when he went for immunization . the doctor said he need to add up. But now he has gone lean ehn*sad* he is not eating well but he play alot, I mean alot, he plays too much and he sleeps so much. I breastfeed him but he just suck a little and will not take it again, I give him Nan1, same thing. He takes little then he will not take it again. I have been giving him Abidec multivitamin everyday I'm not seeing improvement, I just started giving him Afrab vite multivitamin today. Please mothers what how can we make him eat well.... Help me . Thanks. Sorry for the long post.[/quote] |

queensnow, (fearless agbo user )I understand your point. Up till now, I wonder why we get secretive about names of herbs that works for a particular ailment. Personally,I would have loved that the names of the herbs are listed which makes it easy to do one's research. Please can you list the contents of the agbo since you got it from a reliable source and it worked excellently for you. I'll appreciate it. Thank you. cc.Benignasweety |

Sissie: For mamas with babies that don't like bottles, not all babies like feeding bottles but you can feed breast milk with a cup, please feed gently and don't let it enter the nose.
Small cup with a side corner for safety. Check online for more information and safety concerns Are you referring to Doidy cups? do you know any shop that stock it in Lagos?

AlphaHandMaiden: I would be very surprised if formular did not contain iron and the usual vitamins/mineral. Such as calcium, zinc, iodine, magnesium, vitamins A, B, C, D, E & K and the like.
Some higher end brands tend to have other specialist formulations that they claim makes it superior or better than your usual formular it is very much like pregnacare, pregancare max and all the other pregnacare suffixes.... with every suffux is a price increase. It doesnt mean if you take the normal pregnacare your baby will come out with 2 heads and 3 eyes.
The difference may just be an additional ingredient or higher doses of the same basic ingredients so if aptamil for instance has 33% of your daily dose of riboflavin per serving, and sma only has 16% in it at half the price, if you cannot afford aptamil, you can buy sma and top up with multivitamins if you wish.
It is by no means saying sma is an inferior product because they are at least providing your daily minimum requirements. Anything on top of that is a bonus. Thank you ma for your explanation. God bless you more and more. |

I appreciate your feedback @hunniesuzie, @alphahandmaiden and @enque. You all addressed my concerns especially as it relates to brand and advertised ingredients. My question arose because I kept reading about using iron fortified formula for babies and looking through various brands, I found it difficult to make a choice. Alphahandmaiden, does that mean that when giving formulas that lack certain ingredients e.g. iron, the mother can supplement by giving multivitamin that contains iron to the baby? hunniesuzie, my mum gave me NAN while growing too. enque, we are still doing EBF. 4months don reach so I'm trying to prepare ahead of 6 months if we are well able to sustain the momentum. |

spiceeamiee: Thank you mamas for your input to my predicament. I'm sorry if i did I not respond to you personally. I'm beyond ragged out but I appreciate the kind gestures. We went to the hospital this morning and she was admitted. She has been under observation and series of tests has been run which all thankfully came back clear. The number of times she throws up has reduced from every fees to maybe once in 3feeds. She had a slight temperature earlier on but she is back to normal now. My phone has been switched off as the whole of Obinze town in Owerri has been calling me so hubby asked me to switch it off so they can call him. He has told them that we are in the hospital because of this Ice cream issue and when baby is out of the hospital and certified Ok, then we can visit the issue of apology or no apology but for now, anybody that is not calling to ask about the baby's well-being should stay away Happy to know your DD is doing better now. Babies are not toys o. 5wks wey your body never recover fully from childbirth not to talk of the baby. In some cultures, you don't even go anywhere until after 40days. Be diplomatic in the way you handle this issue of apology cos it seems they take it like you offended the whole family. You have expressed your annoyance already and they know it. Let your hubby face them. I'm sure he knows how to handle them. |

ebonyjoke: I feel so sad. my 15weeks old baby has lost weight due to purging. she has been drooling, always trying to put her hand in her mouth, bringing out excessive saliva wit rashes on her cheek. saw the doctor today and she maintains baby is too early to be teething. however my mum and others think these are signs of teething. doc says keep breastfeeding and keep her hydrated. Lo plays well. no fever. but still stools 4x in a day. n o loss of appetite. she feels so light in her hand .how I wish this purging can stop. Just as the doctor said, keep her hydrated. I suppose that will be with ORS and baby zinc if you are not giving her ordinary water yet. Also make sure she's breastfeeding well. Again, was a test conducted to really check for fever? or it was just assumed since she's playing well and not running temperature? sometimes, baby feeling light does not mean they are loosing weight except if the scale reading proves that which means you have to monitor that over a period of time. she'll be fine. Well done. |

It's better to find out why she stopped feeding well first. Please visit your pead and do a check up for her. You never can tell, she might be ill. I went through same with my DS and to my dismay he tested positive to malaria despite using treated net. Also, it's too early for cereals. Formula milk alone is ok if you want to supplement. |

@temmytayur
The best cure for inuwo (colic) is to patiently wait it out. You can make it easy for your baby with gentle tummy massages or lay her on her tummy and rub her back when crying. For my DS, it wasn't colic but being gassy and it shares similar symptoms with colic. You needed to see how he strains and cries all because he wants to fart. I used gripewater for like 3days just to satisfy my MIL but I didn't see any changes. I drink a mixture of garlic and ginger soaked in water yet I still had to wait it out. Just be strong and courageous while watching her cry/wriggle/strain. It will be like your heart wants to break at times cos it ain't easy doing nothing. Just keep comforting her. The phase will pass. |

Happy Sunday to you Hello Eksbabe, let me add mouth for the burping matter; what makes my DS to throw up while burping on my shoulder is when his tummy presses hard on my body. I think the there's a technique to the way they are placed on the shoulder. These days, I don't even bother with burping. he does it by himself. He's 4months now. |

I pray God's healing upon her. How is she doing now? Did she take the rotavirus vaccine? apart from the ORS, you should also administer zinc but since you are in the hospital, I believe everything will be sorted. Prettyhurts: Thanks, we're on admission now. Did another test today still the same thing(no malaria, no infection,) . Now she's vomiting and watery poop, if I give her ORS she'll vomit everything. They dewormed her and placed her on drip. |

You can go for it now. just calculate 4wks from the day you take it. I'm sure the nurses there will give you date for next appointment. The max time for taking it is 24wks. After that they won't administer it. My regards to your LO. Benignasweety: Thanks a lot ma. We are 9weeks, should I take at 10weeks, wen wld I take the 2nd one? |
