RomanceRe: Reply To: Chai! Nigerian Girls In Canada Are So Lonely! by Joguns(m): 5:08pm On Apr 09, 2020
whizqueen:
My friend sent me this thread last night but I had too much to say so here we go.

I (A Nigerian girl living in Canada) will be responding to the OP's points and some other comments I found on the thread.

Are Nigerian Ladies in Canada lonely? Ofcourse we are! Are Nigerian girls in NIGERIA lonely? Hell yeah!!! Are Nigerian girls in other countries lonely? Absolutely!!!!! Being lonely is not a factor of location or person. It's about not finding the right friends/partner you vibe with.

Why did we immigrate? Bros are you kidding me? Canadian govt is paying me $2000 monthly and other benefits for losing income due to covid-19 Is that happening in Naija right now? All the money donated by philanthropist in Nigeria would soon disappear into the thin air without our govt giving explanation of any sort. Ofcourse, it's not bed of roses abroad neither were we expecting a man wrapped in a gift bag but please don't let your sentiments cloud your reasoning as to why people make immigration decisions abeg.

I personally feel attacked cry grin I recently posted a video on my YouTube Channel about finding love & online dating in Canada. It's asif this hope saw my video and wanted to attack me

What makes you think we would be interested in you to begin with? Don't pride yourself too much plis dear

If you like let the OP influence your decision and stop you from chasing your immigration dreams, last last it's up to you to decide what you want for your future.

Whilst I would agree with growing together with your partner and building with them. I think it's just shallow minded of anyone in this age and time to ask for women to chase marriage first before career. Marriage is not the ultimate not everyone sees marriage as an achievement. These days, if you crave for sex so much, you can pay someone to do it or get yourself a Love Machine, if you want a child, you can literally just buy a sperm and save yourself lots of stress. Most of us are yet to keep an open mind to these things, however if you want something badly there;s always a way to get it.

Most Nigerian men hate to see it happen, there are laws that protect women here and they would prefer dying single than to see women as their equals. A good number of them are control freaks and would rather their woman be at their beck and call for everything as opposed to having their marriage work as a partnership. Nigerian married man knowing the laws of the land will still go ahead and cheat on his wife with a girl living in the same condo with his wife. Una no even dey fear or respect una madam. If atall you really want to cheat, you cannot travel to Nigeria and secretly mess with girls that fancy IJGB crew or allen avenue. As expected, some women do exploit the situation but if you find yourself a god-fearing person and you do the right thing, no divorce laws or child custody issue would stop y'all from flourishing.

White men dont find us attractive? Laughs is Swahili
On the contrary most men of other races have FETISH for Nigerian girls and Black girls in general. Maybe not long term in all cases tho but they reaaaaaaally fancy us and admire our enthusiasm towards life. Whilst most Nigerian girls would likely not wanna go for the likes of 'Ryan', 'Billy' and co it's not cos we don't find them attractive. Firstly, Naija guys are smart, intelligent and goal oriented. You see the average ones already have plans for their future and working towards it unlike the counterparts who are comfortable with just a high school degree. If a Naija guy is even into technical jobs he would try to be the best at it and work towards starting his own company in the near future. Secondly, coping with someone with a different culture, lifestyle, food, etc is honestly stressful. I was talking with one Persian guy and he said before we can kiss or hold hands, we have to be temporarily married. undecided The other chinese guy is only about 5ft tall, I'm just wondering what he would look like in that department shocked

In Nigeria, when you visit a guy at home, some would expect you to know that's express ticket to get laid with them. But here if you visit a guy at home, you can be almost certain that if you guys have sex it's cos you wanted it, no guy will try to lure or manipulate you to straff them or tell you when you came to my house what were you thinking. They know it's important to ask for your opinion or even avoid the whole situation altogether.

Something the OP failed to address is that the Loneliness spans across both men and women living in Diaspora. Even the white people find it hard getting a partner for themselves much less an immigrant that would probably take some time to fully settle in. The system is built to have everyone mind their business, that togetherness or family-spirit is missing.

