One of the lead speakers at the Northern Leaders’ Conference, Usman Bugaje, has raised a controversial issue on the ownership of Nigeria’s crude oil domiciled majorly in the Niger Delta region.
According to him, it is wrong for any state to claim that it is oil producing because 72% of the total land mass in the country belonged to the North and that by the United Nation’s law; it is only the North that actually has the right to claim ownership.
Dr. Bugaje, in his presentation, insisted that “there are no oil producing states.” He argued that “the only oil producing state is the Nigerian state itself.”
He explained, “Whatever mileage you get in the sea, according to the United Nations Law of the sea, is a measure of the land mass that you have; that is what gives you the mileage into the sea…and the land mass of this country, that gives that long 200 nautical miles or more into the ocean, is because of that 72% of the land mass of this country, which is the North.”
To buttress his argument, Dr. Bugaje also said, “The investment came from the Nigerian state and the territory belongs to the Nigerian state.”
He further maintained, “What they claim is the off shore oil is actually the oil of the North” contending that “we should stop using these terms that have no sense at all. There are no oil producing states.”

Hillary Clinton obliquely criticized her rival Donald Trump’s worldview in a speech Monday afternoon addressing the recent terrorist attack in Orlando.
The former secretary of state said divisive rhetoric targeting Muslims makes law enforcement’s job harder and alienates contacts in the Muslim-American community who can play a critical role in preventing future attacks.
“Inflammatory anti-Muslim rhetoric threatening to ban the families and friends of Muslim-Americans… hurts the vast majority of Muslims who love freedom and hate terrorism,” she said in the address in Cleveland.
Clinton said hate crimes against Muslims and mosques tripled after the terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, Calif., at the end of last year.
“That’s wrong, and it’s also dangerous. It plays right into the terrorists’ hands,” the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said.
Clinton recast her speech to focus on terrorism after last weekend’s attack against a gay-themed nightclub in Orlando. She told the crowd “Today is not a day for politics,” and emphasized her own planned response to ISIS, the so-called Islamic State, her belief that assault weapons like the AR-15 the attacker used “have no place on our streets” and her plan to stop lone-wolf attacks if she’s elected president.
But without naming her Republican opponent, Clinton nevertheless rebuked Trump’s response to the attack thus far. Trump reiterated his call for a temporary ban on Muslim travel to the United States and criticized Clinton and President Obama for not referring to the shooting as an act of “radical Islamic terrorism.” He called for Obama’s resignation and for Clinton to leave the presidential race because of this omission, although, on Monday morning, she acknowledged that “radical Islamism” was one way of describing the Orlando gunman’s ideology.
“This has always been a country of we, not me,” Clinton said in her Cleveland speech, calling for unity in response to the mass shooting. She also said, “We are not a land of winners and losers,” calling on Americans to lift each other up.
In her speech, Clinton described the threat ISIS poses to the United States as dire, and referred to ISIS as “radical jihadists” who distort Islam to justify killing innocent people. She also said that the United States should “keep the pressure on ramping up the air campaign” against ISIS.
“The Orlando terrorist may be dead, but the virus that poisoned his mind remains very much alive,” she said. “We know already the barbarity that we face from radical jihadists is profound.”

Donald J. Trump said on Monday that the massacre in Orlando justified his call for a ban on Muslim immigration and warned that if Hillary Clinton were elected president, thousands of potential Islamic terrorists would flood into the country with the intention of slaughtering innocent Americans.

Mrs. Clinton, meanwhile, warned that Mr. Trump’s anti-Muslim stances were damaging efforts to defeat terrorism and vowed to step up airstrikes against the Islamic State while working with the private sector to root out so-called lone wolf terrorists who are often recruited or inspired online.

The two candidates issued their critiques of one another a day after an American citizen born to Afghan immigrants, declaring his allegiance to ISIS, killed 49 people and wounded 53 at a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Mr. Trump vowed to give the authorities more tools to clamp down on terrorists and that, if elected, he would use his executive powers to keep foreign Muslims from entering the country for an indefinite period of time.

