Nigerian Exports: Young Guns Ekong, Awoniyi, Ajagun, Omoijuanfo & Umar On Target Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi, 20, was on target in Royal Excel Mouscron's 2-2 draw with Mechelen at Stade Le Canonnier on Saturday.

On 26 minutes, the Nigeria U23 international fired home a loose ball inside the penalty area after his header was blocked by a Mechelen defender and doubled his team's advantage in the process.

Awoniyi has now tallied four goals across all competitions and has shown his creativity and unselfishness by providing three assists in eight games.

Still in Belgium, ex-Flying Eagles skipper Abdul Ajagun netted his second goal in the Belgian First Division A but could not prevent Kortrijk from losing 2-1 to KV Oostende at Guldensporenstadion.

Elsewhere, William Troost-Ekong will be hoping to take his good form into national team duty, after scoring the solitary goal for Bursaspor in their 3-1 loss at Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig.

International teammate Mikel Agu produced the assist for Troost-Ekong's goal in the 39th minute.

2016 Rio Olympics star Aminu Umar somehow managed to open his goalscoring account for the season in Osmanlıspor's 3-0 rout of Kenneth Omeruo's Kasımpaşa, despite being challenged by the goalkeeper and a defender.

Over to the Norwegian Tippeligaen, Ohi Omoijuanfo continues to occupy top spot in the scoring charts with 17 goals, after scoring two second half goals as Stabaek beat Vålerenga 4-2 at Nadderud Stadion (Bærum).

DENMARK: Superliga - Round 11

Midtjylland 4-1 Aalborg

Paul Onuachu was a sure starter in the MCH Arena -- especially considering his most recent form for Midtjylland. Although he didn't get on the scoresheet this time, he contributed to Wolves' third, with an assist. He went on to complete the encounter.

Teammate, Rilwan Hassan started side by side with Onuachu, but did not go beyond the 70th minute.

good! so what's the fuss about Osimhen?
And even Kayode

junnyjake:
He hasn't done enough.

He shouldn't have made it to the SA camp in the first place, let alone play.

I had never supported it and never will. He was given a chance to show what he's got against SA, Onyekuru was never given and since then he's not gotten a call up.

In terms of proven tested experience and a degree of quality I agree with you.

If not for work permit issues I can assure you 100% he would be playing for Brighton in the EPL. Would we then have a different opinion about him.

Which seems such a hypocritical double standard when we are considering youth players for the SE some who havent played 10 games for thier first team. Essentially youth players.

(Photo Confirmation) Nigeria Handed Boost As Iwobi Is Back In Full Training At ArsenalNigeria have been handed a fitness boost ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo, with Alex Iwobi given a clean bill of health by Arsenal medics to resume full training.

The winger took part in full training with the Gunners first team at London Colney on Saturday morning, and was photographed contesting for the ball with his good pal Chuba Akpom.

Iwobi played for the team wearing white bibs at the training session, and the team also included Alexis Sanchez, Nacho Monreal, Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey.

Chuba Akpom, Theo Walcott, Per Mertesacker, Maitland-Niles and Jack Wilshere were in the team wearing black bibs.

And that is an indication that the Super Eagles star is in line to be named in the match day squad against Brighton & Hove at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

If Iwobi features against the Seagulls and comes through the game unscathed, then he will report for international duty with the Super Eagles as from Monday, October 2.

if it's the same match we have in mind, the player caught up with Okocha tried to mark him off the ball but fell, then Okocha advanced.
Mickael2:
i think it was Bolton against Manu, he sprinted away from his marker(and the guy wasn't able to keep up) before he unleashed a strike. This was from his Bolton days, when you watch his matches for PSG you will see what he brings

Sir go and watch his videos again. you can focus on the counter situations.

Mickael2:
What is the difference between pacy and fast? Pacy is more of like a player who relies on his speed but a fast player is a player who has the speed although he may not use it unless the situation calls for it. Okocha was fast but he relies more on skills

Trust me. I've made those arguments against Mikel in the past. But if Chelsea officially sees him as their legend. Then so be it

Mickael2:
that defines precisely what Busquets does for Barcelona but that hasn't prevented him from being nominated for the accolades.