All the naija guys and ladies in Toronto have finish dating themselves. It's such a small city, everyone knows eachother thru another person only a matter of time before you find out that; the guy toasting you is ex with your colleagues' friend. Or the guy you matched with on the dating app went on a date with your housemate the day before. Some would be married and they would be on the dating apps lying to other women.

Some of us don't even mind going back home to bring men here, but 'em guys just they find paper. Only few genuinely love and care for you. I kuku know people here already do that as business tho, some ladies/guys now charge up to $30,000 to marry people from home to help them get residency here.

There are tons of Nigerians in Canada groups on WhatsApp and Telegram some are just for singles and you find people of age 35, 40, etc filled with both women and MEN. Some guys eventually resort to going back home to marry the less exposed girls, but guess what happens once they reach YYZ airport? Oh well your guess is as good as mine. Their eyes go open finish.

A good number of Naija guys are single and desperately finding love as well as ladies. Truth is, we all crave for love. And that's not a bad thing to want. Finding a good match or significant other is a honestly a game of chance. Home and Abroad, White or Black race finding a partner is truly difficult and if you got lucky finding that one special person, you better love and cherish them truly.

I rest my case; I am in the comment section waiting for someone to jump on my mention and before you do so just remember: Opinions are like as5holes and everyone is entitled to one. So this is my opinion, I have free time today grin

The Northern Elites are the problems of the North. If becoming an Almajiri is religious why are the children of Atiku, Babangida, Buhari, Ganduje n co not in the Almajiri System. Abi are they not Muslims?

I was watching a YouTube video on the Almajiri System n I discovered that it is also a problem in Senegal. Why Black African Muslims? Are they better Muslims than those in Morroco, Algeria, Tunisia?

Thank you Ganduje but a policy pronouncement is far different from a policy implementation as one Alhaji said up in the post.
Will this work? Only time will tell
You should also mention Saudi Arabia, UAE in which Dubai is a nation-state, Malaysia, Indonesia etc. Are these ones not Muslim nations also? Why must Nigeria's own be in love with illiteracy and underdevelopment? Are they more pious than the ones in Dubai and other places?
PoliticsRe: As Nigerians, Can We Ever Witness Stable Electricity In Our Life Time? by Joguns(m): 9:11pm On Jan 10, 2020
Unless you dissolve the Federal system and embrace true Federalism and autonomy for the component States. The way it is now, concentrating power at the Centre, with a unique Nigerian Federal system that looks so juicy to so many sections of the country, it will be difficult to lift the country to the heights it should be. No FG can be in charge of NPA, Nigeria Ports Authority, NAA, Nigerian Airports Authority, TCN, Transmission Corporation of Nigeria, etc and you expect it to perform. Remember Ajaokuta Steel Complex, Nigeria Airways etc. It's too messy for a Central to try to be in charge of everything.
Besides, that collective will to develop this country is just missing.

Nonsense...so the two have been the ones responsible for the National Grid breakdowns in rainy season as well as in dry season? Gencos failures, archaic TCN infrastructures? Discos inability to evacuate power and provide meters? archaic National Grid systems? Uncompleted power projects? Mr. Minister, you people have just 3 years left. Stop chasing shadows. You have been a ghost worker...
PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Power Supply Drops By 385.65 Megawatts by Joguns(m): 8:26pm On Jan 04, 2020
Sweeetheart:
I know something like this will surely happened when that cow that was appointed minister of darkness release a press that Nigeria should pray for him despite huge allocation budgeted to his ministry

to think the dude is an engineer beat my imagination, even Fashola that was a lawyer didn't have worse record like this. ever since he resumed office, the megawatt is rather retrogressing, no improvement

let Buhari keep appointing incompetent fools in the course of my people must dominate, the record will be there for him after his exit in 2023
People were criticising and critical of the choice of Fashola then, that being a lawyer, what competence did he have handling the power sector? Truth is with him at the helm of the power affairs, he held a clout as a former successful Governor; as a result, he put the entire Power sector on its toes. Constantly asserting himself on the sector and regularly briefing Nigerians on the proposed incremental plans. Truth is 2 weeks before May 29, 2019, when Ministers had to hand over from various ministerial positions and handover to the Permanent Secretaries, the performance of the Power Sector took a dip; power supply in this area was an all time high of 12hrs per day. Immediately Fashola handed over, it took a dip. Now, it's barely 3 to 4 hrs in 2 days or so. With Fashola at the helm of affairs, the Discos were kept on their toes.

