Yet another vaccination day!!! More updates soon. We muveeeeee!!!! |
excanny:I do have a steady supplier...(funny right?). Moreover, at that time of the year, I do have swamp turtle infestation around my farm. So, it's free food for all. |
All I have stated above is for the worst possible outcome for 200 birds. Trust me, production cost could even be way lesser... |
Fembleez1:Okay... 200 birds would cost you approximately N140k (using the current price @ 700 per chick). Since you are in Ibadan, it could be cheaper) Drugs & multivitamins, budget N20k. Yes 20k. Vaccines, 25k will do just fine. Now to feeding... 1.5kg per bird for 4 weeks i.e 200×1.5 = 300kg That's approx 12 bags for the 1st 1month. Depending on the type of feeds used; New Hope 320 over here is now approx. N15,950 i.e 15,950 × 12 bags = N191,400 Approximately same will go for 8weeks of age, N191,400 So far for the first 2 months, you would have spent N382,800 on feeding. From 9weeks of age, you should start feeding appx a bag per day. ![]() That is 31 × 13,,800 for the New Hope 321 bag = 179,400 monthly. That is 3rd, 4th & 5th month... 179,400 x 3 = N538,200 So total money spent so far is N 538,200 + 382,800 + 20,000 + 25,000 + 140,000 = 1,106,000. Let say, you even pad your budget with 300k extra, 1.5million will go a long way and Yes, it is possible to do the 5months with it. |
Fembleez1:Hmmm... Let's do the calculation together and find out if Yes or No. |
Day 78 402 Birds Remaining (3 mortality) Improvising for my birds. The current price of feeds is killing. It's time to find alternatives for my birds. |
Ooopse!!! Day 68 402 Birds Remaining (3 mortality) |
Another Lasota Vaccination day!!! So far, so good. |
gat2so:Lovely. Jenny, such a beautiful name. |
safarifarms:Thanks for the observation. That was an emergency light due to power outage. Trust me, the lighting in the brooder room is awesome. Nevertheless, such lights works just fine for Broilers too. |
RainMoreDFARMS:Absolutely. Good observation. All things being equal, I hope to move them to their pen this weekend by God's grace. |
Day 64 402 Birds Remaining (3 mortality) All is well and good. Though exhausting most times, and barely able to take time off the project, I still find it quite interesting to see these little rascals grow up right in from of me. Below are the pictures as promised.
|
SoftHeart:Going beautifully well. Apart from the every minute changes in prices of the feeds, I think every other thing is going according to projections. Hopefully, I will be uploading some pictures tomorrow. Thanks for the inquiry. |
Love800:ALL birds lay eggs!!! |
sunnywhyt007:Amen!!! Will do. |
dotunibrahim7:Will do when it's up. My carpenter don carry my money run . Hopefully, he will resume back on site to finish his job. |
Birds doing excellently well. Their consumption for now is still pegged at 1bag per day. i.e, that's N13,500 daily apps. (E shoke)
|
Dewormer...
|
Day 43 1 mortality (403 Birds remaining) Today, we deworm the birds. I would have preferred using a liquid based dewormer but it's all good. Piperazine is also excellent for the job. Mix and instructed. |
Day 37 1 mortality (403 chicks in total) Everything seems to be going according to plan. To the glory of God, it's now a bag feeding daily!!! ... Feed prices are going off the chat. One could hardly work with a specific budget in Nigeria as we speak.
|
dotunibrahim7 0post=128299314:Nope. It's a viral vaccine against Newcastle disease and infectious bronchitis. |
Day 33 1 mortality (403 chicks in stock) Administration of ND+IB Vaccine . This was administered through water. |
Poultry Pen for my 403 chicks in 55% stage. Hopefully I should get to 80% completion before the close of tomorrow. |
SoftHeart:Amen boss!!! |
dotunibrahim7:Treatment against/of coccidiosis. |
More Updates 25% into the construction. I wish this guys could speed things up a little bit. By the way, what More could inspire the workers if not a beautiful damsel on the farm . (Abeg na my PA be that o!!!)
|
In between Updates Building Their Poultry House Today I decided to go further by building a pen for the Birds so i can get their cages . Walahi, country hard ooooo!!!! Prices of materials don over skyrocket. Nevertheless, God power carry am.
|
Day 28 1 mortality (403 chicks) Just the regular update. Everything is going on smoothly as expected. Prepping them for 3rd Gumboro by Friday. |
. . . It had to take to the death of one to make me come to my senses Job done. It was indeed a tiring Saturday morning, after a fun filled TGIF-night, but we have got to prevent further deaths due to carelessness and laziness.
|
Day 24 1 mortality (404 chicks remaining) Wow I did get my first casualty today. . Glad it was just one. The little rascal wouldn't just stop getting under my foot. Next thing i heard was "pifffffffffffffffffffffff". . Na so i raise my hat to a fallen soldier.Hope it goes to chicken heaven because na suicide case b dis o!!!! Cause of Death: Overcrowding due to neglect & procrastination.
|
Moreover, we have been able to keep all 405 chicks all alive to this present day. Thanks to God, and ofcos, all major inputs from observers. Major Observation to take into cognizance: 1. My brooding space is too small for the 405chicks. I still need to further expand the space. 2. Introduction of more feeders. Currently, I am using just 7 flipflop feeders which has just 28 openings. 3. Well, 2 more drinkers will also help arrest the issue of topping up water frequently.
|
Day 22 Zero Mortality (405 chicks) Well, nothing out of the blues is happening. We continue with water and proceed to multivitamins from Day 23. |

i.e, that's N13,500 daily apps. (E shoke)
