I've tried to say it times without number. Most times when we say push/displace etc, the actual reason is lack of options we have at RB. Meaning Omeruo and Obaoabona could not offer what Ambrose could offer at RB. We've not had a dedicated RBs in a long time (I think since Chidi Odiah). So what we've had for a while are players that can also play as RB. Ambrose was MOSTLY used as CB at Celtic then.

By the way, at the moment Omeruo is not it. If Omeruo gets back to good from, I won't mention Efe Ambrose. Just read he had a bad game for Kasimpasa. I hope he picks up.

So for now I'd go with Ambrose and Awaziem. Maybe Junior Pius (Tondela), in future. He was red carded just yesterday for kicking an opponent.

What age got to do with it,d same Efe Ambrose,Omeruo and Oboboana pushed to RB even when everyone expect him to replace aging Yobo,he should now be back as back up CB for Ekong and Balogun,meaning Taiye Taiwo should get a recall to back up Echiejele,even Obafemi Martins instead of calling d likes of Kayode, Nwakaeme, Oyekwuru, Aaron.

My man better to have a fit Omeruo back in d team than Efe.Thank God Awaziem is showing d class in French league, hope he replicate it in d national team.

Sir I must say even fans of Chelsea debated this issue when Mikel left for China.
But we as Nigerians especially have to respect it when Chelsea named him a legend. In fact we should even call him legend before they do.
I'm going to add another evidence that support this.

Nigeria Rio 2016 star Stanley Amuzie has received the all clear to make his debut for his loan side FC Lugano after his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) came through few days ago.

Amuzie joined the team from Italian Serie A side Sampdoria in the summer on a season long loan deal after failing to break into the first team of the Serie A side.

Since joining the team on loan in the summer, his debut has been held up by issues surrounding his ITC, but the papers came through yesterday, making him eligible to represent the team.

Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that he is in the matchday squad for their weekend league game against FC Zurich, and he could make his debut in the game.

He joined Sampdoria after excelling with the Nigeria U23 team, where his fine performances earned him two senior national team caps for Nigeria. Both coming in the back to back ill fated AFCON 2017 Qualifiers.

Efe is still very much playing week in week out in the Scottish Top tier after helping his team gain promotion.
We are speaking our CB defensive options at the moment. I'm not ruling out the like of Junior Pius and mabye Omeruo will get back in good form later. But at the moment, I can't think of any other CB besides Awaziem and Efe, as a back up for Ekong and Balogun.

You have just made a very good point! "The best player in every position" may not do justice to the way the coach PLANS to play. Besides, it's not like every player is restricted to playing just one position. As they say, football is not mathematics.

What we need is an insight to Rohr's winning philosophy, then we can have a realistic input as to whether we think it would work, or we can suggest players that would best suit his plan.

Lest we forget, the Coach's job is to assemble the best team to prosecute HIS plan, not the best players in every position. It is his prerogative to decide on formation, tactics and the right mix of players to deploy and no two people will deploy the same resources and tactics, otherwise football will be too predictable and there may no longer be need for human coaches in which case, we would find a robot which will collate all the stats available to assemble a team.

Brazil has a history. Pele was 17 when he turned heads at the world cup level. Of the two things implied in that part of the link I quoted, one remains a fact -- Ronaldo deserved to make that team. The commentator according to you said, "he MAY be too young". I'm still waiting for someone to quote the coach as saying he never intended to field Ronaldo prior to that World Cup. I've said this before and I will say it again, many teams rarely field ALL the players in their World Cup squads. Top teams usually have a star studded sides. No player just makes the numbers, but at the same time it is guaranteed that not all will play. The coach will decide when the going goes tough or when the going is well.

It's natural to assume that he was there to learn because of his age. What would you say about other players were never pulled out of the bench? where they also there to learn? As long as Ronaldo did excellently prior to that world cup, he deserved to make that team.

Ronaldo was not to play but learn. Was he good? Yes. Fortunately, he had the Brazilian league to also help nurture him. Something we do not have in our local league. Why not adopt something that also helped the quick transition.

From my personal observations, Rohr and his crew never wanted Kayoye in the team in the first place but were pressured to invite him.

I just read an article yesterday about what could have been if Ronaldo was introduced in that final. The article was of the idea that Brazilians didn't feel the team dominated like previous world cups they won. It ended by saying the question would Ronaldo9 have scored to prevent PKs, will never be answered. Interesting read. I learned something new yesterday -- Ronaldo9 earned his place in that team even at that young age.

First against USA I recall Brazil had a player sent off and they scored not so late into the game, like the 68min or so, in that case which sane manager will bring on a striker when you are one man down and you have already scored a goal?

And the final against Italy was too big an occasion to introduce a rookie who was yet to make any appearance at the world cup, if the coach had done that and they lost then he would have been killed for that. The reason why he did not play then is because he is/was a striker and strikers don't get subbed in anyhow
