Stones was not offside.

The linesman had ruled him off first and City players moved on. They did not surround the ref to complain. It was the VAR team that reviewed it and drew lines for all to see.

What would the refs have gained by giving City the goal? If they were going to help us, Partey fouled KdB and should have received a yellow card + penalty.
I'm dead certain that wasn't an offside one bit as per the rules. But as for the bolded, I didn't remember this scenario at all sha

True. I saw that too.

Woh, Arteta should look for pacy full back with some ruthlessness of Wan Bissaka as extra. My eyes dey pepper me every time they counter us and i see fullbacks strolling like they are forwards. It's an abomination to me, just like it is to Jose Mourinho. They are yet to realize that the pace of Saliba this season has saved us on a dozen occasions, especially where he outruns those running back. That thing dey muzz me gaan. Especially Partey. Guy runs back like he's a cartpusher in Tianjin in one Jet Li movie. Very annoying.

It is surprising that they used the left side to attack us for most of their goals. I think Pep has given Arteta a hint of where the weakness in his team is. Plus after their goal, he was berating Ederson and it was about not giving long balls directly. Stones did that and it led to their goals. =Another weakness Pep has shown.

We we totally outplayed but the mentality change with Trossard. How that guy sits on the bench sef dey make me vex with Arteta

A 3man defence with wingbacks system should be used to allow this Saliba absence reduced imo.
This bolded is what is really vexing me too. Trossard have shown time and time again that he never gives up even when all holes seems lost but he never starts him.

This defense has conceded 14 goals in last 4 games. Even when we were winning we still struggled to keep a clean sheet.

But some want me to believe this defense would have done better than Luiz playing behind a drab midfield in Emery era.

Okay

When it comes to supporting the attack with build up I give it to this set of defenders. But you see for their primary responsibility which is to defend, it is not better than Mustaffi and Luiz. Stats don’t lie .
There's a reason almost all of us here misses Saliba.

We hardly concede an average of 3 goals per match with Saliba/Gabriel than without Saliba

Why can't they just hold on?
Their mental capacity is always lacking
Holding on would start from the coach first. I knew starting with same formation would make holding on a very hard task even if our mentality is 1000%

The formation and same shape/rotations from Arteta killed anything from the players to even think to hold on.

There's even so far mentality can take you.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 10:55pm On Apr 26, 2023
I predicted that if we play this 433 formation, Manchester city will decimate us with their 3241 and I was right. It was the exact score I was thinking (ie 4-1 or 5-1).

Not only are we low on confidence heading into the match(which was a high pressure match also) but Guardiola new formation is alien and we wouldn't get a grip on it and it surely happened. Plus Guardiola would have used all week to work on our shape and rotations which I believe he did cos we were very crowded in all areas.

I think Arteta should have respected Man city. He should have plucked a leaf out of last season when we played Chelsea at the back of 3 straight losses. The switch in formation gave us new verve which we used in winning all the difficult matches lined up for us before falling to Tottenham.

Anyways, we move!!

I know we're mostly disappointed that we might not win the league... I am too but I still believe if we didn't win it, it's not because of lack of trying or effort. Anybody who watches our games closely and without emotions will attest to the fact!

With the way these players are playing and how we mostly dominate teams in such a way that can be very very sustainable in the long run (just the way dominant and successful teams do), I still believe this season isn't the last season we'll compete for the league especially if we keep all these crop of players together and add better players possibly (and depth).

Maybe this season came too soon for the players and they were overwhelmed by the pressure of Man city breathing down their neck deep into the season. While I'm not giving up hope yet till at least this season ends, I'm still believing this isn't the last of Arsenal and with more experience, they'll be able to prevail. This season might just be that foundation season

Other teams might improve next season but that doesn't mean we'll be stagnant obviously!

I really enjoyed this season Tbh from the style of play to total domination of teams and I'll have few complains to muster.

