Well, you shouldn't have started a mumu argument when you know you get tired easily.

There Bible says answer a fool according to his folly lest he thinks himself wise

ASUU members will not resign. They'll simply lock the schools up and throw away the keys and there's nothing you or any other govt supporter can do about it but rant online.
Lol, your last paragraph is comedic.
The lecturers should migrate or look for a better paying job if they are not satisfied with the conditions of their present job.
Anything apart from that will only bring more misery to the union.

The court directed them to resume and ASUU called off the strike ASAP. The fact I'm pointing out to you is that, ASUU still have the case in court of their demands, which if you're not aware, they actually already won that particular case before. The civil service rule does not say you only get paid for the days you worked. It's not a casual service like people like you are thinking.

Now the question is what ground the govt have to keep stoking the embers of strife with ASUU if not because they just don't care about the Universities. We saw this with OBJ towards the end of his tenure. May I ask what was the ultimate result?
I thought they've registered CONUA. Let them call them to resume na grin grin grin
I can tell you that situation will only make matters worse down the line. Govt is made up of rabble rousers not critical thinkers
The court ordered them to resume, but ASUU refused and took the case to the Apellate court where they met a brick wall. Let's not try to twist facts for records sake.

Salaries: Gombe ASUU Vows To Withhold Students' Results -

The above are some of the Headlines on the official rascality of the Buhari regime.

The most corrupt government in the history of the Nigerian state paid University Lecturers half salary in October. Can you imagine this extreme stupidity! These wicked people in power does this because their children are not schooling in Nigerian University. They don't care whether the Universities are in session or not.

These University Lecturers are heavily in debt. Their meager salaries can not even meet their needs. Without salary how do you expect them to survive? Useless government

Adamu Adamu who is a rabid dog of the genocidal criminal Tyrant Buhari should be ashamed of himself. This official rascality is unprecedented.

This union is hell-bent on leading her members to more financial ruins.

First of all, any action you take won't affect any effect on the government you think you are "fighting".

Calling off the strike and not working will still warrant no work no pay

And where will you get the PhD holders who will work in the conditions akin to modern day slavery.... from Neptune...
You guys just love pie in the sky.... completely out of touch.
Is this how you will command and control a government to produce the dividends of democracy as a bonafide citizen.
Yes, I agree you guys love suffering a lot, but sometimes... light should shine through and you hit the prodigal son moment.... just once a while...eh.
As long as ASUU continues to use strike to try and get things right, they will continue to suffer.
Back in the days, there were no private universities, even state universities were minute so strike was an effective tool back then.
I hope they embark on another strike so this evil government can continue to barter and beat them blue black till they get the message.

Just look at them threatening to hold students result and stop project supervision, how will this affect the government and help them solve their problems

Is the October half salary will solve the problem ?
They have the opportunity to continue to work and earn November, December... Salaries.
Going on strike is going back to what they've done before that has put them in this finance problems.
I sympathise with the lecturers, many of them are indebted. But they should be aware by now that strike is not the solution, but they can give it a try.

you are not correct lectures are different from teachers.. my father as a lecturer died as chief principal lecturer collecting almost 500k and u are telling he will not be able to afford to send a kid to school worth 500k per year or session there are many private schools that is less than 400k which many lecturers can afford especially those who have spent 15 years in service
If you have an option to pay 50k or 500k for something, I'm sure you'll fight for the former.

but they can afford to pay it with their salary but what about the poor families who cannot afford it.. the truth is the students will be the one that will pay the price
Most of them can't afford to pay it.
Even with the average fee of 50k per session, some of them are already struggling financially. It will also affect them no doubt.

infact it will solve 50 percent of the issue on ground you dont the main issue is all about funding and money and which the government did not want to take part in it.. for example if the tution fees in 500k infact there will not be strike for good 5 years government will just drop 50 percent to the school and the school will source the remaining 50 percent from school charges and fees
The lecturers have their children and wards in public universities too, unlike the politicians.
If the tuition fee is 500k too, they will have to pay.
They are still fighting for themselves by rejecting such move

my brother you dont know we are very nice in the country people are really suffering in this country.. u can't believe contonu cefa currency is more valuable than our money why did they not give a damn about us? is because we dont hold our government responsible for this present situation we found ourselves and they take us for granted now coming back to ASUU the government want to treat the education sector the way they treat economy, security and other sectors which you know ASUU is the only formidable union we have in this country.. let me tell you the truth my bro if other union is like ASUU government would have improved the economy sector, you are human being can you tell me that the present renumention you collect from your place of work can sustain you with the economic situation of this country? remember the minimum wage is still 18k and a bag of rice is going to 60k how do you expect people to survive.. this government has failed us in all sectors and ASUU is justified by their actions.. the truth is we people dont know the value of ASUU in our education until the government establishes their will in the education sector in fact we will all miss ASUU if time comes.. but my advice to ASUU is that they should not fight for the students again and allow the government to increase the school fees as they plan so that all the silly students abusing lectures old enough to be their father will drop out of school and will experience the reality of life
If FG increase tuition fee, will the lecturers be immuned to the problems that will arise from it?

