Sir was the beam at the foundation level introduced on all the walls, both the exterior and interior partition walls? Or it was only on the exterior walls? Thanks. |

The issue or criteria for inserting beams isn't the waterlogged land but the height of the foundation. When you are filing in a 6,7,8 coaches of foundation with soil for the DPC , there is a tendency for the wall load to push outwards. The whole stretch of wall can even fall down after a couple of years.
It's expensive, but it's better to be safe than to be sorry. I had a sloping land and wasn't going to take any risk with 7-9 coaches of foundation. My brother thanks for the lecture, I really do appreciate. |

bellong: You got it wrong. The essence of encouraging women to be in STEM courses is to disabuse their minds about its gender stereotype.
In every university, check percentage of ladies in Engineering and science compared to administration and social sciences.
There were only 5 girls in my department in the university, 2 in civil engineering for my set, mechanical had only one ati bebe lo.. I think we all should learn to appreciate others strength. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. If I may ask, why did u go for engineering? Why didn't u go for architecture? Or medicine? I'm pretty sure u choose that particular course probably because u have weighed your strengths and weaknesses, and u were convinced u would be able to sail through. Same should apply to others, everyone should have that inalienable latitude to choose his or her own future. I even see this whole idea as an avenue to demean other profession. Making one to feel bad about his choice of course on account of some lame ideas isn't too good. Often times we have seen cases whereby parents coerce their children to study courses against their wish, but I can always tell u the end result is always rueful. |

That is why we also see a number of ladies drop out of them after school.
Yes, a person in STEM night earn more than a non-STEM however, money alone does not determine the importance of a profession.
If a lady is not in an environment that discriminates against women in STEM courses, then she should be guided to choose a profession based on her strengths and personality. That why, the society can benefit maximally from them. U have said it all. The bold doesn't apply to women alone, but all humans... |

opalu: Thanks Sir. There has been a war between the two. And since it took a political dimension I decided not to put myself to support anybody the two but to use both for my projects.
Let me explain. We Dangote used political influence to import greatest portion of cement into the country yeats back, Dangote Cement was good. When the Dangote Obajana Cement was opened in Kogi to service Abuja and other northern states, we discovered that 'Dangote Lagos' that was imported was far better than 'Dangote Abjua'. I was heading the construction of 30 Luxury mansions in Wuye Abuja at the time and we tested dangote and Elephant (Lafarge). To our surprise Danote failed in all. So we used Elephant in all that project. So in order to correct the anomalies which I think they noticed from different feedbacks, the Dangote company upgraded their cement everywhere to a quick-setting-time Cement that is slightly better than Elephant product. This cost them real money. They then decided to use SON to force other cement companies to upgrade to it. Check this link: http://www.punchng.com/special-feature/dangote-lafarge-battle-for-cement-market-dominance/
So I use Dangote 42.5 grade and also use Elephant of any grade. I know dangote cement have different grade with different strength. But does it mean all elephant cement grade are the same? Don't they vary in terms of strength sir? |

LondonCool: That's cool. First of all get all your blocks ready that's required for that phase of work ( either bought or moulded on site). Afterwards, you can tell how much funds you have left to pay for setting out, excavation and block work.
Would you be putting in columns and pillars in your foundation ? ( that's if you are having a penthouse and/ or parapet). They take extra funds.
Also, if your foundation is going to be more than 4 coaches, you would need to introduce beams all round the foundation. That also takes extra funds. Is there really need to introduce beam all round the foundation if it's more than 5 coach on a dry land? Is your land waterlogged? That will gulp a lot of funds. |
