we were posted against our choice to yola were the fight against the insurgents ve heightened... we accused the school authorities of insensitivity to security of life saying the campuses under state of emergency ought to have been suspended given the terrible situation of insecurity in those states, the law school authorities posted us to Yola and Kano campuses without minding the security implications involved.we expressed serious fear over the rampant insecurity in the affected states and called on the Ministries of Education and Justice as well as the Presidency to prevail on the law school authorities to repost them to secure areas before it becomes too late. Most of the prospective law students affected by the posting had chosen four law school campuses according to their preferences as provided in the admission form they filled to indicate their intention for participating in the 2014/2015 programme. When the admission list was published however, it became clear that the Law school authorities did not consider the voluntary choices of the prospective students before posting us to those dangerous areas. Traditionally, prospective Law students are entitled to four campuses of their choice in order of preference and these are often filled in the application form long before postings are done. Strangely, however, most of those posted to the state of emergency areas this year did not choose any of those areas and none of their preferred areas was considered in the posting exercise. Unless an urgent action is taken by the government to rectify the posting situation most of the affected students may not go to law school this year a situation that is capable of aggravating the already tensed education condition in the country. Meanwhile, the enrolment for law school this year is lower than those of the previous years due to the industrial strike embarked upon by the Association of University Unions (ASUU) which prevented most final year law students from graduating and meeting the schedule of law school this year. Following its establishment by the federal government in 1962, the Nigerian Law School (NLS) was situated in the former federal capital of Lagos until 1996 when the late General Sani Abacha regime moved it to the new federal capital of Abuja. Subsequently, NLS was decentralized thereby paving way for six campuses with one located in each of the six geopolitical zones of the country. The campuses are located in Kano, Northwest; Yola, Northeast; Abuja, North-Central and Lagos, Southwest. Others are Enugu, Southeast and Yenogua, South- south. Two of the geopolitical zones (Northwest and Northeast) are now affected by the insecurity engendered Boko Haram insurgents who claim to be fighting for the obliteration of western education in Nigeria. |

In a recent interview with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, Chris Brown talked about how much it’d take to get him on a track. See what he said below. “It depends, Some people I give a homie price to…The most I charge is like $250,000…If the song’s already a hit, then I’ll get on it. But I’m still gonna take some publishing…and if they say they can only give you $30,000, I need 50 percent of the publishing. “Cause I’m gonna get on the record, not to toot my own horn… I’ve gotten on records from a new artist and they’ve went No. 1. I will take a percentage of the publishing. If I’m gonna give you a No. 1, I’m gonna capitalize off it as well.” He Said. So, According what Chris said, it would cost Wizkid about $200,000 – $250,000 to get him on his song… That’s around N33million or so. Hey, that’s a huge sum of money!

i was hanging out alone in a bush smoking some hard weed at around 11pm. I decided to leave for my house,so I decided to hitch a ride home if possible. It started raining heavily and suddenly a range rover jeep stopped by my side. I quickly jumped into the passengers side and closed the door then the car started moving, and just when I was about to say thank you to the driver, I discovered there was no one in the car. I started to freak out but was too scared to jump out of a moving vehicle. When the car got to a bend, a hand came in through the driver's window and turned the steering wheel. This happened twice and on the third time I totally freaked out, jumped out of the car screaming and landed in a ditch full of rain water.I jumped out and ran into the nearest bar, narrating my ghost story to guys in the bar,3 guys walked into the same bar all drenched in rain water. 1 of them pointed at me and said,"John, isn' t that the mad man who entered the car while we where pushing it? |

I had to share this because I agree with a lot of it. I've been both women; the easygoing, laid back docile girlfriend, and I've been the oh-no-you-don't, I-won't-take-that girlfriend and I know which worked better. I would highlight the parts I feel are important (as relates to this topic). I’ve had a number of female friends over the years ask, How can I tell he loves me? I’ve answered this question a lot of different ways but when it boils down to it, the best way to tell if a man loves you is to STRESS. HIM. OUT. I’m serious. You’re probably thinking to yourself, “Stress him out? That’s ridiculous!” That’s because you’ve been brainwashed. 