Ok, during his best patch was Mikel ever included in the FIFA best XI? Atleast there is always a DMF there, he has never even been nominated for that one as well
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:36pm On Sep 30, 2017
dude.. A holding defensive midfielder don't need speed.. That's the role he played at Chelsea. I don't know where you are heading with your sarcasm. Okocha was not very fast. Yes he did have that sudden burst going forward sometimes.

neighy:
lol.. Compared to mikel okocha was very fast and very skillful so he could easily take out defenders ... And mikel has shielding the ball to cover for it
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:30pm On Sep 30, 2017
I want to think that Mikel was more a holding defensive midfielder -- specialized defensive midfielder. Thats the aspect I think we are talking about. There are not many players that play that role. Makalele will be a good example.

Mickael2:
ok so how many times has Mikel been shortlisted in the....50man list for the Fifa World Best player? Atleast at that stage a lot of 'shields' are seen. Even Keita made it in once. Busquets is a mainstay, Ramos is there just about every year and so many other defensive players. Back to the question, did Mikel make that list after his 'legendary' contributions in 2012?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:25pm On Sep 30, 2017
Now you are talking. That's why I've been canvassing for Joel Obi. That partnership will be deadly. Joel has the pace that Mikel don't have. But pace is not everything. Okocha wasn't fast but he had many other qualities that could cover for it.

neighy:
i acknowledge the fact that nothing can be done.. Buh if only he can add pace to his game
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:21pm On Sep 30, 2017
Agreed.

TheGoodJoe:
Exactly. Coupled with the fact that Mikel played that Key role for so long at Chelsea during a domestic dominating period and trophy-filled era. That was amazing. Then doing great in the Semi-finals and Finals of the Champions League. Then AFCON. With repeated man to match performances. This should not even be a debate.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:16pm On Sep 30, 2017
Very true. I read a while back that the holding midfielder role is the MOST important role but players playing that role can be easily unnoticed.

TheGoodJoe:
Mikel will not get nominated because he did not play a flamboyant role. It is that simple. Even the board of Real Madrid thought Makelele was useless until they sold him and Zidane criticised the decision. Most times, awards and accolades go to the flamboyant role players.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:12pm On Sep 30, 2017
EXTREMELY famous. Well at least we now have reference in our debate.. But really nobody is going to win this. Chelsea said he is a legend, so be it.

Mickael2:
Mikel wasn't so famous at Chelsea so Legend? No
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:05pm On Sep 30, 2017
well, i'm going to have to revise my definition lol.. I had to go look at the dictionary.
This looks the most appropriate definition:

An extremely famous or notorious person, especially in a particular field.
Sentences: ‘the man was a living legend’
‘a screen legend’

So we are talking about a player that is extremely famous in a team. Or should I say extremely famous because of his exploits in that team?

Well I must say Mikel is Super Eagles legend considering the 2013 era till date. Kanu also was. But club performances also rub off on these players. And that can boost their legendary status.

Mickael2:
wasn't Kanu part of the team from 96 till 2010? I can remember we made the semis in all but one Afcon he participated and he scored some vital goals and earned some vital penalties and assists as well.

Chelsea's golden era can also be the year they won their first Epl or when they won it under Mou back then or when Ancelotti was destroying teams enroute to a double etc etc
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:50pm On Sep 30, 2017
Let me define it again in my own opinion.

If we are speaking of a club. I want to look at the long history of the club especially as it has to do with our lifetime. I want to look at the golden era, or the era of best achievement to see those who were monumental to that feat. Those are the ones I will consider legends.

For Super Eagles. I will consider 1994 (nations cup and our first world cup) period our only golden-generation I am conscious of. And it even spilled over to several years after when we at least made bronze several times at the AFCON. The likes of Yekini, Okocha, Amokachi, Amuneke, Rufai etc comes to mind. Nwankwo Kanu had a very successful club career than Nigerian SENIOR career.

Mickael2:
now I am confused, so despite being a vital player(not vital alone, infact irreplaceable, only about 4 players in that team were irreplaceable) in our first Afcon win since 1994 he isn't a SE legend? But for being a pivotal piece in a star-studded Chelsea team that cost almost 1bn he is a Chelsea legend?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:35pm On Sep 30, 2017
What you have here are two occasions in a short period of time (within a year?).
The striketroughs do not count. We are talking Super Eagles Legend. Or maybe you want to discus Nigerian-Footballer legend (?)

I wouldn't even put Kanu Nwankwo in the class of SuperEagles Legends for the same reason I've stated earlier.
Nigerian-Football legend? Hell yes!!!

Mickael2:
he appears in just two or three. Can you compare Mikel's achievements to any of Lampard or Drogba?

We did win the Afcon with Mikel holding our midfield, the U20 too(not SE but still) plus Olympics(granted he messed up at the world cup) but he was also great at the Confed cup so SE legend? Absolutely