You want the lecturers to be totally ruined financially?
They still have November and December salaries to earn in full, while the court decide about the arrears.
Going back home to meet no work no pay won't be a smart move

Reckless by Ngige. ASUU is obviously unsatisfied that nothing concrete has been reached and like its president said, only called off the strike because of a court order.

The minister is giving them the grounds to embark on another.
What will be the effect of another strike?
They will only lose more money.

It's not by force to be a lecturer, they should find a better paying job.

This half salary is for the small lectures that happened during October.
As you lecture, you get paid.

Meaning had ASUU resumed early October, following NIC ruling, instead of trying to appeal it and wasting more time. They would have gotten full October salary.

Wholesalers and retailers who are northerners rarely exploit people in the north, that's why things are cheaper there. Foodstuff, building materials, textiles materials, medicines etc.
One kg of chicken is between 1700-1900 for example.

So him saying gas is cheaper in the north because it's only politicians and elites that make use of it is ignorance.

Even during fuel scarcity, owners of filling stations in the south, east and west are always quick to start selling at exorbitant prices while the ones in the north still maintain fair price.
Business / Re: Cooking Gas Price Increases By 61% by JJuanMiguel: 3:14pm On Oct 27, 2022
ArcSEMPECJ:

The issue lies on demand for cooking gas, Majority of Northerners, atleast 67% of Northerners use firewood to cook , some don't even have kerosene stoves to cook with ....

How can you expect an Hausa man with 23 children, with most of them , he doesn't know where they are, found himself cooking with gas

The actual people demanding for gas in the North are their elites , local government Counsellors, chairman, State House of reps , few Alhajis , and Governors.....

So you see why the price is low over there, because they don't even see much people buying it ....

But South South, ooops , every household has cooking Gas
Your ignorance about the north is top notch.
There are even locally fabricated gas cylinders in the north to allow people get access to using gas cookers.

Take it from someone who has seen life from both sides. The only difference is that an average northerner is contented with the little profit he/she can make unlike you people that are eager to cheat and outdo one another.
Here people just want to eat, practice their religion and live simple life.
But you all must rush and use the latest things even when it's not necessary.

The average price of a bag of sachet water in the north is still between 120-150 as at today. How much is it in your area?

Nope, either

1,Government increases fees

2.Government finds more money...by taxes, removing subsidies on petrol...

3.Or we accept the status quo ante, and accept our bad universites...as they are.

Seems you want option 3. Well, you are rich, because you can afford to send your kids to the better private schools or abroad...while government schools get by on poor funding...

ASUU need to be punished by their selfish, needless action first.
9 months in 2020
8 months in 2022
What exactly is their aim trying to use a problem to solve a problem?

The combination of number 1 and 2 is the best.

It's everywhere, always making references to oil company workers, Senators and ministers salaries.

Buhari won't pay them any dime for those 8 months, so they better make up their mind now. They can as well embark on another strike so the 8 months can increase.

(Note..I agree with you , but I want to draw your attention to some things)

1.ASUU goes on strike repeatedly because universites...need money.

2.No Nigerian university is in the top 100, or even top 500 global universities in the world...plus we cannot do advanced research in many things...for idnsutry, healthcare, etc...because...poor funding.

3.ASUU members want to work with high quality equipment, labs, libraries, lecture halls, and want better welfare for themselves, students and other staff.

4.Government rightly tells ASUU every time that the money is not sufficent.

5.So how do we stop ASUU from going on strike....raise fees. To levels like 1 million naira and above.

You don't like? But you just basically said that ASUU is wrong to go on strike.

Either fees go up, or in ten years private universites will surpass public universites. Guess who suffers more...the poor.
So shutting down schools and absconding from work for 8 months by ASUU will solve the problems?
ASUU enjoy going on strike cos they are sure it won't affect their paycheck even though they are aware the strike will be futile but they take solace in the expectation of the free salary while wasting students time and facing their private businesses.

What is the base cause of this strike? Unfulfilled necessities of over a decade.

There you have it. Of course the FG can decide to withhold their salaries. Nothing stops them from doing that; not even a court order.

We know who'd suffer the consequences of disgruntled employees.
