Happy Friday to all. It's been a beautiful time growing vegetables on the farm walahi. Trust me when I see this, MONEY DEY VEGETABLES OOOOO!!! Chai!!! Yes. It's a very stressful one for me but the profit in growing vegetables is worth it all. Presently, I can't even meet up the demands with my shikini 1 plot farm. Lol... Every min na gba gba gba gba for my gate, we wan buy efo oooo!!! Lol |
Mrdellychy:If it was a case of foundation money, it would have been better. They sold a plot out of my land to another person. They had the effrontery to tell me not to fence the portion of the land they had sold off. . As I type this sef, the newly installed Oba Ado is involved in the matter. Honourables don call me tire to calm down and continue with my fencing. More details on this issue later. Nobody fit threaten me for land matters. Nevertheless, I will thread carefully like you rightly said. |
Mrdellychy:Haaaaaaaa!!!!! In Ogun state? Lagos ones are just a little bit reasonable that's all. |
I will be sharing in full details soonest. All is well though. Las Las, dem go know say me sef get better craze. Me wey dey chop sacrifice for calabash for land wey i see? dem never see anything. Nevertheless, work is moving on smoothly. Every stakeholder in the community as waded into the matter and pleaded with me not to escalate the issue beyond what has happened in these past weeks. |
olatuneji:Not a pleasant one. As I type this, the battle is still ongoing. |
IamAsiri:Noooooo Okra(s) biko. . |
Ade3131:Lol ![]() Greenhouse? I'm still trying to understand how greenhouse would be a better alternative here in Nigeria for now. Oga mi, all the greenhouses I know don shutdown. The last one that refused to shutdown and kept operating even when it was evident he was running at a loss, finally succumbed to robber. They came stole all the equipments, especially the pump. He was just weeping like a baby. Nevertheless, I am yet to see someone convince me greenhouse would put more money in my pocket. |
soloehis:Thanks... |
drake2:Aje in the context used is just a Yoruba slang, meaning I swear!!! Just walahi...etc. Nevertheless, Aje in Yoruba is the goddess of wealth, prosperity & fortune in business. A common belief in Yoruba land which we all share. We've got a day of the week named after her in Yoruba land; Monday (Ojo Aje); Dedicated to the deity of wealth. . Ajé (Monday): This is the day of prosperity on which money joined Orisa on earth and is known as the day of money or prosperity. |
whirlwind7: jidestroud:I already quoted myself. |
drake2:I am Nigerian . I really do mean it. I am Nigerian. I have got all the 3 major tribe's blood in me for real. Paternal side. Grandpa, Yoruba. Grandma, Hausa. Dad (Yoruba Ofcos), Mum, Edo state. Maternal Side. Grandpa, Edo, Grandma, Anambra (Igbo) Mum, Edo. Dad, Yoruba (Lagos) Me? LAGOS BOY, MARRIED TO A YORUBA BABE. AFTER MY IGBO DUMPED ME ![]() So i just answer, I AM NIGERIAN IN MOST CASES. But if i were to chose, I would lean towards my aboki lineage. I have got northern friends in droves. |
Omo Onile Saga Finally, I have been expecting them. . Just as I was updating here, 3 bikes rode in with 2 guys on each. I just smiles because i know what's going to happen next. The over zealous one among them just went straight to the bricklayer to cease his tools, shouting who gave you guys permission to work here. Una don pay? U na never settle boys!!! Who be the engineer on site....blah blah blah....Me just sidon dey sip my American Cola from the shelter I was. . I could see the bricklayer and his boy pointing towards my direction telling them na the Oga b dat. I just jejely continued sipping my cola drink which was already hot sef |
bassdow:Cows can jump over 5coaches? Wow!!! |
bassdow:Hmmm...e pain me say i no see this earlier. I did do my finds here and after calling about 4 bricklayers around here to do the job, they all refused to go below N10k per 100blocks. I had to resort back to a bricklayer I brought in all the way from Badagry who later agreed to collect the said amount of N180k |
bassdow:Yes, depends on where you are coming from. It's along Atan to Agbara road, midway to be precise. I acquired the 6 plots (an acre for 1.5million) as of January this year. |
Inquired around about sinking a borehole here and the prices ranges between N400k to N320k. Make I go dey find that money down immediately. Less I forget, the bricklayer charged me N180k to set the 2000 blocks. Also got 10 bags of cement at the rate of N7,500 (dangote) |
