Honeric,

Thats the problem with Nigerians.

Do we really want our country to develop or we are just paying lip service?

I get this vibe all the time that Corruption can be excused as long as its done by our favourite people.

When Alams was arrested for corruption see as people rioted in Yenagoa. This was a man who stole money meant for you!!

What of OBJ. A man stole $16b for Power projects without them clearing the site of the project yet people are saying he gave us GSM. Why cant the same OBJ GSM proponent give Buhari credit for giving us Color TV? Shebi GEJ gave us facebook  cool

Now with the vibe coming from GEJ and all the crooks he sorrounded himself with we all know its same of the same, When you have Tony Anenih, OBJ etc supporting one particular man, Do you need a soothsayer to tell you that its corruption continued?

In GEJ's 1yr of rule has corruption reduced? What of bomb blasts, Violence and killing in the country has it reduced? The Oct 1 bombing what happened? Between December 24 and Jan 1 a week we had about 4 bombing in a country and all the president is concerned about is how to update his facebook profile.

No one here can level any form of corruption against Buharis candidature yet They are against him simply because "Hausa don rule us enough"

I seriously dey laugh ooo
Well you see, that;s the difference between an internet Nigerian and a real one.

If we say enough of Hausa what is wrong with that? Anyway, I am sure that and your fellow internet Nigerians will  vote for Buhari in Dallas, London, Copenhagen etc.

Jarus:
Thank you, Honeric.
Based on my experience on NL here and in real world, I will say, honestly, that things are pointing to impressive future, at least based on attitude. More and more people are getting aware of the need to do things right. More and more people are seeing the need to register and vote, more and more people are daring the leaders to do the right things, more and more people are having confidence in the system, even the leaders will think twice before dipping their hands into the till these days. There are more and more awareness. I, sincerely, see hope.
I honestly think so. But I must admit the situation is so bad already that it will not be easy to take note of the performance of even a performing government. Too many areas to fix. But if with the complexities of a state like Lagos, we still see visible development in a short time under a Fashola administration, then I believe a national performance can still be achieved.

I'm aware there are a few -in fact, many - saboteurs out there, but the reality is for leaders that have the will, saboteurs can be crushed. All we need is will. This is why I'm personally opting for Ribadu or Buhari. These are people that, to me, will not look at your face or might in the process of effecting change, as has been seen. Such disposition is needed at this point.
Don't take this the wrong way but what about KWARA state? If Baba Oloye says you should vote for GEJ, wont you and every other voter in Kwara?

Abagworo:
Some corrections.

1) Rivers State government under Amaechi are the ones building the new PHC and not FG.

2)It is not right to address anybody as semi-Ibo.

3)Amaechi is not involved in ethnic politics

I tend to concur with you on the need for more distinct cities in Rivers state.Omoku is a growing town that has enough land and already hosts a lot of multi-national firms.Bori is another prospective town that can be upgraded.I think in the next phase Bori or Omoku should be tackled.
As I said in my post "A NEW CITY" not another PHC. This is being funded by the FG.

It is located in another LG, a site in or near Ogoni Land was chosen.

Most definitely Amaechi is involved in ethnic politics. I am surprised that you can say something like that.

I dont make a habit of discussing with known Nairaland thugs but I will make an exception here. It is indeed the opinion of an individual but it is opinion based on facts and guided by it . Folarin had murder charges dropped against him only to then be flown immediately to Abuja to "deliver" for Jonathan. Now , lo and behold, the senatorial election Folarin lost is one of those cancelled and now rescheduled for a rerun even as INEC declares this desperate action from the PDP as illegal !!!!  When it comes down to it , most of what we all post are subjective opinions of others . We can nonetheless , as sensible adults , still deal with the facts commented upon in items submitted without pedantic , diversionary and childish antics aimed at deception such as highlighting one word alone in an attempt to discredit an article containing many statements of facts. Go and find out what the common denominator is for the states and senatorial districts affected by the PDP's cancellations. You dont have any personal integrity so I don't expect to ever have a truthful conversation with you in which you will not attempt to be mischievously deceptive.

PoliticsRe: Amaechis Port Harcourt! by johndoe200: 5:54am On Jan 25, 2011
Port Harcourt, is a mixed city, the original part of the city was not identified with any tribe. As the city grew it expanded to encompass Ikwere villages which were then incorporated into it. As the price of property rose more "cheap" Ikwere land was acquired to build houses.

So there are non indigenous Nigerians who actually live in Ikwere villages and think they live in Port Harcourt.

As to Ibo or not, these are ideas which others like to propagate, and argue about especially on NL.

These things are not what RIVERS STATE needs. What WE want is for there to be more than ONE city in the state.

