Thank you. You get my point.

Though the guy you quoted is non fan but a hater, and he doesn't deserve a response. He claimed Nketiah scored few goals and even belittled 2 of his goals, tell him to tell you how many mins Nketiah played for the whole seasons now, he will go mute.
Lol... You're welcome.

I think his response was due to the fact that he thought you were comparing Nketiah to Henry

I'm just explaining the rationale behind what klopp did in converting Firmino, what Spain did in euro2012 and other examples. If Arteta believes that will make him successful, then Kudos to him. Mine is to see a successful arsenal winning games and playing beautiful football and winning trophies while at it. I'm not worrying whether it'll affect CF goals or fullbacks or DM.

First Baba, let’s keep it civil, no need for insults..@ObaIgwe1 is someone I respect despite our differences.

Yet @Jodera wants me to believe there is no Nketiah v Henry comparison which I consider a slander and disrespectful. Someone starts his post with “bursting bubbles of Henry V Nketiah.. When you tell me at 22 Henry struggled and you are showing me his numbers but still using “what ifs” and hopeful hope as justification for Nketiah… not even Walcott oh, Henry TH14..then you are flat out being disrespectful because at 22, Nketiah did not have the notoriety or achievements of Henry.
I think you're misunderstanding Obalgwe and that's where all these misinterpretation is coming from.

Nketiah is derided for choosing that number 14 because of his 8 goals he had. So what he's telling you is that Henry who had a similar poor stats coming into the EPL, shone as a young guy and became a king did so, so if young Henry can do it, then possiblity of Nketiah doing it too is there. Auba didn't start like that here and I'm not sure Walcott started like that too.

Even his concluding post says he's not saying he'll surpass Henry but anything — in this case Nketiah scoring plenty of goals— is possible.

This is not about comparing Nketiah to Henry. While you guys are misinterpreting it as comparison, I'm seeing it as inspiration. ( The hope he has for Nketiah against all odds using Henry as a mentorship)

I don't see anything bad Tbh

The other CF klopp had was Origi which firminho is better than plus he have 2 world class wingers that can deliver him goals, he started seeing the light when salah and mane are not scoring
You can't call firminho, lukaku and lacazette false 9 na
These guys are in and out strikers that is why i have been excluding havertz in the arguement because he's not a full time striker even werner can be excused
For your information.. Firmino was never an out and out (traditional) striker. He was an Am in Hoffenheim, bought as a Midfielder in Liverpool (by Brendan Rodgers) and used as a Midfielder under klopp arrival.
He only switched to 9, in this case false 9 under klopp first full season benching traditional striker in sturridge and origi. In terms of goal ratio, origi is better than Firmino yet klopp didn't use him.

I agree that Laca is a striker by default but why I will call Laca false 9 is because he acts like one. Dropping deep in the middle, try to orchestrate play with his wingers before moving into the box. Same way havertz does it, same way Firmino does it(reason why it's easy is because of their Midfield psyche unlike strikers whose pysche is just to get at the ends of things).

Only Lukaku acts like a traditional 9 in your examples

shutup there. Nketiah bawo. You arsenal fans can be stupid atimes. How can you believe in a guy that scored four goals, two from mistakes all season. Sb that cannot score from open play. And you have the temerity to compare him to king henry becos the useless board gave him a five year contract. Jodera are you seeing this.
Lol... You guys should calm down na.
Nobody is comparing Nketiah to Henry. Why all these violence.

What Obalgwe is saying is that there's still room for Nketiah to score more goals since he's young. Being a second choice striker today doesn't mean he'll be like that forever here.

From what I understood from the post, he was just trying to say that Nketiah can go the way of Henry if he sets his acts right since he's young. I mean, you can only go the way of someone higher than you na. Which means Henry and Nketiah no be mate at all.

He isn't comparing Nketiah to Igwe, not one bit. You guys should biko calm down grin

It was i also highlighted here it was only a matter of time people start noticing laca offer nothing just the way klopp bin firminho for diaz and jota cause he offer nothing
So what arteta did is no big deal, every sensible coach will do the same why keep an under performing player in the line up
No be juju be that
Why did tuchel bench lukaku then undecided
Was chelsea not winning games
You said the bolded and I admit. But what you guys are failing to notice is that Firmino was a main 9 during Liverpool back to back UCL finals and winning one. He was even their main striker wen they won the league too. I'm still asking that question, if he was that bad, klopp won't use him that long na. Abi?

But I don't want to digress to Firmino talk but on this Laca stuff. Now, players like that(esp in modern game) are known for their all-round game than their goals mostly. It's why they're called false 9 (I guess). The day they'll lose their all-round game is the day that they'll be binned. Firmino lost his immediately after their CWC win as his plays and linkup from then on was very poor. Havertz is doing same in Chelsea now and even though his goals isn't so good statistically, Tuchel will prefer havertz to a Lukaku who have 7 touches per game and will want to mask it with a goal.

In today's game, structures matter and as long as a false 9 does that effectively, he'll always see shirt

Disclaimer: I'm not against goalscoring strikers please, just giving insight on why some modern coaches prefer false 9 to traditional 9. Same reason why ozil and fabregas type of 10 are heading to extinction

Baba, let me start by saying there is absolutely no Henry vs Nketiah debate because it doesn’t exist and it will be disrespectful of me to even entertain such debates irrespective. Until it happens, it is non- existent and only a hopeful wish, consequently, I will not indulge.

