Politics / Fathers Day: 5 Prominent Nigerian Politicians Following Their Dads’ Footsteps by jhasper(m): 5:48pm On Jun 19, 2016 |
1. Bukola Saraki: Nigeria’s Senate president
comes from a very powerful and influential
political family that has held sway in Kwara state
for over two decades. A medical doctor turned
politician, Saraki inherited his father’s political
structure after he became governor of Kwara
state and went ahead to assert his authority and
indeed improve on the evergreen legacies of his
dad – Oloye Olusola Saraki, who was elected a
senator of the second republic in 1979, and
became Senate leader. The junior Saraki has
gone a step further than his dad and is now
Nigeria’s number three citizen.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki . . . 2. Senator Abdul-Aziz Murtala Nyako: He is the incumbent senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District. His father, Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd), is the former governor of the state, former military governor of Niger state and former Chief of Naval Staff. Indeed, Senator Abdul-Aziz is stepping into the big shoes of his dad. Following in the footsteps of his dad, in his early days, he spent time at the Air Force Military School, Jos Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) and Britania Royal Naval College (Dartmouth), United Kingdom. Currently, he is one of the best senators in the upper chamber due to his passion for youth empowerment in his constituency. Senator Abdul-Aziz Murtala Nyako . . 3. Jubril Folajimi Mohammed: He is the son of Nigeria’s information minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. He is currently a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikeja I Constituency. Folajimi studied law, and obtained both first degree in law (LLB) and Masters Degree (LLM) and was subsequently called to the bar (BL). Before his foray into politics, he was the managing director of Knightsbridge Dredging Limited based in Lagos. Folajimi is following the footsteps of his dad who has distinguished himself in politics, first as the national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and now the spokesman of the Nigerian government. Jubril Folajimi Mohammed . . 4. Dapo Lam Adeshina: His late father will be proud of him. He is gradually stepping into his dad’s shoes and at the rate he is going, he is likely to surpass his father’s achievements. Dapo has imbibed Late Pa Adeshina’s generosity and ability to carry the people along. He is the former Oyo state commissioner for industry, applied science and technology then later youths and sports and currently representing Ibadan North East/ South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. His late father, Alhaji Lamidi Ona-Olapo Adesina was the executive governor of Oyo state from 1999 to 2003. Dapo Lam Adeshina . ... . 5. Femi Fani-Kayode: His father, Victor Adetokunboh Fani-Kayode was a prominent political figure in Nigeria in the 1950s and 1960s. He was the minister of local government and chieftaincy affairs and later deputy premier of the Western Region of Nigeria from 1963 until 1966. Femi has filled his father’s shoes effectively as he is a former special assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a two time minister also under the Obasanjo administration. Fani-Kayode is known for his deep insight of Nigeria’s politics and is also constant commentator on the state of affairs in Nigeria. Femi Fani-Kayode |

Politics / Power Supply: Why There Is No Light – Fashola by jhasper(m): 10:24am On Jun 17, 2016 |
Fashola says militant attacks on gas pipelines
are the reasons for drop in power supply in the
country.
The minister of power, works and housing,
Babatunde Fashola has ascribed the recent drop
in power supply in the country to the recent
attacks on gas pipelines in the Niger Delta region
by militants. . . Fashola speaking on issues affecting the sector at an inaugural town hall forum on Thursday, June 16 said the government had concluded plans on sustainable power development and supply strategy to tackle the power crisis. According to the Tribune, he pointed out that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari could not continue to depend only on gas to provide power to Nigerians. He said: “ Thinking is what the Kukah Centre brings, and thinking through about the apparent solution brings out a better solution. “The optimum power we have produced in 66 years is 5,074 megawatts and that happened on February 2, 2016. It is clear that 5,000 megawatts of power is not enough for the country and that is why our first step is getting more power and that is the method of incremental power as the first phase. “Second phase is steady power and it means everybody gets enough power, and whether we get enough power or not, we need data and census, which is necessary in order to know what power each household needs. . |

Education / Forget "Admission Screening" Prepare For Post-utme As Usual by jhasper(m): 9:04pm On Jun 16, 2016 |
The Federal
Government’s
directive for
post-UTME to
be scrapped
seems to have
come at a
time when
schools have
already
started putting
plans in place
to conduct the exercise for 2016/2017 academic
session. Some schools had even announced
theirs before the directive came.