I'm proud of this team this season and I won't berate them because of one poor month forgetting the months/games from Md1 that they made us really believe that we're title challengers. I mean, we hardly put a wrong foot pre-liverpool 2nd leg

While I'm still having a very little tiny hope of tonight's match, if we falter come end of season, I won't paint them victim of their own success.

Sorry for my plenty shalaye again grin

He wasn’t given a chance at arsenal

Was he given the chance like arteta ?

No ever put Emery with these useless managers for the same sentence

Currently in the epl only pep and klopp are better than Emery
I believe he was sha. He lost the dressing room plus our football play was so so bad that the only option was to sack him.

Not saying Arteta is better than him but I think he wasn't able to exert control at arsenal the way he would love and that contributed to his downfall.

Plus, his language communication wasn't effective. Most players complained they couldn't understand his English intonation thus couldn't translate his philosophy onto the pitch effectively.

I won't brand him a flop at arsenal tho and I really appreciate the work he did for us during his time here.

Man City doesn't just have to play but to win their outstanding matches. Secondly, the league is in our advantage because we are five points clear. Man City has to win to take over the advantage. I believe if given a choice they would prefer our position than theirs.

I am not going to put my neck on the line that Man City will lose any game. I am just stating what facts are currently on ground.

Some Fans really think football is just mathematics. SmH! One thing is certain that a game in hand is what it means. Its not a game won , drawn or lost . Until that game is played , the result is not determined. Thats why those who know better always talk about one game at a time, The next game is and should always be the focus and not the one that is happening 3 or 6 weeks from now.

I must admit that results have not gone our way in the past games which may be due to pressure and that is expected. There are no excuses for failure but like Jodera said. Whetever the outcome at the end of the season, I am mighty proud of this team. A young team that has brought back the feel good factor and got us eager to watch Arsenal play on matchdays again must be celebrated. Some people were moaning about the draw in Anfield forgetting our horrible record there and who thinks even if liverpool are not at their best that we can just stroll in there and get maximum points without working for it?

No one is even considering the injuries which we have had to battle and still battle to stay in this race given our personnel.

ManCity are masters and full of experience in this scenario and i expect them to put us under pressure till the very end but saying the league is lost just shows at times that we can never be satisfied and emotions just overun our judgement.

Man city is the next game and that's what it is. After Man city we have other games and they are equally important. What i want to see is confidence and consistency in the mentality that has brought us to where we are even when we had our top striker our for months.

I'll leave the coach to do his job and hope he gets it right and the players to stay focused and give a performance like they did when we played them and last time out .even going a man down but showing grit. Though we lost in the dying minutes of that game but that for me showed that if we stand tall against them we can get the result we desperately need.

COYG!

PS maybe we should try being a spuds fan right now....
I wish I can like this post more than once.

There must always be conditions attached to facts. If you look at the PL table right now, it states the facts. Any other possibility can take either way. We are five points ahead and will remain so if City does not win the games in hand.

You are wrong about City not having to win against us. If we beat them on today or draw, they will still have point gaps to cover against us.
The thing Is that even if today Is the final day and we draw, we won't still be crowned champions until Man city plays their two outstanding. So what does that suggests? It means that, it isn't a fact that we're champions (or 5pts ahead) until Man city plays their game. It also means the league isn't in our advantage but Man city's advantage.

As for your 2nd paragraph, we only need to win. If we draw/lose and and Man city just win one of their outstanding, then Goal difference will come into play and we know how vastly inferior we are to that.

Well, I don't want us to go round and round into this sha. If you think Man city will lose their two outstanding at Etihad and only needs a win against us, then good for you and I pray it happens.

At least, let it happen that way(even though I know the chance is of that happening 0.000001%)

You are bringing in conditions yet you're still claiming it's a fact? grin
Why not wait let Man city Lose their two Matches against Everton and Brighton (both at Etihad to be precise) before you label the 5 points as facts.

No wonder you still think they need to win us for them to have an advantage when in actual fact they don't need to lose.

4. It's not going to be easy for them too, they will have to fight really hard for it.
