Were people not surviving injuries before medical science era came into being? First of all, I will pray. You see prayer is communication with God, we have a God who listens and who responds by proferring solutions and giving ideas. I believe from my personal experience as well as the word of God that He will tell me what to do afterwards.

Note, that the above suggestion depends on a person's level of faith. For new Christians, I suggest you pray and seek help if you haven't started hearing from God
you would pray huh

Lol.. You know their style na, they'll ignore the verse because "it's the old testament", and they themselves believe their god is unchangeable grin

If the Abrahamic God was unchangeable then you can actually consider something like absolute morality or divine command theory being the benchmark for humanity
But that was not the case!

God2man:
It depends on the way you look at some things in the bible. If you read the bible with a critical mind you may find it very difficult to gain anything, the other way round if you read it with an investigative mind, that is an objective mind, you may discover that the bible is full of hidden treasure that only the spiritual mind can really understand what is hidden therein. The way of the cross is foolishness to the carnal man but to the spiritual mind it is life.

For example, the bible is the sword of the spirit. How? It does not make sense for a book to become a sword.
There was case of a demonic idol that appeared to attack a woman, the woman started qouting scripture against the demon, the demon fled just because of the spoken bible verses.
So, how do you correlate this? It does not make sense but it is working.
why is it foolishness to a " carnal" mind
Why can't he make it as clear as possible so we can all be in agreement undecided
What's the deal with this playing hard to get

Do rapists agree? Certainly not. If I decide today that rape is good, all the rapists in the whole world agree with me. We are humans too. We would declare too that rape is good.

You now see how foolish your answer is?
but even if there was actually a divine command theory fo the rapists still agree rape is wrong
No
rape is wrong because it denies the most basic rights of the individual. It takes the freedom of action and choice away from the vi as simple as that. The rapists might not feel that way but it's the fact but it disrupts privacy just as murder violates an individuals basic right to be alive
I feel this is as absolute one can get
But if we want to go with the christian belief
Pre marital sex is wrong even within two consenting adults
So what exactly males it wrong without using biblical backup

How does harming someone matter to an atheist?
huh
I know there are serial killers and all but an unbeliever like myself who does not believe in the idea of an afterlife feels that this life is all I get. So if I harm someone or murder them I feel like I'm taking away thier only shot of life. And then I might waste my life in jail
It's quite simple actually

Christianity Etc › Re: Exposing The Inconsistencies In Atheism by jonbellion(m): 3:01pm On Jan 11, 2017
DoctorAlien:
Who declared rape absolutely bad?
lol
Certainly wasn't the Abrahamic God if that's what you're getting at
In the Book of Joshua. The Abrahamic God commands the Israelites to go into the land of Canaan, which he has decreed belongs to them, and kill everyone in the thirty-one kingdoms therein, including women, children, and livestock. Ironically this was after the ten commandments was passed down violating the sixth and eight commandment a supposedly "absolute" moral code
The Abrahamic Gods absolute morality" is not as absolute as it is sometimes portrayed it simply makes such matters dependent on the whims of God
It's arbitrary
If the Abrahamic God were bound by the laws he would have quite a lot to answer for
Also rahaab the Canaanite harlot was given off to one of Joshua's sons for her assistance in the fall of Jericho despite this being explicitly forbidden in Deuteronomy. At least you can't say "he's God he does whatever he wants" in this instance. That would be intellectually dishonest. Then again that is what is displayed here time and again so I wont be surprised
Pure empathy alone would make something like rape a highly untenable proposition
If the Abrahamic God declared something like rape or murder wrong then morality is definitely arbitrary from his history If he did not then he is not a requisite for morality. If the Abrahamic God exists those things are not wrong since apparently everything that happens happens according to Gods plan throwing away the problem of evil. Jainism was way ahead of your religion in terms of morality bro. There are a lot of substitutes for divine command theory
Basically anyone that lives a godless life (athiests, agnostics like myself, Diests-well technically) obviously do not get thier morals from religion so they don't require god to be moral or any absolute law

Afterall they are all still going to hell anyway

dalaman:
How can you say rape is absolutely wrong when your God who you claim is the source of morality doesn't see it as wrong? He rewards rapist with their victims.
I think the best way to put that statement for the followers of the divine command theory is that the Abrahamic God seemed to portray a very arbituary form of morality
A good example was that the Abrahamic God after giving Moses the 10 commandments saw the isrealites worshipping a golden calf. He wanted to destroy them all(genocide) but was talked out of it by Moses ironically after giving the commandment thou shalt not kill
That was a very arbitrary use of morality and Moses made him change his mind. Now if they are proposing thy idea of absolute morality then why did morality change so drastically in the new testament
If something is wrong only because God says so then is it really wrong. This actually validates the statement above
Why do these people always want to eat their cake and have it huh
Is this a joke huh

Ask your God. He was busy rewarding men that raped women by teling them to marry their victims. He was busy sharing virgins as war booty. Does your God who you claim is the source or morality see rape as absolutely wrong? No he doesn't.

If morality was absolute, there would be no controversy as to right or wrong. Morality goes beyond murder and rape, it includes things like pre-marital sex, drinking of alcohol, wearing of mini skirts, smoking... The controversy as regards morality far outweighs the consensus about morality.
if morality was absolute things that were a sin in the old testament would have remained sins in the new testament

hahn said he has an idea for something like this.....

On a sidebar, Jack, if you want quick fame, you can easily just open a blog and say :

21 yr old ATHIEST turns Christian after 29 years professing atheism (if we can have an 80 year old young lady; this should be too hard undecided) . "God slapped me"; he claims.

Then you can write a book with an apt title like. "From knowing to believing" or "That Rationality of religion".
Of course, these books can be a newer version of the same old flawed arguments put forward by apologists to defend their faith. E no concern you.
Just spice it up with anecdotes. You know how humans love anecdotes!!
Create a Youtube page and come back on NL as a firebrand christian.
Persuade Nairaland atheists to help your ministry....and if they agree; they drop their reason and claim religion saved them.

By that time, you'll be famous and well known.

Your blogs will be getting a million views and your name will be used up an dan in debates.

Drop some juicy quotes too...

"When a man stop reasoning...only then he begins to see the truth for what it is"

"I used to believe in evolution. But one day I asked myself : How is it that my hands are the right length, shape and width; to scratch my ballshuh It was then I realized : Nature cannot give me such a perfect tools to scratch my balls from randomness. Something must have given me a perfect scrotum toucher. Something......or someonehuh

and other quotes like that.
They'll love it!!

If you want to go a step further, you can publish more books like "The Divine slap : 21 ways to make God hit your face with success" and other "inspiriationals".

They'll love it cheesy cheesy

P.S : I hope no one will use this thread to say Atheists need churches because they still believe God. I sincerely hope not