It was expected that the scrapping of post-UTME
should mean that schools will not demand
screening fees/charges from candidates. But
going by observations, that is not the case.
The major reason being that schools have
already invested in logistics and planning in
preparation towards the conduct of 2016/2017
post-UTME before the directive to scrap it came.
So they have to recuperate what they have
already invested, hence the reason for screening
fee/charges.
Similarly, you must have observed that
institutions that have announced the start of
their admission process for 2016/2017 session
have used the nomenclature "Admission
screening" to replace the post-UTME. But looking
at the procedure and screening details, you need
no prophet to tell you that what you're going to
have this year is Post-UTME as usual.
What this means for candidates is, forget
"admission screening" and prepare for post-
UTME as it has always been.
In many schools, the so called "admission
screening" will be nothing than what post-UTME
has been like in previous years.
So don't relax and think there's going to be a
change or that the screening will be a walk over.
One vital lesson you need to learn in life is to
always prepare for the worst. |

Education / The Scrapping Of Post-utme Does Not Mean There Won't Be Screening by jhasper(m): 9:17pm On Jun 14, 2016 |
One of the
major
decisions
taken at the
end of the
2016 policy
meeting that
has all the
stakeholders
in the
education in
attendance,
was that post-UTME should be scrapped.
Obviously, many candidates do not understand
the import of this going by the number of calls
we have been receiving concerning this.
Many of them think that since post-UTME has
been scrapped there's not going to be any form
of screening before they secure admission.
For the avoidance of doubt, schools are going to
still conduct screening for candidates. However,
the method of screening will differ depending on
the school.
Now you may wonder what's the big deal about
scrapping post-UTME in the first place? The
scrapping of post-UTME only means that schools
are not to conduct screening exercises similar to
JAMB UTME. Many schools screening exercises
seem more like sitting for JAMB UTME again
because the same subjects you sat for in JAMB
UTME are what you are being tested on again.
According to the education minister, Mallam
Adamu Adamu, that does not make sense.
So while schools were directed not to conduct
screening exercises similar to JAMB UTME, they
are at liberty to conduct other forms of
screening for their candidates.
So if you have been whiling away time thinking
that since post-UTME has been scrapped that
there won't be any form of screening before you
are admitted, you better wake up now and start
preparing to avoid unpleasant surprises. |
Family / My Husband’s Inability To Satisfy Me In Bed Caused All This by jhasper(m): 10:13am On Jun 14, 2016 |
[ fon So before you read on, be prepared to understand what your wife goes through when you are not 100% of the man you should be for her. My name is Adaobi and I am married to a caring husband by the name of Frederick Babatunde. Even though Frederick is a man of any woman’s dream, He lacked one thing that is most important to us women even though we find it hard to publicly accept. Frederick couldn’t observe his manly duties, I don’t mean the material things because Frederick is 100% with that. But the Manly duties that makes a woman moan in ecstasy. And I’m sharing with you my side of the story before I let Frederick take over and tell you his ordeal, the problem and how he found the solution that has long eluded him. It’s very easy for us women to say everything is alright in our bedroom when we are at the verge of losing our mind and I am no exclusion because I was at the verge of doing what I never thought I could ever do – cheat on my Frederick. If not for the sworn covenant of “For Better For Worse” , I would probably have slept with another man due to frustration of not getting what I need in the bedroom from my husband. For so many years, I was dying in silence, the feeling of unsatisfaction was driving me insane and I didn’t know what to do. Then finally the idea of cheating on my husband started playing in my head. At first when it comes to mind, I quickly kick it out but every time Frederick leaves me unsatisfied with his small Johnson and spilling his thick milk in less than 1 minute, my mind start playing games on me by bringing the thought of getting what Frederick was lacking from another guy. Sometimes I fantasized about meeting a guy that will give it to me hard without any strings attached, I needed to be satisfied so bad that it started affecting my closeness with Frederick. If not for the fear of God and the saving grace that Frederick accepted that he was not 100% when it comes to satisfying me, I would have probably lost my way or become a shadow of myself, also because we could talk about it without any of us cursing on each other. The fact is, we women are human, we want to be satisfy sexually and if don’t get it, the worse ideas comes to our mind. So your wife is no exception to this rule if you don’t do something about it quickly before it gets out of hand. But I was lucky because as much as we discussed about it, Frederick didn’t stop looking