Henry started out as a winger from his Monaco days until Wenger. It was not unusual for players at Henry’s age to be late bloomers in that era in comparison to this generation, the examples are numerous.

At 20, the youngest player in that French squad (maybe outside Anelka who was also turning 20 that year) Henry had won the World Cup, guess who was the top scorer for France at the World Cup in 98? It is easy to talk about his struggles with Juve but bro you guys have nothing against Henry.

Aged 22, he won the Euro 2000 with France, guess who was France’s leading goal scorer and tied for 2nd on the scoring table? Same Henry! So man make una miss me with this Henry hate wen una dey breed here. What Henry achieved at 22 on the global stage, Nketiah never even smell am.
Lol .. boss, calma calma grin

Nobody hates Henry, Infact I don't even think any arsenal fan does. Another thing is that no one is even comparing Henry with Nketiah— it's blasphemous to do so.

So nobody has any against Henry. Just calm down grin

But we weren't scoring na, so why won't it be an issue

We were playing well before Partey injury na. I've explained it here that Laca(just like dem Firmino and havertz dem) and ways on how their coach uses them.

So him not scoring wasn't even a big issue then. It was his all-round that waned was the biggest issue

Should we have use laca instead undecided
Lol... You don't get it do you?
Check and you'll notice that prior to Chelsea match, I was one of those hoping for Laca to start from the bench and Nketiah to start.

My point is, not all coaches will see that the striker is the issue. Infact, some will think that Laca is just passing through a blip(like Auba case) and will still use him even against Chelsea, highest they'll change formation. This isn't a Willian case where an injury brought the emergence of ESR. This is a case of Arteta giving Nketiah chance to prove himself even when Laca was Okay.

That he did it after 2 straight losses (benching Sambi and Laca) for their replacements is a bold thing to do as one loss is not a good enough reason to drop an underperforming player. To me, that's something worth commending on

Lol nothing to commend the deed as been done
As we were losing nketiah was part of the shining light he had more shots than lacazette full season in just 3 games
So you expected him to try another cf or call back laca
there are some coaches that wouldn't even touch Laca, instead they'll change formation and change one or two Midfielders (or even add more Midfielders sef).

Him trusting Nketiah against Chelsea is something to commend on.

It is obvious he will not lead the attack now. But when given the chance to prove himself during the lesser matches and other half opportunities during big matches, if he should shine, he might start leading... maybe 2 or 3 seasons from now, that is how stars evolved...even Henry. Switching to Ghana is a good thing, that will give him opportunity he is looking for to shine too, there are too many ready made strikers from England already, he stands little or no chance of being called upon till he is made or equally as good as others from England. But if he features consistently with Arsenal and continue banging in goals, Ghana will call him and feature him... I understand one of the issues that delayed his signature on the new contract was his demand for a certain number of match appearances in a season.

What the guy has been asking for like many other is more gametime. When he got more gametime he scored five goals in 8 matches, that is fair enough if he maintains and improve on that.
Exactly. There's a way he'll push, he won't become 2nd CF for long, especially as his style of play is really attractive for modern managers.

Even Auba and Laca was seeing games together during their time with Emery and Arteta. I believe Nketiah would surely see game time even he puts in the work. Afterall even Gabriel Jesus dey play wing sometimes sef

You guys are overhyping this arteta too much sha, person that took him forever to know he was suppose to drop lacazette since.
Lol... That kind of coach won't drop Laca if we're still winning and playing well. Rewind the season back and Arteta will still do same thing again.

My point: You don't fix things that isn't broken.

I even commend him for trusting Nketiah when things started to go awry in terms of result (losing against Brighton and Southampton).
Now, Nketiah has the trust of Arteta and I'm sure the gaffer won't be seeing him same way he saw him last season

Henry was 22 when he joined Arsenal, same age with Nketiah now, but guess what?

In the three seasons before he joined Arsenal (both at Monaco and Juventus) Henry scored only 8 goals in 59 games!

Go and check it.

Not saying Nketiah will surpass Henry, but nothing is impossible.... in this game of football, it is so easy to underestimate or overestimate someone.

Nketiah is for cups and second half, he as given up on england and waiting for approval from fifa to switch to ghana.
He doesn't have much to prove again
While for now, I'll agree that he's 2nd choice but we don't know how far Nketiah might push for the first team shirt.

There's a way he'll push for it and even Arteta will be forced to play both. As long as he's here for long, I'm not writing off 100+ goals in all competitions. And I'm not writing him off either

Personally for me and this is for me oh, the number 14 should be retired. That number is associated with the GOAT for us and the most successful era thus far in modern football.

It was not just the goals/ assist but his demeanor, mentality, dominance and the fact that he ruled the EPL while he was here and in many cases was the face of the league for a long stretch. The iconic number expanded our fan base across the world significantly.

I don’t like it on another player, even when Walcott/ Auba were here. It is a symbolic number for me. Whenever I see 14, I remember only one player, The Great Thierry Henry!!!