If Amaechi really had the interest of the state at heart he would have tried to build A new town/city in each senatorial district. he could then place all these new buildings in them.

All he is doing is just helping his semi ibo brothers. Thank God the FG has understood the issue and is building a new city outside PH.

ACN accuses Kwara Govt of compromising voters’ registration
From FRANCIS AWOWOLE-BROWNE, Abuja
Tuesday, January 25, 2011

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has accused the Kwara State Government of compromising the ongoing voters’ registration exercise in the state by giving N50,000 in cash to each of the 1,872 polling centres in the state. In a statement issued in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Monday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to urgently investigate the reason behind the “donation,” which was announced on the radio but the purpose of which was not stated.

It said the need for INEC to investigate the inexplicable monetisation of the registration exercise in Kwara State became even more imperative because the commission had warned against any such unsolicited financial assistance for its officials nationwide, in view of its implications.
“We are also worried about this Greek Gift from the Kwara State Government against the backdrop of reports that some DDC machines are being used to register voters in certain unauthorised locations in the state,” ACN said, adding: “We know for sure that Nigerians are resolved to fully participate in the voters’ registration exercise without any financial inducement.”

The party said the donation by the government had raised many posers: “What is the money supposed to be used for? Who are the beneficiaries? Why would the state government give away over 100 million naira for an exercise that has been fully funded by the Federal Government through INEC? To what extent has this unsolicited cash donation compromised the exercise and are there other measures being taken by the state government to influence the exercise in favour of the ruling party in the state?”
“The immediate provision of answers to these posers, which are at the core of the investigation we are seeking, will help unravel the real motive of the state government in playing ‘Santa Claus’ in January. It will also allay the fears of many people in the state, who have expressed grave concern over the donation,” ACN said.

It warned that since voters’ registration was the bedrock of successful elections, the ongoing exercise must not only be free, fair and non-partisan, it must be seen to be so by all Nigerians, who were yearning for free, fair and credible polls in April.
Meanwhile, Kwara State Government has denied, in a statement, that the N50,000.00 cash donation to each registration point in the on-going voters’ registration exercise was an inducement but to cushion the hardships likely to be faced by the registrants.

“The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed, who was reported to have announced the State government’s donation, did so out of the magnanimity of the State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and his care for natives of the state.
“The donation should, therefore, not be interpreted to mean bribe to the registrants or INEC officials on duty but a way of supporting and assisting the ongoing registration process.

“Well-meaning individuals and philanthropic organisations nationwide have risen to the challenge of coming to the rescue of INEC to ensure a successful registration exercise, bearing in mind that the onus rests on every Nigerian to ensure the success of the exercise once and for all.
“The Kwara State Government would not in anyway interfere with the registration process just as politicians should refrain from politicising the exercise, rather we should all join hands to enhance credible voters’ registration and not translate the voters’ registration to political propaganda.”

The motive behind the gesture of the state government was to lessen the burden of its citizens, who in most cases often spend the whole day at the registration unit in an attempt to secure voter’s card arising from various challenges being encountered at the centre.
As responsive and responsible Nigerians, every eligible voter is entitled to a voter’s card to be able to exercise his/her civic right and this can only be done by obtaining a voters’ card. Therefore, nothing legal would be too much to ensure its success.

No reasonable person would read any negative meaning to the State government’s gesture as it was done purely with an open mind to enhance the registration process and lessen the burden of the people of the State.
The general public is hereby advised to disregard the misinformation being peddled around about the state government’s donation by those whose trade in stock is nothing but condemnation, as it was merely to enhance the registration process and lessen the burden of the registrants throughout the duration of the registration exercise irrespective of party affiliation.

Beaf,
Although you support GEJ, you do not have to resort blatant untruths against Buhari.

Buhari is the only ex- Head of State who does not live in opulence - that should be a clue that he did not embezzle any money!

He has 2 modest homes one of which he inherited from his father! and he drives a modest car.

Finally Buhari did not lead or instigate the coup that overthrew Shagari, he was appointed by his peers after the coup.

The reason for the overthrow of Shagari was because Shagari had looted Nigeria to its last Kobo and he had rigged his re-election in 1983.

Now are u now trying to imply that Shagari was an anti-corruption crusader? where is your source to say that Shagari had uncovered NNPCmissing funds.

You need to stop making up stories
You still don't seem to get it. There is no excuse for corruption. Buhari-bin-laden is corrupt, we don't want any more corrupt people. What is to stop him from engaging in more corrupt activities because he thinks it's justified?

Do you realize that he is the only aspirant that has a PROVABLE RECORD OF CORRUPTION?

You should be ashamed of yourself for supporting a corrupt, criminal, religious bigot.
