The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, has assured candidates and parents that some of the issues experienced during the last UTME will not be experienced in 2017. According to him, most of the logistic challenges were caused by those given the responsibility to accredit examination centres because they compromised the process. He stated that the board will place more priority on centre accreditation, before the commencement of all its subsequent examinations. “We shall insist on a thorough accreditation and put the machinery in place that will ensure that accreditation meets our required standard. “Some of these centres will invite us to use their centres, presenting us with the state of the art facilities during the accreditation. “But they later go ahead to replace these facilities with substandard facilities during the examination proper,’’ he said. He equally pointed put that the workers implicated in the accreditation fraud have been punished accordingly.

Gunmen kidnap two reverend sisters in Ondo
state.
While they were trying to fix the problem, their
abductors reportedly swooped on them and
whisked them to an unknown destination.
A source told reporters that one of the victims
was an indigene of Ondo state. The source
further disclosed that the kidnappers had
demanded a ransom of N20m.
The source said: “The two sisters were in their
bus and were going for a special meeting of the
group in Ijebu Itele. They were travelling when their
vehicle broke down on the road.
“As they were trying to fix the problem, the
kidnappers swooped on them and took the sisters
and their driver away.
“The church has contacted their family members.
“We have been told that the kidnappers demanded
N20m before they will release them, but the church
has started negotiating with them and hopefully,
they will be released,” the source revealed.

Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled a social investment package designed to impact on the lives of over eight million Nigerians.
