Our qualification is more important than cap-tying anyone. We will have Algeria to spare. Let's give our bench (Ebuehi inclusive) a full game then, to see how they would fare.

solonnachi:
It is better we captie Tyronne Ebuehi now anyhow just to pin him down. PLEASE ROHR, INCLUDE HIM
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:38am On Sep 26, 2017
We are both saying the same thing as regards Echiejile. I even rate Aina highly, but I'd rather want him to come in as a substitute in LB, and his performance will determine if he should start there subsequently.

Back to tactical matters. A great coach will not be able to pull jack with a poor bench. That was one of our undoing against SA. The other, we failed to plan to beat South Africa. Formation wise, the 4-2-3-1 has worked best for us lately, so he has sticked to it for the most part. Ask the likes of Chelsea, and now Arsenal why they haven't reverted to their old formations. But don't forget that Rohr has also used the 4-4-2 double 6, and 4-3-3 with success.

Mickael2:
apart from Echejile I did not mention any starter so I don't think replacing them will affect the team chemistry one bit. We are still building that we all know, we already have a starting XI so now we should be looking at a bench that can provide something better than the starters or atleast something close to that level, Uche Agbo at CB or Ahmed Musa at WF isn't a step in that direction. However I get your point about team chemistry, but all to his own.

Tactical managers are managers who can pull off something extraordinary. Rohr hasn't done that, we have one stagnant formation, every substitution we make during the game is just the same as removing a 2ohm resistor from a standard resistor and trying to replace it with another 2ohm resistor, no diversity at all, 4-2-3-1 till thy kingdom come. When tactical awareness was needed against SA well we came up short and we blamed it on the absence of key players but top teams don't blame any loss on the injuries to key players. Iniesta is a great player but without him, Spain would still field a strong team with another formation, that is because the coach is tactical

I can't recall this sincerely. I think you are mistaking

Mickael2:
you weren't the one? When he called one name like that(was it dollophead?) and you said you don't know the meaning but you know it's harsh and shouldn't be used and he still insisted that he was right to insult the guy if he so wished?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:14am On Sep 26, 2017
If you wan't chemistry, you need to have a healthy measure of continuity. This has helped us to a large extent during the qualification. National football is no club football. Friendlies will be lined up. Some new players will be integrated, as the process of integration does not happen overnight. The likes of Onyekuru, and even Kayode will take a while to really announce their coming to the SE fold. We all know how long it took Ighalo before he just now made it to the core of the SE. Some of these players will be left out, but later given a second chance. Then they will snatch it like they have never done. Ask Ighalo.
Whether you like Rohr or not, he will go in the history books as our best coach, if we go beyond the second round. I think he is the best for Nigeria, because many foreign coaches will not be able to cope with NFF and their money issues. Rohr is ideal because he is hungry for success -- not for money. Tactically speaking, how would you rather have played those matches leading to our position now in qualification?

Mickael2:
how has he not convinced Rohr enough? Has he played at all? No be if you play you go showcase your skills? I keep on hammering on it, Rohr is not a fantastic coach and recently we have also discovered that his assistants too aren't tactical or technical one bit.

Now Akpeyi is back, and I am almost certain he will get plugged right back into the mix. We have Aina, Awaziem and Ebuehi plus Shehu who have all been playing very well as fullbacks for their club but Echejile again will start, we have all forgotten the number of times he got skinned during our last match against Zambia, next month might even be worse.

Can someone please explain to me the rationale behind inviting Uche Agbo(who is even a midfielder) ahead of Omeruo, Otigba and even Taye Taiwo(since our LB is weak)?

Can someone explain to me how Musa(who has been playing for the U23, same thing we accused Omeruo of) and Iheanacho(who hasn't been fit and still isn't fit) ahead of Kayode and Onyekuru(who has 4 goals in 6 games for Anderletch)? Can someone explain to me why we have not started integrating another Cmf in the team who can be a competent sub for Mikel?