1) A man has to care about you enough to even let you stress him out. 2) If a man really loves you, a little stress is not going to make him leave. An oft glossed over fact of life is that relationships take work. If a man is willing to work on your relationship, it’s because he cares. If he runs at the first sign of hardship he didn’t value you or the relationship very much. You know the type of women that get caught up in years and years of pseudo-relationship with no commitment or direction? The laid- back woman. The woman that causes a man no stress what-so-ever is the type he keeps around but never commits to. Sure, they may never fight because what do they have to fight about? The relationship has no substance. She is perfectly content holding on to the hope of commitment instead of facing the reality that it may never come but she fo-damn-sho won’t “stress him out” by asking a simple, yet pertinent question, “where is this relationship going?” Unfortunately, it is the women who follow the men’s plan – even if it is completely contradictory to their own – that end up frustrated and confused when he suddenly leaves because he was never emotionally vested in the relationship. Just as women prefer alpha males, men like women with a backbone. If you let a man get away with all kinds of non-sense he shouldn’t get away with, consciously or subconsciously, he will lose respect for you. And no, I’m not saying (or excusing) he will treat you bad. He just has no incentive to treat you great , let alone put a ring on it. If his minimum has proven sufficient, why put in the excess effort of giving you his best? Assuming you have reasonable expectations, standards and goals, then voice them to us. Give us an opportunity to figure out if we can and will love the real you. Important to you, let us accurately assess if we can be the man you want and need. Don’t get me wrong, you should remain open to negotiation but you shouldn’t bite your tongue either. That comes off as weak. It also comes off as fake. Otherwise, we’ll both be unhappy when you “change.” But technically, you never changed. All you really did was become your self after the guarantee of commitment…well damn… it’s nice to finally meet you. If you have a tough question, ask it. If something’s bothering you, voice it. If in being yourself, you stress him out and he leaves. F-him! It’s his loss, not yours. He couldn’t accept the real you, which only means he doesn’t deserve any of you. Point. Blank. Period. When a man doesn’t care about a future with a woman he retreats at the first sign of stress. You ask where this relationship is going? He disappears. You ask if he wants more than sex from you? He stops calling. You want to know why his ex-girlfriend keeps calling at 3am? He tells you you’re overreacting to the point where you actually believe you are overreacting. YOU ARE NOT OVERREACTING. These are perfectly reasonable questions that any logical person with half a brain should ask and should receive an honest response. Do not let some man tell you they are not. Reverse psychology is older than the words of the Bible. Don’t fall for it. Know your worth and expect, if not demand, he honor it. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. I’m not saying you should run into the next room and slap your man upside the head. I am saying you shouldn’t have to act like someone completely different than who you are naturally in order to get a man to fall in love with you. Doesn’t that mean he isn’t really in love with you? It’s possible he may leave you, but what have you really lost? A man that never respected you enough to commit or respect you as a person? That doesn’t seem like much of a loss to me. It seems like a gain. When a man loves a woman, he doesn’t abscond as soon as the relationship is tested. He looks at it as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship. This is the man you should have in your life instead of settling for someone willing to remain simply because you never stress him out. After all, that might be the only reason he’s keeping you around. Source:singleblackmale.org

FEW hours after the Federal Government gave the military marching orders to flush out Boko Haram insurgents from Mubi, the commercial nerve centre and second largest town in Adamawa State, the terrorists, yesterday, defiantly renamed the town ‘Madinatul Islam’, which means the city of Islam. Four local governments of Michika, Madagali, Mubi North and Mubi South of Adamawa State are now in the firm grip of the insurgents, throwing up thousands of internally displaced persons. Trapped residents of the town who spoke on telephone confirmed that the insurgents firmly in control have renamed the town and have also set up check-points in strategic locations. The terrorists were also said to have urged all the residents who fled to return as they would be more secure in the areas controlled by Boko Haram than in Nigerian territories. A trapped resident, Aliyu Bala, who spoke on telephone said: “They (insurgents) mounted check-points in strategic locations, brandishing rifles but asking us not to panic or run away. But despite assurances of safety and security, thousands of the trapped residents have been sneaking out as they said they would not risk staying in the town for fear of the unknown.” A resident of Uba town, Mallam Salisu Baba, however, said normal activities have started picking up in the captured territories as Boko Haram enjoined residents to go about their normal activities while asking them to open their shops for business. He said: “The insurgents have also warned politicians not to try to hold any election in the state as they vowed to frustrate any of such actions and restated their resolve to capture the whole state in no distant time.” Baba said the insurgents have assured them of security and freedom. He added that unlike other parts of the state where curfew was imposed and people were prevented from riding motorcycles, the insurgents have assured residents of free movement any time of the day and asked them to ride their motorcycles and go about their normal activities. According to him: “The insurgents have assured people of freedom and have been telling shop owners to open their shops, threatening that anyone who fails to open his shop will have the shop broken. Whenever the insurgents want any commodity, they pay for it. This encouraged meat sellers, tea sellers and others to open for business. “They provided security during the market day of Uba town last Thursday while promising to continue to give market owners and residents who come to the area utmost security as long as