European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera:
My thoughts on our Win against West Ham

1... I know I've talked about the mentality of these guys more often than not but who noticed the mentality shift when Saka scored the equalising goal?
To put it more simply, when last did you see an arsenal player score an equalising goal yet refuse to celebrate instead he ran into the net to pick the ball for a quick restart as if we're losing? Also, when have you ever seen our team do such as early as the 53rd minute?

What this means is that these players have already agreed within themselves that anything less than a win will never be condoned at all. Once a team have this kinda winning mentality, then know that it'll be very very difficult to stop them and it's a good thing to see my club having such a mentality and attitude. What a great time to be an arsenal fan indeed!! cool

2... Does this team make you remember the great(prime) Barca under Pep. Please don't misconstrue me; I'm not saying they're as good as them or the players' quality are like the Barca own but just try and watch. The "6- seconds" ball recovery, pressing and forcing of opposition mistakes (or making them clear the ball straight to us) is something this team seemed to have mastered this season. No wonder we've dominated teams as that's one of the key attributes of dominant teams

3... Who noticed our attackers are more and more ambipedal by the day. The goal Saka scored(which was correctly ruled out for offside) was with his right foot. The way he played it, one would think he's a right footer. Then the goal Martinelli scored was with his left foot. Because Martinelli was able to use his left foot, he was able to fool Coufal and the keeper who were both thinking he'll shift onto his right foot to take the shot or curler thereby giving him(Martinelli) that time and space to unleash that shot with his left. Such unpredictability from our wingers (using the left feet when the right feet is man marked and vice versa) makes us have one of the best double wingers in the division (if not top 2). That is the work of extra coaching by Arteta and the staff and I really commend them for that.
Checkout Saka's goal against Leeds, Martinelli goal against Leicester and Xhaka's goal against Southampton.

4... Odegaard was the heart of everything good for us and I'm glad most people are finally seeing how good and creative he is. But there's another thing I've been noticing about his leadership qualities that most people are oblivious of. Before the game started (just before kickoff), Odegaard went up to Nketiah, gave him a hug(and some words of encouragement/belief). When Nketiah scored the third goal, just before Westham did their kickoff, Odegaard still went up to Nketiah and gave him a hug again. Such show of demonstration by a captain always gives confidence to player(s) knowing fully well that the team is behind them and support them also. It might look like a small thing but those who know much about human management knows how great such an act can do to a person esp In Nketiah shoes. Odegaard also did such kind acts to Saliba(when he did the own goal against Leicester) and to Gabriel (when he did the error against Fulham). Though it wasn't a hug but a handshake and pat in the back. No wonder he's one of the most loved in the dressing room after Saka and why he was easily made captain even though he isn't that Vocal.

4... I've always believed that Nketiah will be an able deputy to Jesus and he proved it right. I loved the way he always drop deep to help in our transition, he movements, pressing and other facets of play he showed against West Ham. And if you think his all-round game was great, watch his goal. The turn to evade his marker and shot suppose be contender for EPL goal of the month. I'm just happy we won't be thinking of any panick striker buy cos of Jesus injury. I've always believed that If Nketiah could do it without some of our key players out last season (when scoring 5goals in 8matches), then we have no cause for alarm when we're even stronger this time than last season. Kudos to him!!

5... I know very few defender as cool, calm and level headed as White in this EPL while still dishing out 8/10 performances and trust me they're very very few. Our current player of the month is indeed one of the most underrated players in the league.

Still top of the League, still 5 points clear, still the only team to have a 100% winning record at home and the only team to have scored in every single match in EPL.

Upwards and onwards!!!
Brighton next!!

COYG!!!!

Havertz10:
I had expectations but life happens, who knew that flick would be that clueless, he is 23 more World Cups to come

And he didn’t have an underwhelming tournament, had 2 goals, left a patron saint in Spain, broke the hearts of Costa Ricans, trended in that country for days

Van persie arsenal legend at 23
Havertz underwhelming at 23

What was that tuchel’s quote again grin havertz > van persie and Bergkamp combined
All these shalaye because Havertz food wey you tell us go cook no gree done?? grin

It's now Flick fault. And ohh, it now you remember he's 23yrs and he has more world cups to play? grin

Van Persie at 23 bought for £4m, a Benchwarmer in his first season has 5 goals to his name

"Generational talent" Havertz at 23, bought for £72m, a starter at a top club at Chelsea have a paltry 8goals.

Mind you this "generational talent" is claimed to be very very versatile. He's so versatile that he doesn't even know his best position again grin

My guy, no time for trolling, I am just happy Messi finally has his hands on the World Cup trophy not because I think he needed it but because it silences the haters...
I tell you bro, this is just my biggest Joy.

At least, with this WC win now, there's nothing to hold him against this GOAT-ship. I'm so glad he bounced back from last season's performance to win the biggest mundial in football. Not just winning it but doing it with Swagger!!

Some of the best football is being played. We just had Japan and Saudi beat two teams with 6 World Cup titles between them in the first week and yet all the headlines we heard today is about Rainbow and armband

These people are just insufferable at this point

They're coming for your cartoons, comedy, your football. Everything that were non issues before they've inserted themselves and made themselves the main character even for things that have nothing to do with sex

It's a pity footballers are allowing themselves to be used as pawns
Na the thing we dey vex me be this. Even though I had no issue with LGBT and how anybody should do with their lives but forcing it down other people's throat and claiming "fundamental right" is what I find funny as well as annoying. It's one of the reasons I agree with Havert.z10 posts he made this week. It's no right, it's a choice and just as you choose to love another man, so is it for another person not to choose to love another man. And if a group/community says they don't choose to accept it or see it publicly, why should someone start shouting discrimination and bla bla bla.

They're doing a good job creating awareness and indoctrinating the next generation (both consciously and subconsciously) through movies, music, fashion, celebrities, football and other forms of entertainment. Before 10-20yrs, the population of those indoctrinated will be much and as Havertz says, it'll come and be accepted naturally.

All these protest and not making us enjoy our football no make sense at all. We can't enjoy the world cup for what it is — football!!

The USA represents a strong, emerging revenue stream for European football and EPL teams do not want to be left out. This is why there has been a spike in the pilgrimage to USA by European teams. Preseason tournaments that include powerhouses like Barcelona/ Juventus/ Arsenal/ Bayern/ Liverpool/ Manchester United/ City/ Inter/ Madrid and other top teams are now very popular in the summer here in the States. Even smaller teams like Everton, Spuds are digging dip into their pockets to embark on preseason tours to the USA.

Now, the EPL is going full monster on capturing the US market with plans to hold an EPL preseason tournament starting next year. Asia will remain a strong market for Arsenal but we also have to exploit emerging markets and take advantage of the revenue while it is still hot.

Arsenal have a strong fan presence in the US as it is no longer strange to see Americans adorning our jerseys and bars opening early to show Arsenal games. Look no further than our decision to sign M. Turner/ A. Trusty as evidence of our continued effort to penetrate the American football market and build a strong base.
Nice one. Really insightful.

Now that you said it, it now I'm now realizing it as most top preseason games are in USA compared to previous seasons where it wasn't frequent like that

They were primarily marketing transfers used to promote our expansion/ growth in the Asian market.

The Asian market represent our strongest marketing force and that is why we usually tour Asia during preseason/ offseason.