I know we will beat Zambia, albeit a slim victory, but these questions will come back to haunt us against top teams, foreign coaches are usually reverred for their lack of sentiments but these recent lists have not been supporting that at all.

It wasn't me.. lol.. I didn't follow most of it..
Mickael2:
so because of that we should all go down on our knees and start begging him? Oga have some....do you have any iota of self-respect and pride at all? They exchanged insults and one hit the person who started the insults below the belt(I can remember Joebie telling him to stop the insults but he was adamant that he was yet to start sef until Pietorico started his own) and you somehow want us to go down on our knees and start begging, Oga no offence but there is a shop where they sell cheap sense

@bolded. Hopefully not. We want to see the current bench all start and do well. Else, we should welcome more competition for our bench.

Let prosecute this match first and see what happens before world cup proper. What i know is that 75% of players in d main squad w make d team to Russia.

1. I think Rohr has seen much of Alampasu. I'd like to say Ajiboye is still under watch. And Akpeyi is considered the 1st choice of the quartet.
2. The demotion of Ebuehi does not come to me as a surprise. I think he has not been useful especially against physical African oppositions. He will definitely get another look in, maybe against Algeria or for our future pre-World Cup friendlies.
3. Aremu another training material. Rohr's pick of the lot that lost to Ghana. Ifeanyi is trusted.
4. Back from injury
5. I agree with your observations

Kog45:
Jobie,pls what can u say

1)Alampasu as standby from main squad.

2)Also Ebuehi from main squad to standby

3)Afeez Aremu good for him to have d experience, also good for Ifeanyi Ifeanyi for making d standby again

4)Iwobi definitely a class that no coach w leave out.

5)Omeruo just need to regain his form back or else he w not be in Russia,Oyekwuru his time w come, Muzzam just need to settle down in his new club,Stephen Eze,how i wish he make d standby but Rohr want Adeleye who injury rule out.

Good list.

Nothing new here, besides:
1. The return of Akpeyi, relegating Alampasu to the standby list.
2. Also Tyronne Ebuehi is relegated to the standby. Uche Agbo taking his place
3. A domestic league new entrant in Afeez Aremu.
4. Of course Alex Iwobi and Aaron Samuel returning to their rightful places.
5. Omeruo, Onyekuru, Muazam, and Stephen Eze are off the list entirely.

Am I missing anything else?

Tosin is with Man City's U23 if i'm not mistaking. I've been particular about the championship.

Kog45:
The fact remain Echiejele is an average player with good packaging and very good agent,we must respect him for that,he moves out of any club either on loan or transfer d moment he discovered his starting is not guarantee, this has been his unique selling point.

This has been a plus for his ever presence in d national team and we must give kudos to him,his best form was 2012/2013 season and afcon 2013,since then no remarkable performance except WC qualifier against Algeria.Let wait and see may be he w prove us wrong against Zambia coz sometimes he rose to d occasion.

Pls Jobie is Tosin Adarabioyo of man city not a Nigerian coz i don't see guys talking about him on this thread, even thegoodjoe of man city.

Nigerians To Watch in Today's Championship Fixtures:

TIME: 7.45pm NT (All matches)

Burton Albion VS Aston Villa
Josh Onomah will travel to face Hope Akpan's Albion.
We expect the U20 World Cup winner with England to at least hop off Aston Villa's bench.
We expect the same for Akpon

Nottingham VS Fulham
Sheyi Ojo's Fulham travel to Nottingham.

Barnsley VS QPR
QPR captain, Nedum Onuoha will not be involved as he is not expected to return from injury within the next 3 months.
However, Bright Osayi-Samuel is available for selection for QPR's matchday squad today. Hopefully he finally gets the nod to play.

Bristol VS Bolton
Derik Osede will not feature for Bolton as he is still out injured.
Bolton's Sammy Ameobi also have been out due to injury since early August. It's unclear if he would return tonight.

