Career / Re: 14 Easy Ways To Stay Awake At Work by Jok3r(m): 9:23am On Jun 29, 2016
Cieno:
Unsure if you can make it to the end of the day without dozing at your desk? Sleepless nights can be tough, but trying to stay awake while working is even more harder. Whether you partied all night or stayed up with a newborn, or you lost sleep while finishing up a project, now you’re at work and you’re having a difficult time staying awake. You promise yourself that you’ll get more sleep, if you can just make it through the day without being discovered by your boss with your eyes closed. Falling asleep on the job can risk your employment, and may signal a larger problem with your sleep habits.

Here are very easy ways to keep your eyes open from 9-5.

1. Take a short walk
Get up, walk around the office or go out and get some sunshine. Bright light and a quick walk will get your blood pumping and energise you. The rest of your day will be a breeze.

2. Acquire a standing desk
Get a desk that can be raised and lowered, this affords you the opportunity to stand up while you’re working. Changing positions can keep you energized and alert.

3. Splash cold water on your face

There’s nothing as refreshing as cool water on your face. Splash some on to keep you alert. The reason your body responds the way it does to cold is that it’s prepping itself to work to keep you warm. Your body needs to regulate your internal temperature to keep all of its organs functioning. So if it detects ice or extreme cold, it will work to keep itself awake longer.

4. Chew ice

If you chew ice, it’s almost impossible to fall asleep. The chilling temperature keeps the brain on its toes, even while you are driving late at night, exhausted, and what you really want to do is fall asleep.
Chewing anything, even if it’s just your pen or pencil, causes your body to think you are about to eat. Your body will prepare for food intake by releasing insulin, which will make you more alert.

5. Exercise before work
Exercise in the office. Just because you’re sitting down doesn’t mean you can’t use your muscles. So exercise at your computer, or get up every once in a while and stimulate some blood flow to keep you alert.
Try simple exercises like jumping jacks, push-ups, crunches, and squats. Don’t push yourself like you do in the gym; instead, just exercise enough to get your blood flowing and keep your coworkers from noticing your strange behavior!
Stay on your feet as much as possible. If you’re sitting most of the time, get yourself up every 20-30 minutes.Whether you take a class or go for a run, studies show that exercise increases your overall energy throughout the day.

6. Listen to music
Listening to music activates certain parts of your brain that can keep you alert. Music triggers emotional responses in humans, helping us engage many parts of the brain.
Listen to music that’s energizing to you. If possible, dance or sing along, even if you just bob your head or hum. Music that’s irritating or jarring may keep you awake better than music that’s familiar. Just do your co-workers a favor and remember to use headphones!

7. Have a caffeine fix
Caffeine is only a temporary way to get you going, but it’s very effective. Try to stick to coffee and tea rather than energy drinks — extreme caffeine doses will cause you to crash and burn.

8. Consume less sugar[/b]
Eating sugar-laden foods will only keep you awake for a short while. Once that sugar rush wears off, you will feel more sleepy than ever. Stay off the sweet stuff and munch on healthy options like nuts instead.

9. Don’t Sit All Day
Sitting at the same desk all day becomes monotonous and too comfortable. Go to your office’s kitchen or common space and work there for a few hours. The new surroundings will awaken your senses and keep you awake.

10. Expose yourself to bright light
Preferably, natural daylight. Your body’s internal clock (its circadian rhythms) are regulated by your exposure to sunlight. This means you can trick your body into believing it should be awake even when it feels tired.

11.Step outside, even just for a bit.
If you can step outside (even on a cloudy day) or look out the window for a full minute, you’ll be more alert.

12. Take a power nap
If you have the time, sleeping for just 15-20 minutes can increase your alertness by leaps and bounds if you have a cup of coffee (or any other form of caffeine) right before you fall asleep. The caffeine will take about 20 minutes to begin working, so you shouldn’t have any trouble falling asleep right away, and you’ll wake up refreshed.

13. Call someone
Make a call to a friend or a cousin or anyone who makes you laugh or excites you. A light conversation will definitely refresh your mind and you will be ready to start working before you know. Take a stroll while talking on the phone. It will keep you active. People tend to converse more animatedly when they walk and talk.