they comply with Islamic rules. They have opened one of the filling stations belonging to A.A Garba in Uba town as motorists trooped to buy the commodity due to high demand,” Baba said. Yola-based legal practitioner, Sunday Joshua Wugirawho, who went to Maiha town to pick up his aged parents who fled to the town when Mubi was captured, said despite the assurance by the insurgents, several trapped residents were still fleeing, including soldiers. “I was in Maiha few hours ago. The pathetic plight of the people I saw was simply beyond imagination. We were in a commercial bus when some fleeing soldiers said we must adjust for them to get space in the bus, and we had no choice than to oblige. It’s unfortunate that even soldiers joined civilians to run away,” he said. Boko Haram on rampage in Gombe, attacks police station Meanwhile, gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents, yesterday, launched an attack on the police station in Nafada Local Government Area of Gombe State. The gunmen also took over the premises of a strategic cement manufacturing company in Gombe State, shortly after killing five people including a Sheikh in a neighbouring town. According to workers at Ashaka Cement factory, the heavily armed militants came in convoys of pick-up vans and started shooting indiscriminately at workers after the security guards at the company fled into the bush. Police officers attached to the Nafada station were said to have been overpowered as some of the officers reportedly fled on sighting the insurgents who had superior fire power. Arms and ammunition were believed to have been looted from the station. Spokesperson of the Command, Fwaje Atajiri, confirmed there were reports of attacks in Nafada, and that reinforcement had been sent there. He however said details of the incident were still sketchy. 30 killed, 89 injured in Yobe bomb attack — hospital In a related development, Executive Secretary of Yobe Hospitals Management Board, Dr Mamman Mohammed, has confirmed that 30 persons died while 89 others were injured in last Monday bomb attack in Potiskum, Yobe State. He told Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, who paid a visit to the victims at the Potiskum General Hospital that some of the victims with severe injuries have been referred to tertiary health institutions in Azare and Nguru. Gaidam directed that free treatment be given to the victims, saying “the government will bear all the medical bills of the victims, including those referred to other hospitals outside the state.” He also condoled with the Shi’ite group on the death of their members. Members of the group were presumably attacked by a suicide bomber while on a procession www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/boko-haram-renames-occupied-mubi-town/ |
An enraged Muslim mob beat a Christian couple to death in Pakistan and burnt their bodies in the brick kiln where they worked on Tuesday for allegedly desecrating a Koran, police said. The incident took place in the town of Kot Radha Kishan, some 60 kilometres (40 miles) southwest of Lahore, and is the latest example of mob violence against minorities accused of blasphemy. “A mob attacked a Christian couple after accusing them of desecration of the holy Koran and later burnt their bodies at a brick kiln where they worked,” local police station official Bin-Yameen told AFP. “Yesterday an incident of desecration of the holy Koran took place in the area and today the mob first beat the couple and later set their bodies on fire at a brick kiln,” he added. Another police official confirmed the incident. The victims were only identified by their first names, Shama and Shehzad, and were a married couple. Pakistan’s brick kiln workers are often subject to harsh practices, with a study by the Bonded Labour Liberation Front Pakistan estimating that 4.5 million are indentured labourers. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif set up a three-member committee to fast track the investigation of the killings and ordered police to beef up security at Christian neighbourhoods in the province, an official from his media office told AFP. – Hugely sensitive issue – Blasphemy is a hugely sensitive issue in the majority Muslim country, with even unproven allegations often prompting mob violence. Anyone convicted, or even just accused, of insulting Islam, risks a violent and bloody death at the hands of vigilantes. A Christian woman has been on death row since November 2010 after she was found guilty of making derogatory remarks about the Prophet Mohammed during an argument with a Muslim woman. An elderly British man with severe mental illness, sentenced to death for blasphemy in Pakistan in January, was shot by a prison guard last month. An internal investigation has found that the guard had been radicalised and goaded into the shooting by Mumtaz Qadri, a police bodyguard who murdered the Punjab governor in 2011 for suggesting reform of the blasphemy laws. Qadri shot dead Punjab governor Salman Taseer at an Islamabad coffee shop. Despite the brutal slaying, Qadri was feted as a hero by a wide section of the public including lawyers for the murder, and was even showered with rose petals as he arrived at court for a trial hearing. Global rights watchdog Amnesty International urged the Pakistani authorities to bring to justice those responsible for the latest killing. “This vicious mob killing is just the latest manifestation of the threat of vigilante violence which anyone can face in Pakistan after a blasphemy accusation –- although religious minorities are disproportionately vulnerable,” said David Griffiths, Amnesty International’s deputy Asia Pacific director. “Those responsible must be brought to justice and the Pakistani authorities have to ensure at-risk communities are proactively given the protection they need.” www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/christian-couple-killed-desecrating-koran-pakistan/ |