Now it is dry season, they are complaining of shortage of gas. During the rainy season, with too much rain and everywhere flooded, the Discos were scared of evacuating power from the Gencos because of outdated infrastructure, thereby crippling the National Grid with redundant power. It is dry season now, no rain to disturb, but it's another complaint entirely.
Truth is Mamman Saleh has been missing in action.
PoliticsIs Power Minister Saleh Mamman A Ghost Worker? [opinion] by Joguns(op): 12:01pm On Dec 24, 2019
This article is from the pulse.ng [https://www.pulse.ng/news/local/saleh-mamman-is-nigerias-power-minister-a-ghost-worker-opinion/3lqc6xw.amp][rias-power-minister-a-ghost-worker-opinion/3lqc6xw.amp-power-minister-a-ghost-worker-opinion/3lqc6xw.amp]
As Nigeria grapples with endemic electricity problems, its power minister has been nowhere to be found.

It says a lot about Nigeria’s new Power Minister, Engr Saleh Mamman, that when electricity workers downed tools and the grid collapsed for the 12th time this year, no one mentioned his name as a solution to the problem.

Mamman was also nowhere close to providing answers to burning questions around the troubled electricity sector and issued no press statement in anger to reassure Nigerians in darkness. He remained behind the shadows where he’s been since he succeeded Babatunde Raji Fashola as power minister on August 21.

For all his foibles and endless excuses, Fashola did provide a blueprint to get us out of this perennial darkness from the moment he was sworn in. He had something resembling a philosophy. Fashola would go on and on about his incremental, stable and uninterrupted power road map, never mind that by the time he was leaving, he said there is little the government can do to reform an electricity sector that had been sold to corrupt politicians long before he got the job.
Mamman is silent in comparison. He stirs no debate, offers nothing resembling hope, has no media team, has never addressed a press conference of note, grants no interviews, is yet to embark on a tour of power facilities worth recording, has no philosophy or road map to cite or quote and carries on like he’s not in charge of the most important ministry in the federation.

Go through Google and there's not a recent, clear picture of Mamman anywhere.

Yet Nigeria’s power sector requires a hands-on supervisor--one who is available round-the-clock. A media savvy gentleman who provides a grasp of the issues articulately. This engineer looks so out of his depth and invisible already.

It’s Christmas time in Nigeria and most of the country is in darkness. Power supply is as erratic as ever, electricity workers are complaining, gencos and discos are forever on a warpath, Nigeria can only guarantee 4,000megawatts of electricity at the best of times and Mamman is providing no policy direction of his own to hang onto.

Mamman needs to be told how important and critical his sector is. For now, it’s sufficient to say he hasn’t got a clue.

Before May 29, power supply to most areas here was 12hrs per day on an average. Two weeks before then, rather when Ministers had to hand-over, and Fashola handed over, it started plummeting. Now, it is 3 or 4hrs per day here after Inauguration.
Why two-step forward and one-backward?