Hull VS Preston

Hull's duo of Fikayo Tomori and Ola Aina will most likely start, as they entertain Preston.

Ipswich VS Sunderland
Dominic Lorfa is expected to maintain his regular appearance for Ipswich as they welcome Sunderland.
Tom Adeyemi is also available for Ipswich, and could likely start as has clocked 90 minutes in their last two matches.

Millwall VS Reading
Fred Onyedinma's Millwall welcome Sone Aluko's Reading. Both players are expected to feature prominently.
Tiago Ilori who started from Reading's bench last week may feature again in a similar capacity.
Reading's CB, Gabriel Osho together with teammate Ademola Shokunbi, were on for Reading's U23 side yesterday in their 2-2 draw with Norwich U23 (which paraded 17 year old defender, Mark Odusina ). Hence, both will not feature.

Thanks for catching my omissions. I will make that post and make sure I am not missing any name. In fact I hurriedly did it before bed last night.
komekn:
Can I add

Burton Albion Vs Aston Villa

With two Nigerian midfielders, Tega Onomah and Hope Akpan who play almost the same roles for thier teams.

I haven't seen Tega live for some time I may consider going down to watch the game, but not sure yet.

Also Fred Onyedinma at Millwall, I really expected to see him in the premiership suprised he is still at Millwall.

Reading Fc have the unimpressive to me Ilori but the up and coming Gabriel Osho both if them are defenders , however, I can't say much about Osho never seen him play.

Let Aina get capped first. Talking about replacing Echiejile may be a little to early.

Danielnino00:
Barring any injury,Rohr would still start Echijele against Zambia..I'm sure of it....

But my concern is, will Ola Aina be the long term replacement to Echijele?? I've been reading everywhere that he can play as a left back too..but how comfortable is he in that role? and when was the last time he played the role?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 1:03am On Sep 26, 2017
You have a valid point though!

As regards winning the world cup, as much as I don't agree that it is IMPOSSIBLE to win the world cup without a solid league, I would like us to believe what you said is true, because our chances of winning the world cup will be higher with a solid league. Nigeria especially, Nigeria will have a great chance of winning the world cup sooner. We are not like England. Far from it. Why, because a solid league would guarantee golden generations back to back. What we have now has been a long wait for the next golden generation. Let's blame that on our poor developmental structure.

goldfish80:
It's unfortunate I have to say this but I don't regard Wafu championship. Wafu us one of the most disorganised association in the world. There was a time they had 2 presidents. The mantra of the tournament have been hosting to win. Its likethe trophy is a compensation to any country who elects to host the championship. Its a far cry from what is obtainable in COSAFA and CECAFA.
When you consider you have Africa power houses in this region like Ivory coast,Senegal, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria one will expects a better and more exciting tournament but.....

Coming to Okoro, yes I rate him highly. No doubt he is a very good player. Remember some days back when he scored from the free kick, how much praise he got from people on this thread, even you. That is one of those qualities he has. If he had an off game (according to various comments, I didn't watch), then it was an off day. It doesn't remove anything from his ability or talent.

Shehu has a shocker against South Africa but look at how he bounced back against Cameroon. These things happen in football. It becomes sad if people judge home based players differently than they judge others abroad.

Our mindset (speaking about Nigerians in general) have contributed to poor standard of our league. Players have it at the back of their mind they need to move abroad at all cost so they can be recognised and probably make some money.

It may interest you to know that no NPFL Club have the full right of their players. 95% of players in the NPFL are on loan to the clubs with no commitment to these teams. Do you know why? Because they don't want to be bound by these clubs incase a foreign offer came up in the middle of the season.

Without a good league trust me, we cannot win the World Cup. Even if Tammy Abraham, Solanke and the rest of them play for Nigeria, they won't win the World Cup. You cannot build something on top of nothing.

Check the list of world cup winning countries and see if you can find one without a solid league.
