Watching his play, he will make a difference in SE. His style stands out. Kog45: The big question are we going to miss him?,not yet cap,so one cannot say cuz we have CFs doing it week in week out but Orban will give us real dynamism in eagles if going by what he is doing in Belgium.
We need to cap him fast. |

Hahaha I cannot speak to that. Maybe you can argue on specific attributes AndSunGorilla: But Joe,yes Nwakali played in AFCON but what about the comparison to KDB and the temerity to say Nwakali is better than Amrabat? Anyway make I talk my own, Moses Simon is better than Messi and Messi won't make our 1st 11 : |

Scouts for club or any team for that matter must make a case with analysis and stats. The question, is the player proven? will always come up. If you are not proven in a top league, at least be proven in a lower league. Well, I guess we are saying the same thing TheGoodJoe:
However, if we need a player who has a particular attribute that we need, and he is not the best in Europe but the best among those in our team, he should be called up.
Saying he is playing in a low league is missing out the key point, which is the attribute he offers. That must be factored into the debate. |

If anyone feels another player is better, they should make their argument Kog45: Sincerely we need him in SE based on what we have but when there is contrary opinion it is hate on him |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:34pm On Aug 22, 2023 |
I don’t think it all started that way. There was a time I argued that Nwakali has not performed to warrant invitation to SE. And it was the fact then because the stats were not good enough even in a lower league. It was me and some of us against Nerdie and a host of others then. I remember cautioning one of those in my group that if we are not careful some of us will never see anything good about the player no matter what. So we need to separate these things and not be biased. When a player is doing well, say it as it is. If the player is not meeting up, say it as well. Modified If you are playing in a lower league you have to be among the best there. It has to be proven. TheGoodJoe:
There is literally a campaign against Kelechi Nwakali here and it has nothing to do with his performance. Most who criticize are actually people that have watched nothing about him. It is not issue based but just pure negativity. |

It’s a hype when you make it seem bigger than what it is.
Was Nwakali one of the best in the Segunda last season? YES. Has he started this season brightly? YES Is he SE material today? YES if he continues this way in Liga Portugal. Is SE in need of his skill set (dead balls, hold up play, pin point long passes etc)? YES
O pari. |

Wait. Who never play for SE for AFCON? daveP: The thing is we should hype with sense. Once a hype peaks the Delulumeter, no sort of explanation or defence can make it settles ever again.
Someone has not played for SE in even an afcon, and they're already saying he's better midfielder than Sofyan that was consistent with top Performance at the World cup vs teams that SE can't even really brag of defeating??
Then someone added KDB to the mix
I have to lose it. I must lose it like the basketball babe that gave Liz Cambage flying Stone cold punch. Haba.
It's further annoying that the hype is way more than what others have gotten in last 20yrs from Naija football.

Ovie Ejaria still with Reading now in League One. Hasn’t played a game in a while.
Coach Ruben Selles had this to say recently.
“The only two players who are not fit to play are Sam Smith and Ovie Ejaria. All the others are fit and it’s my decision whether they are in the squad or not.” |

Stats of those players are shared here even prior to when I do am recently charlesemeka85: there was a time I never really believed osimhen when he was scoring for fun at Charleroi in Belgium but he turned me to he’s biggest fan when he moved to lille and performed massively in France before earning a big money move to Napoli
Today osimhen is my dream striker for my beloved club man united. Also didn’t really rate awoniyi but today I am a big fan
Any small argument they will run out to post stats but will turn blind eyes to that of others
How many times hv u seen the stats of onyedika here? If not for anything he is doing massively well in the colors of one of Belgium’s greatest clubs club Brugge and also did well in the ucl and Europa league
How many times hv u seen the stats of midfield sound sultan alhassan here
U don ever see awoniyi stat here or that of Boniface?

I have been CLOSELY following the performances of Nwakali for the past 12 months or so. And all I have done is present stats. The context is who do we have in our midfield? Today he plays in the Portuguese top tier and he is still performing. We have the choice to go for our best and we still have to follow the facts. We cannot borrow midfielders from other countries. Besides those that have dual nationalities we need to convince, Nwakali stands out for consideration among those we can get on the plane easily simply by just putting a call. And besides, he does have skillsets that we need in this current team. |
