He is saying that Saka once played fullback does not mean he is a defender. He plays there but that's not what he is. ESR plays as a LW but he is an AM.

Again, you did not realise that a 433 is also a 451 depending on how you look at it. That was why I told you that football positions are only really divided into attacking players and defending players. You start talking of midfield when you want to be specific about the area the player is covering.

If I say Lacazette is a midfielder because he drops deep will you accept? But if I say he is simply an attacking player, that covers the position is a broader sense.

For one, I never said Saka is a defender all his time in arsenal, he was just converted that season to a defender. I only said just his breakout season for arsenal. The argument you are having is what I have tried to point out long before now.

We must understand that there is a difference between defenders and defending, same as attacker and attacking.

Also we must understand that in today's football tactics, you are either an attacker or a defender. There is no more term as midfielder unless you want to be specific.

In other words, a player is either an attacker or a defender. A midfielder who attacks is an attacker. A midfielder who defends is a defender.

If what you are talking about are forwards then it's the front two/three/four as the case may be. If you are talking about centre forwards or striker, then it's the guy playing top.

In summary,

Attackers include strikers, AM, wingers, etc.

Defenders include CBs, FBs, wingbacks, DMs, CMs etc.

Forwards: Strikers, wingers.

This one na another talk entirely.

I'm not doubting ESR is a Midfielder as per default but I'm talking specifically about this season what he played as. He's an attacker, only on one or 2 occasions he played in midfield this season. So automatically this season he's an attacker and that's one of the reasons he got that goals he had and not because he played midfield as you and Blueray are making us to believe.

If in 2022/2023 season Ben White start playing the striking role will you call him a defender the next season? Firmino for example is a Midfielder by default(before klopp consistently played him as a CF) but even Blueray calls him a non-scoring striker cos of the role he was positioned and I never countered him that he wasn't an attacker (or a striker)