14. Get more sleep at night – Duh

Those who brought up this news are mischievous, we know their aim. For the record, the school has been there for years and has always been used to train Naval personnel but it is only in the process of being converted to uni as the Naval Chief has said. It is not a Civil Institution;not meant for you and i except you are in the Nigerian Navy. Even if admissions are later open to civilian, you can’t use their certificate to work in Merchant Ships except you want to work with the Navy as one of their civilian staff with low pay. Merchant Ships and Naval Ships are diferent in design, configuration, etc.

It’s same with Air Force that is why we have two distinct Aviation Institutions in Kaduna, one for Air Force personnel and one for civilian.

I studied Marine Engineering at some point some years back and i have a full understanding of this

Politics / Re: I Remain Resolute, Unintimidated, Says Fayose by Jok3r(m): 9:01am On Jun 29, 2016
tibaonnet:
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has said that he 'remain resolute in making his opinions known on national issues and will not be intimidated.”

Fayose made this known yesterday in an angry reaction to the arrest of some men, who allegedly aided and abetted the governor in laundering part of the cash taken from the office of the former National Security Officer.

The men were said to have been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday in Lagos.

One of them, whose name was given as Abiodun Agbele, was reportedly picked up at a location in Lagos while trying to doctor vital documents relating to some property he had bought for the embattled governor.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest but did not give further details.

“It is true that we arrested some men who were fronting for governor. They are in our Lagos Office. That is all I can say for now,” Uwujaren said last night.

But it was learnt that some officials of a bank, which the governor said had helped him with funds to run his election, were also picked up and moved to Abuja by the operatives of the commission.

Agbele, according to EFCC sources had been on the watchlist of the commission in the past week following discovery he was the arrowhead in the receipt and laundering of huge sums of money from a former Defence Minister, Musiliu Obanikor, who has since denied doling out any money to the Ekiti governor.

But the arrest of Agbele and others has not gone down well with Governor Fayose, who reacted angrily to the development last night.
In a statement by his spokesman, Lere Olayinka, the governor chided EFCC for arresting his aides without first inviting them for questioning.

“Our attention has been drawn to the arrest of Mr Abiodun Agbele by the EFCC and we wish to say that we encourage the EFCC to carry out its investigations without politics as it is being done now.

“It must be pointed out that at no time was Mr Abiodun Agbele invited by the EFCC, and if he had been invited, he would have honoured the invitation. Therefore, there is nothing to celebrate in his arrest if it is not political.

“As already pointed out, Governor Ayodele Fayose does not have anything to do with any fund from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

“Also, the person said to have been arrested is an adult and will defend himself when the time comes. Subjecting him to media trial as EFCC has been doing since the inception of this government will only give our adversaries momentary sense of joy.

“We await reports of EFCC investigations and we hope that the anti-corruption agency will be civil enough to allow an open and transparent trial in competent court of law and not media trial just to get at Governor Fayose because of his uncompromising stance against the misrule of the APC/Buhari led federal government.

“Finally, like we have maintained, Governor Fayose will remain resolute in making his opinions known on national issues and will not be intimidated.”

Science/Technology / Re: 6 States At The Risk Of Earthquake – Researchers Raise Alarm by Jok3r(m): 4:31pm On Jun 28, 2016
Raph01:
The Nigerian Association of Water-Well Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP) has called on the Federal Government to take measures that could reduce the effects of earthquake as 6 states with land-ocean boundaries exist at the risk of possible earthquake.

AWDROP, at a press conference addressed by its National President, Mr. Michael Ale, lamented that lack of Underground Water Abstraction Regulation in Nigeria could easily induce earthquake and sea water intrusion, “hence the need for government to ensure strict compliance in the implementation of code of practice in borehole drilling” in the country.

Ale said his Association had been informed of the salt water intrusion affecting underground water usage and subsidence along the land-ocean boundaries in shoreline areas. The areas are:

1. Lagos

2. Port-Harcourt

3. Warri

4. Bayelsa

5. Cross River State

Meanwhile, researchers from the Department of Geology, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, led by Dr Adepelumi Adekunle Abraham, had submitted in its report titled ‘Preliminary Assessment of Earth Tremor Occurrence in Shaki Area, Shaki West Local Government, Oyo State, indicating an impending ‘damaging earthquake’ in the next four years.

