Aggrieved elders, women and youths staged a protest against the discrimination, unemployment, underdevelopment, non-commencement of EPZ, federal government hoodwinked to shortchange Itsekiri in NDDC.They also lay siege on Chevron tank farm in Ugborodo town.

The protesters from Ugborodo, an Itsekiri community in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State laid siege to the Escravos Tank Farm, belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, alleging neglect and discrimination by the multinational oil conglomerate.

The angry villagers,who set bonfires occupied the company’s premises since Tuesday.Reports from the area said that the villagers cordoned the gate preventing access in and out of the company through the gate.While the villagers were protesting outside,some of affected workers complained inside.However, the company airlifted some workers out with helicopters, while tension has enveloped the area.Security agencies were making efforts to calm the irate villagers, who refused to leave the company until their demands are looked into, accusing the firm of playing hide and seek with them.

On Augut 8, 2016, an Okada (motorbike) thief was burnt alive by a mob in Bamenda, Cameroon. Below is what a social media user who shared the photos wrote.....
"An armed robber shot a motorbike man with the intention of carting away with his bike but unfortunately for him he met his waterloo as the bike man clinged unto him until the irate population stormed the scene and burnt the armed robber alive before ferrying the Bikeman to the hospital."
The deceased who was burnt beyond recognition had no ID on him. The owner of the motorbike is reportedly in stable condition at the hospital.

The highly anticipated South West derby between Lagos side, Ikorodu United and Shootings Stars FC of Ibadan over the weekend was suspended by the match officials owing to crowd trouble. The match was played at Onikan Stadium, Lagos.

The home side, Ikorodu United had earlier taken the lead through Chinedu Onyelonu which drew a loud ovation from the fans. The team took control of the tie after opening scoring pushing the visitors close to the final third.

Events in the highly entertaining derby took another turn in the 90th minute of the tie after the visitors drew level following a fine header from pint sized forward, Ajani Ibrahim.

Trouble ensued from the stands with the home fans attacking fans of Shooting Stars on the stands while the security officers work tirelessly to ensure nomalcy is restored. The tie was however suspended due to the inability of the security officers to prevent crowd trouble at the stadium.

While the League Management Company, the body saddled with the affairs of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, are yet to release an official statement following events from the match, Trezzy Blog cannot immediately verify if the tie continued with the two sides playing the additional time left before the crowd trouble.

Southern Nigeria PDP zones National Chairmanship to South West


The Southern Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday night formally zoned the National Chairmanship position of the party to the South West geo-political zone.

In a meeting attended by Governors, National Assembly Members and Former Ministers, the Southern Nigeria PDP also zoned the positions of National Treasurer and Deputy National Publicity Secretary to the South West.The party zoned the position of First Deputy National Chairman to the South-South. The South-South also got the positions of National Legal Adviser, Deputy National Women Leader and Deputy National Auditor.

The South-East got the following positions: National Organising Secretary, National Youth Leader and Deputy National Financial Secretary.

Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu said despite the zoning of the positions, any party member willing to contest any position is free to do.

He, however, advised party members from the Southern Nigeria to respect the zoning formula.
