WaytoGo: My observation ;
The fact is, lifting a 60cm dish or less is nothing compares to a 90cm dish. I mean, mounting a 90cm dish on the wall is a whole lot of experience and requires more strength and experience than when you compare it with a 60cm.
Ok. I have been on this game for a while now, training and retraining with my 60cm dish and yes, I must say it's been fun as I learn and improve everyday mounting and unmounting my 6Ocm for training purpose, been on this for two months or more and I must say, I have improved quite a lot not until today. When I try to mount my first 90cm dish for the first time, I must say that the experience wasn't that different but it's a whole lot of one when you have to mount your (90cm)dish on a wall especially a wall that isn't that strong to bear the weight of a 90cm dish. Men, I sweat no be small for dat mata, ontop mountain 90 cm dish.
Well, well, and well after all the mountain, falling of dish under the sun and mountain and nailing it over and over again I was able to have it firm on the wall after almost an hour or more.
Why am I penning this down? Of course, for newbies and potential FTA enthusiasm, start small, at least with small fish, right on the soil, don't go up there yet. Discipline yourself and mount and unmount your 60cm dish and start with an iron poll except you are sure of yourself lest you get frustrated and hunting a bird become a mission impossible.
Let me also add that, as a result of my dedication and passion for FTA, I successful hunt Multitv, Belintersat, Nigcomsat, and even Intelsat with my 60cm dish. Yes, all with 60cm dish.
Sharing my testimony and thanking all the people ( there are many) that contributed to my success and inspired me on this thread--God bless you all. Digitman,et al I see you.
Happy Sunday.

Digitizedman: Very simple, get a dish or some dishes plus diseqc switch. Track 42e ,32e and 3w. Combine all the stations you get and you've got yourself entertainment. Thank you so much boss |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by jiday4(m): 3:04pm On Oct 08, 2020 |
Digitman: I am going to make this simple for you. From a personal experience over the years. I have come to a resolve that buying a decoder that is embedded with premium =
African movie Foreign movie News Music And probably sports ( even if not live football)
That you pay little or nothing to watch, before you start thinking of adding other dishes or satellite position to watch other free to air station is the Way to go.
Because in do so.. You don't have to worry if the stations will someday go off or totally get bored of not actually getting anything premium or reasonable to watch, for yourself or family members. Whenever you turn your TV on.
As of today, only two decoders can actually give you that safety ( I stand to be corrected)
So which are they you may ask?
(1) Strong 497S
(price for decoder, around 20k or above) has a guaranteed embedded premium stations for African movie, foreign movie, news, news. That you pay not more than 2k5 to 3k yearly ( depending on where / platform you are using to subscribe from) . Which is achievable with just one dish. After that you can still decide if you wish to add an extra dish or 3 more dishes or LNB to get whatever free stations is out there. ( MEANING IT CAN STILL BE USED FOR FTA ) it's H.265 compatible and it multisteam.
(2) OURTV decoder ( company price 11900 naira but can not be more than 13k from outside source) It also has a guaranteed embedded premium channels for African movie, foreign movie, cartoon, news, music, sports ( though not live). All receivable with one dish. After that you can still add three more dishes or LNB ( MEANING IT CAN STILL BE USED FOR FTA) However there is no software for now to make it multi stream but it's H.265 compatible .
However, there are still many decoders out there in the market that can be used to hunt for FTA stations but don't come embedded with premium station from factory.
TSTV decoder has their own channels as well and can still serve for FTA purposes but I am not confident enough to add it to the list yet. Judging from history.
So meditate on where your priorities lies, for in doing so, you will make a better choice on which decoder in the market suits your real needs.
One love You are just too much and many others trying to help here , God bless you and other gurus abundantly. Good advice you dish out there but sir what about people with inbuilt satellite TV, what kind of advice can you give . |

JustCryptos: Ceejay80s. First, I want to appreciate you for opening this thread and your efforts.
We did business over 3 years ago. You helped me to purchase my entire DIY unit comprising of UPS, 30amp smart charger, and a 200ah battery. I used that unit for about 2 years before the battery packed up.
Ceejay80s and to all the gurus in the house, I'll like to know what kind of setup 500k will give me.
Note: There's no electricity in the area I'll be relocating to. So, I'll be leaving 100% off grid until more people start living there.
What I intend to power. 1 deep freezer, 1 standing fridge freezer, 5 wall mounted fans, 2 LED TV sets, 1 1200w iron, and general LED house lighting.
Priority goes to my fridge, freezer and house lighting.
Please, I'll love experts in the house to help me. I'll also like to ask. I am yet to wire the house. Is there any need to do a separate wiring for solar and another for NEPA?
Thanks in advance. You need to know the numbers of watts for each items you want to use, these will guide experts in helping you to know the numbers of batteries and solar panel to use including the inverter. But be rest assured you can't use your iron and freezer on the solar system except you go by buying a solar freezer . |

dollarnaira: Suoer inverter may look cheap but dem try i beg.
Getting a battery is the major cost of setting up inverter system.
Ordinary 500w suoer inverter will save u alot of stress it costs almost same as a 650va ups esp for small set up.
I suggest u open up d battery section of the rechargeable fan and connect directly to an external battery ( any 12v any amp). I usually connect my fan directly to my inverter battery when needed. Thank you for the information bro |

Chibuzo15: I only use it for laptop and phone charging with a low watt LED bulb .. however I'll advice you get a DC solar fan , when I tried my standing fan, it overheated and almost got burnt, due to modified sine wave
I'm not really in the position to talk about the battery capacity cos I've not even been able to really test run it from full to finish Thank you bro, the fan is a DC fan ( Qasa) |

Chibuzo15: Hello guys,
I converted my Bluegate 650va ups to an inverter with a small DC fan inside it , with a 40AH battery. Been using for about 2 months now. However now it makes weird sounds every 10 to 15 minutes, crackling sounds. As if something is scratching the metallic casing. I opened it up and noticed the transformer was the one making the sounds.
Please is there any fix for this Please can you kindly share the loads and time of usage on the UPS inverter aso the charger use, am planning going these route too. Already gotten my bluegate ups , remains battery and charger. My load is 60w LED TV, 25w DStv and one small fan . Just wanted to know if the 40ah battery is okay or 100ah . Thanks |
