I am still saying it, I think tecno did not know what they did, when they made it. I want to believe that, it is another company that built H6 and then tecno inscribed their name on it, because this phone is just good, no regrets.

Yes, I think you might be right about the phone having defects. Since I bought mine, I have no regrets. For some days now, I Keep wondering if Tecno made a mistake by building such a nice phone.

I don't have any regret buying this phone. Nothing created by man will ever be perfect and complete, not even those phones produced by the bigger players.

@ opeyemix, the first and most important app, I would advice you get is an Anti-virus, free or paid. You can get Avast or Avg, any one will do.

Hello my fellow Nairalanders, I greet you all. My brother applied for canadian study and work visa program last year, and this afternoon, he just got a message from the agency (southatlantictravels.com) handling the process here in Nigeria, that he should fill their form online, print and provide the print-out next week for an interview. He should also provide (N3,500), for the Canada Eligibility Assessment and Interview fee, payment will be made in their office. So, since we don't know much about all this stuff, I want to ask if the agency is genuine i.e southatlantictravels.com and if any more is required to process such applications? blackweaver: While I agree that cwm gives you the advantage of being able to do a restore, bear in mind that rooting carries a greater risk. While before someone could unknowingly mess up some user setting, on a rooted phone it's possible to mess up even core system functions , e.g. what if someone somehow deleted the phone app and then deleted the cwm backup folder? Your only option would be to do a system reset. Now that phone app wouldn't have been deletable if your phone hadn't been rooted.
What is my point? I'm not saying rooting is bad or anything, in fact all my android devices are rooted. All I'm saying is that make sure you know what you're doing and you have a good reason because rooting comes with increased risks. To many people talk about rooting without knowing the consequences just because it seems cool

@blackweaver, thanks for your response. You have spoken very well. However, to forestall any mishap, I also have a backup outside the phone as well, in case of any problem, should someone mistakenly deletes the CWM backup on the phone.

You don't download CWM, you have to instal it, by downloading some necessary software. Check some pages back, maybe 10-15 pages back, you might get it or better still, type 'how to root and instal CWM on Tecno P5' in the search bar above, i.e some lines under Nairaland , and click on local search. I hope with all this tips, you will be able to do it.

I would like to say that Tecno P5 is a nice phone and if you are using it, happy for you. Now, some people will say rooting is good, while others might disagree. I would like to state why rooting is important and then, installing CWM. I don't use a P5(I use a java phone), but my brother(not tech-savvy) has one. Times without number, when he(my brother) gets back from the office, he would tell me that, whenever people sees the phone on him, they would want to 'feel' it, and in the process, tamper with it. One day, he came back and said, someone installed something for him, and I didn't know if the app was going to damage or brick the phone or not. It took me time to discover what that app was. Fortunately, no harm was done to the phone. During this recent event, I was contemplating rooting, but I was scared, because I have never done rooting before. However, the day came, when I had no choice, but to root his phone. As usual, when he got home, he showed me his P5, but it was no longer in English, but rather; Burnamese. He said, someone asked to see it and then the person mistakenly changed the language. Wow! what a problem. Well, after some stunts, I was able to restore the English. At this juncture, I knew the time for rooting, CWM and backing up the rom has finally come, before someone 'mistakenly', but finally damages the phone. So on the 19th of this month(Dec), to God be the glory, I rooted, installed CWM and backed up the rom of the P5. So anytime, anyone tampers with it, I can easily do a restore, without hassles. So this is my own personal reason for rooting Tecno P5, infact any Android phone.
On a final note, remember that you are responsible for whatever happens to your phone. Thanks all.

Sorbital: Yah! Have giving it a trial, though I didn't get to completion.

1. After making a backup with online nandroid backup, does it create authomatically create a folder called clockworkmode inside the sdcard

2. On coping the boot.IMG file from the stock backup ROM folder into the PC, where exactly would you have me paste it. I mean which folder in d PC

3. Does it take such a very long while for the mtkdroid tool to scan and identify my device. Though it eventually did identified all

4. On getting to step above, I waited patiently for d whole " thing" to finish processing, I did saw the tick box at the bottom left corner having yellow colour, yet I can't tick it. Note, my mouse pointer was showing normal and can of course click other things there but cannot tick the box.

5. Note, as I was waiting, some progress bar kept going to completion and starting all over, as I kept answering yes to each popped up dialogue box that surfaced.

6. At that juncture, after waiting for a long while for the box to be tickable without luck, I had to force close the application and tender the report here.

7. In your opinion, what did I do wrong, or do you think that I was not patient enough to allow the whole thing finish. Please, your opinion is highly needed. In fact, what should I do now.

Note, my phone works very well now o as I anticipate that nothing has really started happening before I ejected the phone

My brother, I think you did a very big mistake by removing your phone. That bar that was ending and starting all over again,that you mentioned, could go on for like 30mins to 1hr+, depending on the number of apps on your phone. I got to know about this, when I rooted, installed CWM and backed up my elder brother's P5. I wonder why nobody ever mentions the time frame, it takes for that bar to stop moving automatically. Well, sorry for your challenges, but I hope and pray, that someone would come to your rescue. My help stops here, why because I am using a java phone. The best.

I just gave the process I used to root my brother's Tecno P5, some post before yours. Just google the latest framaroot version 1.8, and follow my laid down procedure. And for the whatsapp part, I am using a java phone, so I can't whatsapp or do BBM and I am not a social network fan. Sorry.

By the grace of GOD, I was able to root my elder brother's P5 on thursday 19th, three days ago. This was my procedure. First, go to your phone settings and tick on usb-debugging and allowing the installation of apps from unknown source, and then download the latest framaroot(version 1. from xda-developers(google this out), and then instal and open the app. Secondly, when the app opens, click on supersu and boromir, it will ask you to reboot. After rebooting, voila, your phone is now rooted. Again, I repeat, this was the procedure I used for my brother's P5.
I pray everything works well for you, as I will not be held liable for any damage to your phone.

If only Nigerians will for once, decide not buy this D7, it will go a long way in passing the message to tecno to start using 1G ram. Virtually all phone makers are going the 1G to 2G ram route, but not our 'beloved' tecno. Even the Samsung galaxy duos have a 768mb ram, which is very ok.

There is no anti-virus that is perfect. All security softwares are effective, as long as they are updated. However, always check for the one that makes your system work optimally.

Please, I need the help of P5 users. My elder brother is using P5 and wants customized ring tones and notification tones. Now the issue is this, I sent some songs from my nokia phone to his P5 and then used 1 of the songs as ring tones,which worked, however, for notification and text alerts, I just can't choose any of the the received songs i.e the songs will not enter the area of text tones customization. So, I ask what can be the solution?

I like Tecno, but with this their RAM issues,it is really a problem, is it a crime if they increase it to 1GB?
