Ask4Info: Dear Nigerian Youths,
Irrespective of your ethnicity, whether from the South East, South South, North East, North Central, North West, or South West, irrespective of whether you are a Muslim, Christian, or Traditional Worshipper. Irrespective of whether you are a Graduate, Semi illiterate or total illiterate. Whether you are Rich or Poor, Young or Old, Able bodied or disabled, Guy or Lady, you all need to do yourself, children and unborn lineage a big favour. You need to unite come 2019 and chase all these greedy men and women out of the political sphere. Whether they are APC, PDP, AD, UNDP, LP or any party they call themselves.
These people unite in emptying the National Treasure but turn you all against each other. Ask yourselves the following:
1) If truly Muslims and Christians are enemies like they make you believe, How come Igbinedion has given out two of his daughters to Muslim men? How come Atiku married 2 Christian women and his children doing same. How come Babangida married a Christian woman?
2) How come their children are never in the country during elections or at least help their parents to snatch one ballot box or the other?
3) How come none of them ever pass policies that benefits the common man?
Nigerian youths you all need to wake up. Amen!. But it's hard to reason with a foolish man, albeit a man who is hungry. Hunger can do it whole lot of damage to a man's mind. |

vizkiz: Poverty mentality. So it is okay for a millionaire, politician and a musician to have private jets but a pastor is subjected to suffering right?
Serving God doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy things because the earth is the lord's and the fullness therein
Before most of you (seun inclusive) come to nairaland to type junk maybe you should just take a minute and go through the Bible then read with your IQ (if you have any) not just rush to prove a void point Is a pastor the same as a. Millionaire or businessman? You comparing a pastor to this set of people mean you absolutely have no idea what you're saying. A million owns a business that yields him profit, tell me, what business does a pastor own? Is winning souls for Christ the same as owning a multi-million dollar business? |

xolomonstrides: Its a case of the forces of demand and supply. Get your facts right, oil prices increased this week with the artificial scarcity ( supply cut) policy of OPEC. To how much? Compare that price to what it was last year, before the crash. And no one is saying depend solely on oil, diversifying does not mean DO NOT GET INCOME FROM OIL it means getting maximum income from all available potential sources of revenue. Economist would understand the meaning of UNDEREMPLOYMENT of resources and production below capacity as well as the dangers that come with it. The government is still saying "depend solely on oil" if the government has any plan(s) to diversify, we would have heard about it and see proof. |

Politics › Re: Crude Oil Discovered In Borno State....... FG by JoeBlocks(m): 5:19pm On Dec 16, 2016 |
obailala: Instead of you to canvass for the families of those who lost their lives not to be neglected, you are calling for total closure of the mine even whilst it is your only source of income. That is what happens when you approach issues purely out of emotions. Canvass for the family of those who lost their lives not to get neglected? Now if this government knows what its doing in the first place, why would any sane person need to canvass for support for the families of those who lost their lives in the first place. Yes the country needs a lot of money to diversify, it needs MONEY + TIME.... And for your info, just in case you do not know, it is not the N38bn spent on oil exploration that is preventing diversification, a lot of people seem to mix this up. Like I said before, Diversifying does not entail abandoning a proven source of income; it means 'adding to your source'.
It takes money to make money and for every single oil well feeding the nation today, money was spent to explore and exploit it, and money is still been spent as we speak to further maintain them and sink new ones to be able to sustain our production levels. You (just like many others) obviously have a particular reservation against this case simply because it is in the north, not anything else. Just a simple question, how much does it take to completely diversify the nigerian economy? just a reduction in oil prices tumbled Nigeria's econony and here you are still asking why the government us seeking oil. Probably you are one of those who believe the present recession and untold hardship in the country is just buhari's doing and has nothing to do with oil?.. else I wonder why anyone would be asking this question you put up there.
Wherever you read about government not knowing how many oil wells we have, you can do yourself a favour by going back to read the content of the report (not just the title). The bolded is non sequitor!. The drop of oil prices crashed the nigerian economy, so why is the government seeking oil again in the first place? When oil price has crashed? This doesn't make sense. A sensible government would have looked for an alternate means of income, not looking for crude oil. |

Politics › Re: Crude Oil Discovered In Borno State....... FG by JoeBlocks(m): 12:07pm On Dec 16, 2016 |
obailala: Nope! you are wrong and you apparently see things from a naive idealist perspective... That I work in a coal mine and that the coal mine has killed people and brought sorrow, that doesnt mean I dont NEED the coal and the income that comes from it; at least until I can get a suitable replacement. The sensible thing to do under such circumstance is to keep looking for ways to eliminate/reduce the troubles and sorrow that comes with the job. Wrong! Even if you need the coal, that doesn't mean you neglect the families of those who lost their lives as a result of working in the coal mine. Neither does it mean you neglect the damage the coal mine has done to the environment. Oil currently produces up to 90% of Nigeria’s income, it is a proven source of income for the country even at its current low price. Whilst the nation needs to diversify, it actually needs a lot of money to do that and for now, oil is still he only source; it cannot be wished away. Before oil, agriculture was totally it. What happened? You speak of t country needing 'many money' in diversifying the economy, yet this same country pumped money into oil exploration in the north. If you ask me, I'll say, the sensible thing to do is put a halt into any further search for crude oil, we have enough functioning oil wells already. I read somewhere (I'm not sure where) that the government doesn't know how many oil wells we have in the country. If this bit of news is correct, you'd ask yourself why this same government is still seeking for oil. |
Politics › Re: Crude Oil Discovered In Borno State....... FG by JoeBlocks(m): 9:38am On Dec 16, 2016 |
obailala: The country needs to diversify doesnt mean it is not worth celebrating when we find means of getting more money from oil. Diversification doesnt mean outright abandonment of your previous (proven) source of income. It is strange that a lot of people don't understand this common-sensical fact. Even when that source of income has crashed And doesn't give you money like it used to? I still smile when I see people don't understand what it means for one to look beyond a source of income that has caused nothing but trouble since day one. Rejoicing about a thing that causes trouble at the expense of lives isn't worth it, at all. Not to talk about the environmental degradation that source of income brings. |

DropShot: Why are you annoyed about that prospect? What's there to be happy about? The in-thing to be asked is how have the oil been beneficial to the host communities and nigerians at large. I find it funny that aa country shouting about diversifying her economy is still shouting and making merry about crude oil discovery. |

Seun: This is a painful but necessary step. Greed and stupidity are a bad combination for someone who manages other peoples' money for a living. Not forgetting banks and bankers are among the most greedy set of people in the country. Having a legitimate institution that rip people off at will is the classic example of operating an imperialistic organisation. |
