Even if we sell either of Partey or Jorginho, I still don't see us getting Lavia sha. 3 people struggling for one DM position? As at now sef, one of Partey and Jorginho is at risk. |

I have always said that Zinchenko role is a midfield one and not a FB one. The same will apply to Caicedo if at all we sign him. Bring Receipts where you said that Zinny role is a Midfield one and not an FB before he kicked ball for arsenal. I'll be waiting. |

Lush100: . What's the essence of throwing in a bid of same amount that another club has already done which was rejected even when the player already said that the first club is his choice.
If Mancity bidder a higher amount, it might make sense.
Well I'm not too sold on Rice. I prefer Lavia or going all out for Caiceido .
After all he wanted to come to arsenal b4.
The issue of not playing in england is a media club stunt Well, Man city might offer a better payment structure to West ham (we brought 75/15, while they brought 80/10), better salary to Rice and also the prestige of winning trophies. These alone might sway some players to change their minds and also the club also to change its mind. Mehn, Tbh, I find it really difficult to believe that Man City didn't submit any bid sha |

Spy360: First of all, Cancelo has already said he doesn't want to stay in England. So no need chasing him. We actually wanted to sign him.
Secondly, the role of an inverted FB is basically a midfield role. So it does not mean Caicedo will be a defender.
Caicedo has played in midfield and RB positions for Brighton which suggests that he will be comfortable handling both position at a time just as Zinchenko does, and even better in my assessment.
I believe the reason Arteta no longer considers him as priority was because Partey played that position late last season and even though initially he didn't do well, he still caught up with the demands of the position. Recall, Partey actually played some games as a RB for Atletico Madrid.
What this gives us is tactical flexibility. The difference between Zinny and Caicedo/Partey was that Zinny was primarily played as a fullback throughout his stay at Man city while those two was just deployed due to injury to the said player in that position or emergency. It's just like Xhaka who we few times played as a FB. No dey ever use Zinny as example with them abeg! When we bought Zinny, every Tom dick and harry knows that he'll come to play Lb and not Midfield. It would be gross foolishness to buy one of the best CMs in the league just to deploy him as a fullback (whether quasi or not) because of tactical flexibility nonsense |

Leyqute: There's this rumor that Arteta called Pep and, as a favor, urged him to convince City to bid higher than Arsenal for Declan Rice. That way, Kroenke would stop pennypinching and bid a serious amount.
If City hadn't bid 80m +10m, Arsenal would've bid that same amount- and have it rejected right off the bat.
All speculations tho. Read up sef, na exactly the same thing I talk. Na who go believe that nonsense na wetin I wan know |

Spy360: It's just my guess. By the way, when Partey clicked on the role, we saw how Wllolves were easily dismantled in few minutes. Whether you accept or not, it is a tactical move that can succeed given a more reliable player like Caicedo. He did play as RB against us. Na him injure Martinelli. I ask a question. Why should we use the ingredients of Rice to cook soup? How does it gel. If we need that tactical flexibility and tweak, let's get Cancelo then. What's the need of buying Caicedo just to play fullback? Like what's the advantage? Using Wolves game, last game of the season, where nothing is at stake for wolves who are already thinking of holiday is a joke. When we tried that nonsense against Brighton and Nottingham (two important games for all teams involved— ie arsenal, Brighton and Nottingham), we knew how it was useless and how our attack was dead and predictable. We know how we came up short. In fact, Arteta have to ditch the idea 10min into the second half against Forest E better make we hold our money than buying Caicedo, one of the best Cm in the league, just to convert him to FB. Who does that? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 7:59am On Jun 28, 2023 |
Spy360: Caicedo. He played RB towards end of last season for Brighton. So I expect he can be an effective inverted FB just as Zinny is on the left. That will be two massive tactical options that will make opposition coaches do guess work anytime they have to play us. The only match that nonsense worked with Partey was against Wolves and wolves was on holiday. When things where hot and Partey was deployed as RB, we lost 3-0 to Brighton and 1-0 to Forest. In fact, it was against Forest that the nonsense was brutally exposed. I don't know which guess work Opposition coach wan dey do when we're literally harming ourselves. I don't know about Caicedo and fullback towards end of last season but it'll be foolish to buy Caicedo and play him as fullback because of one stupid kini kan tactics. The only reason I supported Zinny own is that it's fullback he normally plays for man city before coming here. |

Spy360: For Pep and Arteta to be ready to pay huge fees for Rice means he is a good player and suited to their tactics.
I think Arsenal can also sign Caicedo or Lavia is Partey moves. Caicedo can do at RB what Zinny does at LB, may be even better. That gives us a second option, and headache for coaches. Partey tried that towards the end of last season to a degree of success.
105m for Rice is a huge responsibility. I hope he is worth it. Caicedo or Cancelo? |