“They have put political correctness above common sense, above your safety and above all else,” Mr. Trump said Monday afternoon at Saint Anselm College in Goffstown, N.H. “I refuse to be politically correct.”

Indeed, Mr. Trump appeared to broaden his call for a ban on Muslim immigration, extending it to whole regions rather than applying it strictly according to religion. He said he would “suspend immigration from areas of the world where there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats.”

And Mr. Trump said that he wanted to work with American Muslims to fight terrorism, but continued to insinuate that they were looking the other way as terror plots unfold and called on them to reveal what they know.

“Muslim communities must cooperate with law enforcement and turn in the people who they know are bad – and they do know where they are,” Mr. Trump said.

Although his proposals were not new, his forceful call for such provocative ideas demonstrated that he does not intend to temper his tone for a general election audience.

WASHINGTON — While U.S. investigators are still trying to determine if there were any actual links between the Orlando shooter, 29-year-old American-born Omar Mateen, and the Islamic State terror group, Islamic State supporters moved quickly to claim responsibility.

The Amaq News Agency, essentially a propaganda arm of IS, issued statements both in Arabic and English Sunday. The English language statement said the nightclub attack was “carried out by an Islamic State fighter,” and it claimed more than 100 homosexuals had been killed.

“That’s a legitimate claim,” said Thomas Joscelyn, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

“But that doesn’t mean that Mateen was directed or acting under the orders of the Islamic State,” he said. “It could be that Amaq is just playing off news reports that say Mateen swore allegiance to Islamic State either before or during the attack.”

Still, experts worry this is the type of attention that IS craves, especially given the growing string of setbacks the terror group and self-proclaimed caliphate has been suffering on the battlefield in Syria and Iraq, as well as in Libya.

“From their perspective, it doesn’t matter if he (Mateen) was acting under the orders of Islamic State or not,” Joscelyn said. “It’s a big PR win to have one of their supporters do it.”

Early indications are that the Orlando nightclub attack may have, at least briefly, reenergized IS followers on social media.

“IS English language supporters on Twitter attempting a comeback,” terror expert and author J.M. Berger posted on his @intelwire Twitter account Sunday, adding “one account tweeting 130+ per hour.”

Syria (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the attack early Sunday morning at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida that left at least 50 dead and 53 injured.

The group's official radio station, al-Bayan, said Monday morning that, "Over 100 Crusaders killed and injured after an attack on their gathering at a night club in America."

"We begin from America, where Allah has enabled brother Omar Mateen, one of the soldiers of the Caliphate in America, to carry out a raid where he was able to infiltrate a Crusaders' gathering at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida. Allah enabled him to inflict heavy casualties amongst the filthy Crusaders. He killed and injured over a hundred of them. This is the biggest raid to be carried in America after the raid of Manhattan 16 years ago. All praise to Allah."

ISIS has in the past claimed responsibility for attacks that did not originate within their command structure or territory, and analysts say this latest claim still does not prove ISIS was directly involved in the shooting.

Omar Mateen, CBS News confirms. Officials are still investigating the exact motives for the shooting, and both ties to radical Islam as well as a general hate crime motivation are being considered.

A U.S. intel source tells CBS News that Mateen called 911 during the shooting from the bathroom. They called him back and that is when Mateen pledged alliance to ISIS and al Baghdadi.
The source tells CBS News that Mateen made two foreign trips, one in 2011 to Dubai and one to Saudi Arabia in 2012.

He was not on a current watch list. He was on the Terrorist Screening database when the FBI was questioning him. The source tells CBS News he was removed when the FBI closed their investigation.

The 2013 investigation began when Mateen told co-workers and others he knew the Tsarnaev brothers who were responsible for the Boston marathon bombings.

The FBI confirmed at a press conference Sunday afternoon that federal authorities twice looked into Mateen in the past.