Idowu hung out with friends on Thursday night and heard that they had planned to go swimming in a lake 40 miles northeast of Columbus on Friday. That was the last his friend Jensen, a fellow Ohio State University player, heard of him.

The following day, a Saturday, Jensen, while picking up another friend, got a call that Idowu died the night before; he drowned while swimming with friends.

“I knew a few people had been invited,” Jensen, told the press. “I just figured I’d stay home. I had to lift, I had to practice. We kind of hung up the phone, and we kind of just looked at each other wondering if it was real.”

“I didn’t believe it at first,” another teammate Tyler Kidwell said. “He was one of my best friends on the team.”

According to reports:

“Idowu was a defender on the Buckeyes team who had played since 2014. He was a junior enrolled in a premed program. Friends said he wanted to be a surgeon.

Idowu was from Madison, Mississippi, and was majoring in health and rehabilitation sciences while planning to attend medical school. He was an Ohio State Prominence Scholar and a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.”

His teammates have since been mourning him, but the Knox County sheriff’s office has refused to release details of the 19-year-old’s death.

“As I understand it, they just went up for the end of the day after classes,” John Bluem, his coach, told Columbus Dispatch. “They just went up to go for a swim.”

Idowu was born to Nigerian parents who are currently based in the United States.

Crime / Re: Baby Boys Burnt To Death In Anambra While Their Mum Was At A Beer Parlour by Jok3r(m): 4:06pm On Jun 26, 2016
AdoraAmadi:
I just received these graphic photos from a Lailan who witnessed the shocking incident last night.

2 baby boys aged 6months old and less than three years old were burnt to death while their mother was chilling out at a beer parlour in Uga, Anambra state last night.

This woman had locked her kids in the home with a lantern and gone off to enjoy her night but while she was away, the lantern caused a fire outbreak. Very disturbing pics of the burnt babies and their now weeping mother below.

My reader had visited her village ysterday, when late in the night, she heard a chilling voice of someone screaming. She called her neighbour and asked if she too heard the cry but neighbour said she didn't. Only for later in the night, her neighbour called her panicking saying they need to hurry to another woman's house. That there has been a fire incident and kids were suspected trapped in the house.

They rushed off to the scene and this was the gory sight they met. The 6 month old baby was burnt black and beyond recognition while his elder brother was equally dead.

It turned out that the someone screaming late that night was these kids' eldest 3 year old brother. He had managed to escape from the burning house and was now screaming and crying for their mummy as he ran in the darkness looking for help for his younger ones.

While he was running out, his younger brother pictured above not burnt was trying to run but was coughing (due to smoke). He sustained injuries and was finally choked to death by smoke but the baby burnt beyond recognition.

My reader says:

Laila, this woman had 6 children, only that one (the boy that escaped the fire) is alive now and all died from one carelessness to the other. She's from Umuchu but married to Uga in Anambra state .

They said sometimes she will leave them there to cry and cry and cry in a locked room and will be messing around the Village .
This a lesson to all young mothers , every child has the right to live and be cared for ! They didn't beg anyone to bring them into this life . This is a lifetime haunting experience , the psychological trauma and pain will remain endless.

I don't really have much to say but she has been warned severally to stop staying at that beer palour but she will end up quarrelling with her advisers . Many village women that visited there confirmed it and narrated how they advised her in the past.

About 3 people said they saw her dancing around 10pm at the joint and unfortunately that was when her kids were roasting to death.

Celebrities / Re: Bibi Bright At Golden Movie Awards, Exposes Bare Butts (Photos) by Jok3r(m): 4:00pm On Jun 26, 2016
NEHLIVE:
About three days ago, this Ghana actress Bibi Bright, released her new promo photos which were as good as being naked. Now, she has reawaken her fashion madness with her outfit to the 2016 Golden Movie Awards. The actress appeared in a sheer outfit, which looks like she’s wearing nothing beneath. Looks like she decided not to wear any underwear, drawing major attention with all eyes focused on her. She was later spotted kind of covering her ‘major frontal beneath thing’, but the purpose of this outfit looks to have been fulfilled as she got all the attention to last her for days! She’s very daring!