ActiveFarms:Really? Didn't know potatoes did well on ogun state lands. I was going to lean towards cocoyam. Can both be intercropped? |
Other expenses... My immediate neighbour on the site has a borehole. Na so i go meet am for water ooo... the wife said I would have to pay for it. To cut long tori short, she agreed to supply water for me at the rate of 3k for each tank refill. Rented the tank for 1k per day. Hmmm. I just dey look them mumu. I go surely do my own back aje!!! For now, let them continue. ![]() |
ActiveFarms:I did think of Ugu planting after I got a free pod some days back, but in all honesty, I need something that wouldn't require my presence that much on the farm. I am presently occupied with vegetables on another and it's already taking a toll on me. For okro? Taaaaaa... I so much hate it ehn. Wouldn't even venture into it if billions dey am. Gbam!!!! ![]() |
Just this morning, I had to buy 2000 block at the rate of N450 per block and a trailer of sharp sand for 95k. Why? Nothing gives me more assurance than fencing the land immediately. Moreover, I was told cattle grazing is a big issue around here, so it's better i raise the fence enough go cows would be able to climb over. ![]()

Activities this far!!! I have been able to clear the land for a fee of N48k. That's the official price for clearing of bushes lands around here which involves, clearing, packing and burning afterwards. As I try use my Lagos street sense reach to negotiate at least 1k of the payments, dem no gree for me.
|
Good news!!! I recently acquired an acre (6plots) land in Ogun state, lusada axis to be precise. I have been thinking of what to do with it, or rather, what aspect of farming I should use it for . Nevertheless, first thing first, the land needs to be secured and prepared for whatever crop farming i intend using if for.Kindly join me as I take you through the process of setting up my this new farm of mine from scratch. Suggestions are highly welcomed. |
amerengues:Thank you. Q1. I have never harvested Ewedu without uprooting. At least, market-wise, it's more easier sef to just uproot the mature ones and let the younger ones regrow immediately. And once it's all done, replant immediately. Nevertheless, for home consumption I guess you could break off some branches and let it regrow. Business wise, it's a BIG NO!!! Q2. From the seed? The whole cycle is around 5weeks to 6weeks max. Barely 10days from seed sowing to transplanting, and from transplanting, you will be surprised how fast Tete and Soko grows. For Ewedu? The harvesting is continuous cos the dispersal methods used allows new ones to keep growing once the mature ones are out of the way. |
IamAsiri: ![]() Honestly, when I reflect back on what happened, I just start laughing. Of a truth, the capital isn't the problem but how ridiculously high the are. 30k for whaaaat? Same New Hope's feed has now crossed the 20k margin... it is well. Thank God I don liberate myself. |
Tomorrow we unbrand. Let's see what this pod contains. ![]() |
Well, I don't know why these ordinary act got to me cos in fact, I could afford the seeds if i really wanted to buy it. Moreover, the last time I think i got this emotional and started crying uncontrollably was Michael Jackson's funeral, when the preacher said, "NOW THE KING OF POP AS BOWED TO THE KING OF KINGS". The tears just gave way.... Attached is the picture of the ugu pod gifted me

How far we have come in this journey! Something remarkable happened today and i felt it's worth sharing. I was taking an afternoon stroll today and decided to cool off at a friend's outlet. She inquired about my farm and was more specific about my Ugu farm. Lol...I told her Ugu was over for me jare , facing the other aspects of my farm squarely. Moreover, me no fit ever buy 1 paint bucket of Ugu seeds for 30k oooo . Just out of the blues, she asked what if she gave me a pod, would I plant? Walahitalai, I was stunned. Then was really made me so emotional was when she added, it was the Ugu's great-grand daughter of an Ugu plant I once gifted her, chai!!! It brought tears to my eyes. |
Hamzashaf99:Yes ooo!!! One by One. You nurse and you transplant to the prepared beds oneeeeeee by oneeeeeeeeeeeee. ![]() |
RainMoreDFARMS:Lol... Yes to Ewedu. No one transplants Ewedu, it's better to broadcast. For Soko and Tete, well, for personal consumption or let's say, backyard farming, you can spread around. For better results, it better to plant individually. One plant per stand, with each at least 4inches apart as stated earlier. |