In 2014, Mateen was questioned because of what FBI Special Agent Ron Hopper called a possible connection to a suicide bomber
Hopper said agents contacted Mateen three times, but ultimately determined there was no reason to pursue an investigation.

"Those interviews turned out to be inconclusive so there was nothing to keep the investigation going," Hopper said.

Mateen's ex-wife told The Washington Post that she met him online about eight years ago and decided to move to Florida and marry him. The ex-wife, who wasn't named in the report, says at first the marriage was normal, but then he became abusive.

They were together for only a few months and her parents intervened when they learned Mateen had assaulted her. She says he wasn't very religious and gave no signs of radical Islam.

She said he owned a small-caliber handgun and worked as a guard at a nearby facility for juvenile delinquents.

Mateen's ex-wife said his family was from Afghanistan, but her ex-husband was born in New York. His family later moved to Florida.

CAIRO (Reuters) - Islamic State's Amaq news agency said on Sunday that the Islamist militant group was responsible for the shooting that killed at least 50 people in a massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

"The armed attack that targeted a gay night club in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida which left over 100 people dead or injured was carried out by an Islamic State fighter," Amaq said.

Scam Alert: FG Promise of 500,000 teachers job at N23,000 a month ( Red Flag)

The country is thrown into commotion as gullible youth running here and there for e- registration. the Federal Government promised another frivolous N-Power which claimed 500,000 jobs at N23,000 a month? Parent from different part of the country calling their children to go and register... I feel so bittered by this open fraud and couldn't help but come here to vent my feelings.

Before I start let me do the maths.

N23,000 X 500,000 = N11,500,000,000 Per Month (Red Flag)

N11,500,000,000 X 12 = N133,000,000,000 Per Year (Red Flag)

N133,000,000,000 X 2 = N276,000,000,000 Two Years. (Red Flag)

Where will the federal government get all this money from? Now that the oil price has fallen and the continues attack on oil installation by Niger Delta Avengers.? Many state have not paid 6 months workers salary with low or no allocation from federal government. This NPower scheme didn't reflect in the national budget. some body should help me with where is this money coming from?

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as unrealistic, saying it is meant to deceive and misdirect the electorates.

According to the ruling party, the opposition’s promise to pay N5, 000 monthly stipend each to 25 million poor Nigerians would amount to N125 billion monthly and N1.5 trillion every year. At a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, said this cannot be achieved, given the poor state of the nation’s economy and dwindling oil revenue.“What is baffling is that the APC knows fully well that this is not only unrealistic but also impracticable in a nation with an estimated budget of N4.69 trillion comprising recurrent and capital expenditures yet they continue to dish it out to unsuspecting citizens in a clear bid to mislead.

“Since its formation about two years ago, the APC has introduced and sustained an unfortunate political streak sustained majorly by lies, character assassination, false alarm, wild allegations, and lately visual simulation, all in the desperation to deceive and misdirect the judgment of the electorates.

“We have with us an opposition party, which has been deploying all manner of schemes to derail and compromise the electoral process. Today, if the APC is not instigating violence or threatening democracy and our very existence as a nation, the party is busy procuring criminal hi-tech to hack into INEC’s data-base or clone the Permanent Voters Card (PVC).

“The next day, the same party would connive with some unscrupulous electoral officers to deny non-indigenes in some selected States their PVCs while busy making bogus promises to the electorates,” Metuh said.The PDP also faulted what it described as the opposition’s promise to create 740, 000 direct jobs in each of the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory within one year, with one million jobs for Igbo youths within the same period.

Continuing, Metuh said: “The APC has also promised to provide free education, daily free meals for millions of Nigerian school children, free tertiary education, free health care and free houses to Nigerians. The opposition knows too well that this is unrealistic yet they prefer to brandish falsehood.

“The APC should explain to Nigerians how they would fulfill their promises with the prevailing 40 per cent drop in national income and dwindling oil price in the international market. “
