Aliko Dangote, president of of Dangote Group, says if the federal government offers to sell the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) to him on credit, he is not interested.

Reacting to the criticisms that have trailed his advocacy for the sale of national assets, Dangote told THISDAY that his proposal was borne out of the desire to see Nigeria get out of the current economic recession.

In an interview with CNBC Africa, the billionaire had said the government would be able to raise between $12 billion and $15 billion from the sale of the company.

“If I had challenges in my company, I would not hesitate to sell assets, to remain afloat, to get to the better times, because it doesn’t make any sense for me to keep any assets and then suffocate the whole organisation,” he had said.

“The African finance corporation; it can fetch them $800million easily. My own suggestion before was that they should even sell 100 percent of NLNG. I don’t think government should be in any business of investing in sectors of LNG.

“A company like that, with earnings of $1.5 billion on the average, they should get anywhere between $12 billion and $15 billion.”

The comment had generated reactions, with some saying the billionaire was interested in buying the company.

But Dangote waved aside the criticisms, saying he offered the suggestions as “a true Nigerian who really wants the issues about the economy to be sorted out”.

“You know the issue, once your reserves are low, the banks, entrepreneurs, including external forces, would definitely attack your currency. They would speculate on your currency,” he said.

“We all know that the exchange rate of almost N500 to the dollar is not a true reflection of the value of the currency – the naira cannot be almost N500 to the dollar!

“But you see, if this thing is not handled properly, it can get out of hand. It can get to N600 to the dollar, or even N700 to the dollar.

“But the issue is, why did I suggest that we should sell some of the assets? I know the touchy one is the NLNG. I want to make it categorically clear that even if the government is selling NLNG on credit, I am not interested in buying.

“I don’t have any interest in NLNG and I will not buy it. It is not a business that I want to invest in. It is a mature business; that is what people don’t understand.

“You see, we should have invested heavily in all these Brass LNG, Olokola LNG, etc, when former President Olusegun Obasanjo started work on the projects, but we missed the opportunity.

“Today, you have massive LNG projects that have been done by Qatar, Australia and the United States is also exporting. But right now, all the gas that we have is even in the ground. Even Mozambique has a massive amount of gas and also Tanzania, and they are nearer to the markets than we are.

“So, if somebody is even going to invest in LNG, he would go to those areas and invest there and not here in Nigeria, because the investment here is daunting. So my own suggestion is that even if we must sell, it doesn’t have to be 100 per cent of our interest in NLNG.”

Hello,i got a broadcast about a job vacancy at Bahama oil and gas ltd situated in Badagary,Lagos. I did sent a CV to the e-mail address attached underneath. Few hours later i got a reply from someone that claimed to be the HR Manager. The bottom-line is that he forwarded me an account number to pay in #6,500 as the training fee before the main interview. I'm really shocked and in a bid to get more details created this thread to have people's opinion before i decide what next to do.

Hello All,
I have to create this account for anonymous purpose because some of my colleagues are on NL. Here is my situation:

I just got a permanent job in Lagos with N4.8m/annum ( i had to relocate from where i was working before i resigned), i have been working in this environment for a little more than a month, i enjoy the environment, the people are friendly and willing to share knowledge and information, my 2 major issue with this office is their exit policy which got me scared and thinking of leaving before long.

I got another offer in another location where my family is based (iam married) for N6m/ per annum (net) through one of my former boss, he is putting pressure on me to accept the offer (he likes me alot while i was working with him), my issue with this job it, its a CONTRACT job (2 years and renewable) with a government parastatal, though he said they are most likely going to convert to permanent before the end of the 2 years.

Though i have not done contract job before, im kind of confused about it, and then the security of the job, etc. But the money/offer is tempting.
I just want your advise based on people with experience with contract jobs.

The Lagos state command is currently investigating the general overseer of 'Tongue of Fire Restoration Ministry' - Chukwuma Nkwocha for a case of abduction, defilement and abortion.

On 30/6/2016, the command received a report that the suspect, a pastor with a church situated on Jacob Taiwo Street Oshodi was harbouring some young girls and freely having unlawful canal knowledge of them.

Upon receipt of the information, the X-squad unit of the command mobilised to the apartment and subsequently rescued 13 girls whose age ranges from 13 to 18years, consequently the pastor was arrested.

Further investigation revealed that the pastor who was in the habit of having sexual intercourse with the girls at will had also procured abortion for some of them.

I have seen many threads on nairaland concerning self servicing and each time i read these threads i just shake my head in disbelief and i just marvel at the level of hypocrisy many people bring into the subject matter but today i want to present my candid take on self servicing using the very words of GOD as guide.

1.Is self servicing a sin?: I have hoped that one day, someone will really quote a bible passage that condemns self servicing but so far what we have seen are human philosophies and personal conviction about the matter.I don't know what the Quran says about it but The truth is that the Bible is totally silent about this matter.Many scholars have sited the story of onan(Genesis 38) who spilled his fluid on the ground but a deep understanding of that story shows that GOD punished him for disobedience rather than the act.

Until we find a good scripture to point to self servicing as a sin i will urge people to stop using human ideology to deceive people about the subject matter."Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ."Colossians 2:8

2.When does self servicing becomes a sin:I always asked; when you masturbate how do you do it?what goes through your mind? I really don’t think a single man or woman will be thinking about a football game or a tractor when self servicing but probably about sex and i don't understand why it becomes a sin for a human who GOD created with sexual urge to think about sex.

But when you watch porn or indulge in pornographic induced self servicing then you have actually committed fornication and i will back this up with the scriptures..."But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart"Matthew 5:28
This means when you self service while "looking" at pornographic materials,it is only natural to lust after the men or women in the film or magazines and that makes it outright Adultery/fornication making it 100% sin and in-fact looking at the opposite sex lustfully even without masturbating is a sin.

3.When does self servicing becomes sinless?:Now understand this fact,Sexual urge is natural,healthy and God created it in us. You can not pray and fast about not having a sexual urge because its as natural as wanting to defecate or urinate.

[b]GOD never intended for a full grown man or woman to be single but today, many factors are responsible for many unmarried adults which brings on them the pressure of sexual urge. If you are sexually active and you have the self control to stay without fornicating,watching pornography or self servicing i say GOD bless you but if you have a very strong libido i will advice you find a way to ease off without fornicating or watching pornography. As i wrote, it is perfectly normal to have sexual urge and it makes sense to ease off rather than burn with passion.

Conclusively,i would say self servicing should be stopped by those who see it as a sin regardless and just like every other habit that can become very addictive,people who indulge in it should know the limits.

However, the first step to stopping self servicing is to get married and if you still find yourself indulging in it with your wife or husband around then it becomes a matter of interest for you to address if it affects your sexual relationship with your wife.[/b]
