Exactly, we wouldn’t miss Etebo one bit should he deployed elsewhere. But I can’t say if he would be effective as a LWB. komekn: To make that statement I wonder if you are in a dream.
Argentina no get midfield. |

Iwobi replaces etebo in second half |

Argentina does not present a threat in the midfield. princfred: Etebo is offering a lot of marking and movement needed in the midfield. |

I think Etebo will offer something better than Idowu there. Ebuehi a great back up at RWB. OMANBALA1: There was a set up I had Etebor as wing back and some people came for my head. By the way, is it not Idowu does not belong to that team...weak player |

We cannot afford to bench Iwobi in this one. He got their number. His combination with our forwards will be crucial. Familiar terrain. Our left wing backs like to cut in anyway. Etebo has the runs in him to give us something similar to what Moses offers at the right. It will be bombardment from all direction with this formation/personnel. I expect the Argies to come out smoking from start to finish. We should be up to the task. Any slack moment in this one could prove detrimental. charlesemeka85: oga against argentina etebo will better utilized in the middles because of his energetic and robust style of play. why are we so obssesed with this "#10" thing? we need to chock the argies in the middle and hit them on the counter. iheanacho will be the link between the midfield and the attack as he did against iceland |

Rather Balogun at the middle in the 3-man defense raindodger13: I say we switch Balogun with Ebuehi against the Argentines. In the 4-2 friendly, Balogun was having trouble keeping up with their pace which resulted in a goal but when we put in Ebuehi, Di Maria was ineffective. |

Musa is a modern day striker who can be deployed as a wing forward or center forward. Ighalo is only effective as a CF but with a poor goals return in SE colors. do4luv14: Thank you for clarifying That bring to the question is Musa an out and out strike Same goes for nacho
When comparing movement including runs you have to take some things into consideration like position been played and others |

This is one thing we cannot control. The only thing we can control is putting up a great performance against Argentina. It’s common to rest your stars when qualification is already done and dusted. Bolowolowo: Nigeria captain Mikel slams Croatia decision to rest star players
June 22, 2018 6:02pm EDTJune 22, 2018 3:26pm EDT
The Super Eagles could find themselves relying on the Group D leaders - who plan to leave big names out against Iceland - to reach the knockout stages
Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel has called on Croatia to be professional and not rest players against Iceland in a match that could yet decide the Super Eagles' World Cup fate.
Two goals from Ahmed Musa ensured Nigeria remain in the hunt for a place in the knockout stages as they saw off Iceland in Volgograd.
Gernot Rohr's side now know that a victory over Argentina in Saint Petersburg will be enough for them to reach the last 16 for the fourth time in their history.
And though a defeat to the Albiceleste would confirm their elimination, a draw would mean they require Croatia to do them a favour against Iceland.
Croatia have already booked their place in the latter stages of the competition, and as such manager Zlatko Dalic has vowed to leave out some of his star players in a bid to conserve their fitness.
Mikel, though, does not understand the reasoning behind Dalic's decision and feels it is unfair on the rest of the teams in the group.
"I don't think it's the best thing to do," he told Goal. "This is a massive tournament - you can't rest people and give others a chance of qualification.
"They should be professional and play their best team. This is such a big stage that you can't rest players just to help other teams to qualify."
Nigeria have faced Argentina four times in their previous five World Cup appearances, losing on all four occasions, but the form of the South American outfit has raised hopes that the Super Eagles can end that run.
Lionel Messi Argentina Croatia World Cup 2018
Despite counting Lionel Messi among their number, Jorge Sampaoli's side have picked up just one point from their two games thus far, including an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Croatia on Thursday.
However, Mikel is aware that recording the victory his side require will be no easy task.
"I think they have played well. It's going to be a tough and difficult game for us."
Both Nigeria's clash with Argentina and Iceland's match with Croatia take place simultaneously at 7:00pm BST (2:00pm ET) on Tuesday June 26. |

Ehen we are talking now. I was satisfied as well. tbaba1234: He did very well. He is obviously more comfortable bombing forward on the right. Apart from bombing forward which he did at least once. He did everything expected of him and i was very satisfied. |

I never considered that pk mishap in the first place. Besides combining well with his teammates with simple passes there was nothing outstanding in his wing-back contribution IMO. tbaba1234: He was very good. Apart from the penalty which Omeruo shared a blamed. No one got past him and he kept it simple. |

I’m an Ebuehi fan, but that performance yesterday was not “outstanding” at least I’m my opinion. Let’s leave it at that. tbaba1234: He was very good. Confident on the ball and even took on his defender at least once forcing a corner. Apart from the penalty, i thought he was outstanding. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:53pm On Jun 23, 2018 |
Yes Mikel did what he was beat known for in Chelsea. He is a versatile midfielder but has far more experience at the highest level as a DM. So I was not surprised he put up a very decent shift holding the ball well. The truth is we are a counter attacking team, and we can punish Argentina again. But I hope we don’t let them score first this time. Hkana: Mikel did very well. He played his role as the Captain excellently too. I particularly liked his delay tactic. Lol
On my own, I wouldn't want us to score and defend either because doing so would give the Argies an edge. Instead, I'd rather we score, hold them off and tell all of them "WE DIE HERE!" |

Honestly I had wanted to see Simy LordBailish: Am I the only one who noticed an act of jealousy being displayed by Ighalo today against Iceland?
In the first scenario, which was just immediately Musa scored the second goal, Ighalo swiftly beckoned on Rohr to let him in apparently so as to prove himself as a better option.
Secondlyondly, Ighalo had an option to drop a flick pass to Musa who was goal bound but deliberately held on to the ball until Iwobi appeared before releasing the ball to Iwobi who eventually fired a short only to hit an Icelandic defender.
I want to believe the coach will see all of this and talk to this players before our game against Argentina. |

Ebuehi combined well with simple passes. I expected more from him though. tbaba1234: Kenneth Omeruo was massive... Infact the back three did very well. Ebuehi was assured when he came on.
Uzoho, commanding performance. |