Oga Ade, aint we now saying the same thing? the monopoly enjoyed by DISCOs was as a result of the wicked contract Jonathan signed with them and to terminate such we need to pay heavy fine that we dont have.... currently Discos are rejecting Power hence the reason why Gencos are selling power abroad.. if a state Generates power, a law says it most deliver to national grid, another law states that substation cant transmit power for more than 12hrs straight and the worst of the laws states that DISCOs most be in charge of distribution.... So Oga Ade if you were Buhari what would you do?
That law...grid...is the problem; it means we are not ready to join other nations who have steady supply of power. Is it grid system that South Africa, Ghana, Egypt must operate by? It is just fear on the Nigerian state that states will become independent steadily.
PoliticsRe: 9 Hours Of Darkness As National Grid Collapses For The 10th Time In 2019 by Joguns(m): 12:03pm On Sep 01, 2019
Just don't know what is going on with this country; how can a nation be treating its citizens like this? There's been no power supply in Akure now for about 5 days, no wonder it's grid collapse. How can a whole nation be on a single mono grid? Have the leaders of this nation thought about the advent of war? Remember the U.S.-IRAQ war. Why would a nation knowing other nations don't operate and depend on National grid be so obstinate and depend on national grid? Which nation subjects its citizens to such treatment without apologies and explanations for power failure? The whole U.S. east coast is preparing for Hurricane Dorian now and their government is already planning for the welfare of their citizens; Nigeria doesn't experience Hurricanes, Tornadoes, earthquakes etc, but why would power be gone for days without a flicker? Why treat the power issue as expendable?

There's been no electricity in Akure for the past 8 days; no one is giving any explanation, no apologies etc. It's the like Grid system from Osogbo has collapsed in the past one month. Will this happen in any advanced country leaving your citizens without power supply for so long without any apologies?

PoliticsRe: PDP Attacks INEC Chairman, Yakubu, Says Commission Most Corrupt, Compromised by Joguns(m): 8:31pm On Jun 28, 2019
Wisdom58:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday berated the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, for claiming that the commission was the most improved service institution in the country.

It said “in reality, it has become the most debased, degraded and corrupted institution, particularly with the rigging of the 2019 Presidential election.”

PDP insisted that the remark credited to Yakubu was an indication that INEC was the most debased and compromised institution in Nigeria.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the former ruling party said “making such reckless claims at a time Nigerians and the international community are in huge disappointment over the
irregularities, violation of rules, alteration of results and outright rigging that characterized the last elections, Prof. Yakubu has further confirmed that the commission under his watch is decadent and compromised.

“It is indeed outrageous that while Nigerians are hurting over the subversion of their mandate, the INEC Chairman, who ought to be apologizing is rather insulting their sensibilities with his provocative claims.

“Prof. Yakubu cannot claim that INEC under his watch is the most improved service institution when all indices show that it performed far below the bar in the 2019 elections.

“How can anyone in good conscience make such spurious claims when the massive irregularities that defaced the 2019 elections is responsible for the unprecedented 766 election petitions across the country as against 297 petitions filed in the 2015 elections?

“It is indeed an unpardonable affront on the sensibility of Nigerians for Prof. Yakubu to claim that this INEC that has become notorious for compromised voters register, missing ballot papers, alteration of results and inconclusive elections, is the most improved service institution in the country.

“Moreover, is it not completely preposterous for Prof. Yakubu to claim that INEC is the only agency which has offices in all LGAs and whose staff work exceptionally hard when there are many more agencies with offices in all the LGAs that engage in very tedious national assignments, even with far less allocation than INEC.

“What would the INEC Chairman say about an agency like the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which has offices in all the LGAs and yearly mobilizes thousands of corps members across the country yet without incidences of inconclusive mobilization or missing service materials?

The way your INEC treated its ad-hoc staff during the last elections and how you short-changed them lends credence to the fact that it is very corrupt body.

The foreign music videos are on youtube. My only difficulty is getting those 80's Nigerian music videos. I will let you know if i find any
Wow...you sure were in touch then., I do remember Kieran back then. Wow.. I remember Tony Okoroji, Bright Chiemeze, Jide Obi...and a host of others. Can you compare the quality of music of those years to now? NTA Enugu was just superb; of course, ATV, Anambra Television then, always showing you the latest from Hollywood. As soon as a movie is released in Hollywood then, you can be sure it will soon be on Nigerian T.V.

I remember Starsky and Hutch, Persuaders, The Avengers, The New Avengers and in the early 90's, Jake and the Fat man. The Nigerian T.V. stations in those days were far advanced and in touch with the latest in the Western world. The irony is that that generation didn't have social media or internet, but they were far advanced and in tune with the latest from the Entertainment world and Western countries.