for a solution to his twin problem of small Johnson and 1 minute man-ness (if there is a word like that) Frederick tried everything the doctors recommended but couldn’t get one that will totally fix the situation. Some recommendations where harmful or had side effects. After years of trying different things that didn’t work for my husband, few months ago, we found a heaven sent natural solution that worked like magic. In fact just few days after discovering this solution, Frederick drove me to cloud 9 and back after many years. My joy knew no bounds that day. Not only because Frederick now has a Johnson big enough to fill my honey pot or because he can now go on and on for 30 minutes till I beg him to come, but because I can finally clear off the thoughts of cheating on my caring and loving husband from my mind. You can hear from him here http://fredrickbabatunde.com/na/ Will you like to discover exactly what Frederick found that helped me get rid of his 1 minute man-ness and small Johnson? As for me, I am the luckiest and happiest wife I can be to my husband because he didn’t neglect my emotions and feeling, he went all the way without giving up till he found the secret solution that eluded him for years. It is your own turn to do the same for your wife, fiancé or girlfriend. You will finally be able to hear my husband’s side of the story and see exactly how he found the solution and how you too can also lay your hand on the solution. ] ][/i] |

Education / Admission Procedure In UNN When There Was No Post-utme by jhasper(m): 11:18am On Jun 08, 2016 |
There is confusion everywhere especially in the minds of university aspirants since the news about scrapping of putme broke out. Everybody is asking how will universities determine cutoff marks or admit students. Before putme was introduced in 2005, universities have been admitting people and bringing out cutoff marks though the system varies in different schools. Some universities used both Jamb results and o'levels points, some used only Jamb results. We are concerned about UNN and how they used to run admission when there was no putme. Like I said, before putme was introduced UNN still used to run her admission same way she does now; the only difference is that there was nothing like an average score. As we all know, since the introduction of putme UNN makes use of an average score of putme and utme scores to determine your score for admission. The cutoff marks are determined by general performance in putme. After the release of primary list, there will be an advertisement for supplementary form in which those that will score 180/200 and above in "PUTME" will be eligible to purchase, fill a lower course that has a lower cutoff mark than your average score and compete with others that will purchase and fill same course with you. If you do not purchase this supplementary form, you will likely not get admission in subsequent lists called supplementary lists. There is nothing like enrolling your name in a lower course if you do not purchase the supplementary form as a compensation for not being admitted in your original course. You must purchase the supplementary form for you to be enrolled in a lower course and not everyone who purchases the supplementary form must be admitted in a lower course you fill even when your average score is above the cutoff mark of that course you will fill, its mostly by merit for those with high scores, sorting with money for those who can afford it and also luck. Now you have understood how UNN runs admission with putme, lets discus how UNN used to run admission without putme. Like I said, there is no much difference. After utme (Jamb) is written, UNN maps out cutoff marks for different courses which they dont make public. The cutoff marks are determined based on the general performance in utme. The better people perform in utme, the higher the cutoff marks and vice versa. After the release of primary list, there will be an advertisement for supplementary form in which people who score 180/200 in utme (Jamb) and choose UNN in utme will be eligible to purchase. During my own time when there was no putme, I entered UNN through supplementary by purchasing supplementary form then because I was cut off from my original course since I didn't score up to the cutoff mark. There was nothing like enrolling you into another course no matter what your score would be, you must purchase a supplementary form. Sorting of admission with money was very common then. Now the latest news about putme says it will be oral/technical screening and essay writing, NOT written putme. We will keep you updated which ever one that will be abducted this time around and how it will be. #UnstableCountry #TeamDontBeAfraid |
Sports / Re: Top 5 Reasons Stephen Keshi Will Never Be Forgotten by jhasper(m): 10:46am On Jun 08, 2016 |
3. The issues that led to his sack as the Super Eagles coach . . It would be recalled that in 2002 Keshi was assistant to Shuaibu Amodu when Nigeria qualified for the World Cup, but the pair were sacked and replaced by Adegboye Onigbinde before the showpiece in South Korea and Japan. The ex-international was re-appointed in 2011 and won the AFCON in 2013. He led the team reach the second round of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
