As already pointed out, Governor Ayodele Fayose does not have anything to do with any fund from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). He has stated how his election was funded and Zenith Bank that he said funded his election has not denied doing so.

We await reports of EFCC investigations and we hope that the anti-corruption agency will be civil enough to allow an open and transparent trial in competent court of law and not media trial just to get at Governor Fayose because of his uncompromising stance against the misrule of the APC/Buhari led federal government.
Whatever stories being circulated by the EFCC and its political allies can at best be regarded as rumour nothing but Rumour We Say. It must be bring to your notice that Governor Fayose will remain resolute in making his opinions known on national issues and will not be intimidated.

'An auto accident along Ikom/Calabar highway yesterday claimed the life of a female student while two of her siblings were rushed to the hospital after sustaining life threatening injuries. The accident occurred close to Obioko Ijiman in Ugep, Yakurr LGA.

The Honda Accord car with plate number AWK 638 AE was driven by one Mr. Etowa, a mechanic apprentice who was testing the car after effecting some repair work on the vehicle.

Etowa veered off his lane unto the opposite lane and first crushed two chickens before he lost control and rammed into a group of students who were returning from school at about 3.12pm.

The three students where later confirmed to be children of one Mr. Okoi in Ijiman Ugep. Some Police men later came to the scene of the accident, packed the body of the female student who had been badly crushed by the vehicle, in a bag and took her to her family compound where she was promptly buried by family members.

The other two siblings who were also critical injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care while a crowd of sympathizers was seen crying and praying to God to spare the lives of the injured.


Mr. Etowa, the mechanic apprentice who drove the car was said to have eloped immediately the accident happened but the vehicle was vandalized by the angry crowd'.

Secondus charges Buhari, to reduce battle fronts and tackle problems.

The immediate past Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Prince Uche Secondus has charged All Progressives Congress APC federal Government led by President Muhammedu Buhari to stop causing more problems for the country and set out to tackle the myriads it already created.

Prince Secondus noted that rather than strive to address the major socio economic issues weighing down Nigerians due to the confusion and lack of direction of the government in the last one year, the APC is rather busy creating more battle fronts and compounding the challenges of the county.

"Today under APC leadership the country has become a whole theatre of acrimony with agitations here and there with no clear sign of solution in sight forcing political watchers to question if the country is disintegrating.

"Even the Boko haram issue that was supposed to be progressing well has run into troubled waters because of the confusion in the ruling party.

"Ditto the federal Government's anti corruption fight is even skewed due to insincerity as Ministers already confirmed to be corrupt internationally continue to move untouched while Governors with immunity are harassed daily.

"Rather than confront the various challenges overwhelming the country, APC is currently bleeding soaked in its own greed and the obvious consequence is that a house divided against itself is bound to fall and the party is already falling.

The former PDP boss said that the federal Government under Buhari's watch is gradually eroding all indices of democratic principles especially those anchored on the rule of law and seperation of power as it has continued to violate all rules of free speech as enshrined in our status.

Unlike what the world is watching in Britain where democracy is being put into action and in America where President Barak Obama is being routinely criticized, Nigerians are leaving in fear, the press, judiciary, and politicians are in heavy apprehension because of the draconian system of our operatives who come after them for airing their views.

He advised the Government to respect various organs of governance and stop seeing himself as the Lord Mayor of state Governors and the National Assembly as this will amount to dictatorship.
The on going attempt to humiliate and intimidate the National Assembly Secondus is dangerous as the parliament remains the opium of democracy.

According to Secondus, while federal Government creates more and more problems it leaves unattended to very critical projects, for example, after the hype created by his government on cleaning up Ogoniland, nothing is happening in the project while Governor Neysom Wike massive opening up of Ogoni roads neglected over the years is evident.

The PDP Chieftain said that APC should note that after one year in office deceit by propaganda and lies can no longer be sustained as Nigerians now know better that inside the noisy drum is nothing but confusion and lack of direction.

Secondus finally warns the APC disorganized team to gauge the pulse of their various actions and inactions and stop moving the ship of state dangerously to avoidable turmoil as Nigerians are still waiting for all the wonders they promised.

AKINTUNDE AKINSEHINWA, Nigeria’s 1st ADC to Late Gen. Murtala Mohammed was killed while defending the General


DEATH AND THE ASSASSINATION OF
MURTALA MUHAMMED


On a dark Friday, 13th of February of 1976, Akinsehinwa was with his boss when their motorcade was attacked by coup plotters.They were in a simple, black Mercedes Benz which had no bulletproof exterior. The head of state was killed in a shower of bullets immediately. Same with the driver of the car,Sergeant Adamu Michika and the Orderly Staff Sergeant Michael Otuwe was seriously injured
but later recovered. Akinsehinwa survived the first bullets, struggled and came out of the Benz limousine and returned fire at the attackers. But, he was overwhelmed and cut down in a fiery hail of gunshots. A postmortem examination showed six bullet wounds in his back. He was the very first ADC to die in duty while protecting a Nigerian head of state and the first of its kind in the world. He was 31.

Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce has brought his broadcasting companies back on air after brief break in transmission following a bold attempt by Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) to seize his properties over N11 billion debt. Rhythm FM and Silverbird Television have resumed operation.



The electronic media platforms owned by the family of Murray Bruce went off air on Thursday after officials of AMCON sealed off the company’s buildings in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt.


On Friday, the management of Silverbird communications issued a statement announcing that its radio and TV stations had resumed operation.


"The management of Silverbird Communications Ltd, owners of Rhythm Fm and Silverbird TV sincerely apologise to its numerous viewers, listeners and online subscribers over the disruption of our operations across television, radio and online media,” the statement read.


"This was due to a situation beyond our control. However, we are pleased to inform you that we are back on air on radio, television and on our online platform. We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. We remain committed to the provision of quality infotainment and premium service across our platforms."

Freezing of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s personal Bank Account: President Buhari on a revenge mission

The Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been observing with dismay, the dangerous trend of politically motivated trials and tyrannical administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) demanding that the ruling Party must stop the witch-hunt in the interest of peace and stability of our Nation.

The Party in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 described the freezing of the personal account of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State as unlawful, undemocratic, autocratic, oppressive, draconian and to say the least, the height of desperation by the Buhari administration to cover up for its failure to deliver on his campaign promises to Nigerians.

Prince Dayo Adeyeye, a member of the PDP National Caretaker Committee who spoke to the media on behalf of the Party says the events in the Country in recent times has shown that President Buhari and the APC has no agenda for nation building but on a revenge mission. “This government is all out to silence any voice of the opposition”, he decried. Nigerians will recall that Chief Olisa Metuh, the former National Publicity Secretary of our great Party is today standing trial for receiving campaign funds and since his arrest and prosecution by the anti-graft agency, Chief Metuh could not challenge the APC government on policy issues until he left office.

Nigerians will also recall that one of the known opposition voice apart from some individuals and governors of our Party that has exposed the APC led administration for running the Country aground in the last one year is the former spokesman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, Chief Femi Fani Kayode; and he is now standing trial for receiving campaign funds from the Director of Finance of the Campaign. It’s now the turn of the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose who has been consistent in condemning the woes the APC government brought upon Nigerians and for remaining critical of the APC and President Buhari’s administration.

The Party condemned the freezing of Governor Fayose’s personal account and asked the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to free the bank account immediately saying that the action violates Section 308 of 1999 Constitution as a sitting Governor cannot stand trial until after office.

“President Buhari and his Party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has introduced a dangerous trend in our polity and if this is not checked or curtailed immediately, Nigeria may be heading to an imperial-rule where the leader of the nation is a supreme ruler dictating who survives at the expense of Nigeria Constitution”.

The Party called on all well-meaning Nigerians and all stakeholders in the Nigerian project who are still alive to rise up to the occasion and call the APC government to order before President Buhari destroys our hard earned democracy.

"The importance of this bridge project to Nigerians and Ndi Igbo in particular cannot be over-emphasized" - Gov Obiano



There are very strong indications that construction work will soon recommence on the Second Niger Bridge. This was one of the fallouts from an inspection tour of the Bridge and Major Federal Roads made by the Ministry of Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola.
The Second Niger Bridge project which is being executed under a Public Private Partnership Arrangement, consists of 10kilometre Road and 1.5kilometre bridge. The Minister upon arrival, was received by Governor Willie Obiano during a brief townhall meeting held at the Julius Berger Dockyard, attended by key stakeholders in the project.

Speaking during the meeting, the Minister, Mr Fashola explained that aside providing the opportunity to inspect the progress of work on the project, the visit was also to meet with Stakeholder-Landowners on the State's end to get their assurances towards eliminating any form of hostilities that can impede the progress of the project. Describing the Project as one of the largest infrastructural development projects of the Federal Government with huge potentials for economic prosperity for people of the SouthEast and Nigeria in general especially in the area of Commerce and Transport, Mr Fashola restated the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration towards the timely completion of the project.

Welcoming the Minister, Governor Obiano said the bridge project holds greater prospects for the realization of the State's vision to become a hub for commercial activities in the Country and commended the Federal Government for its renewed efforts at accelerating the pace of work on the project. The Governor called for the Federal Government's immediate intervention on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway especially the Umunya Axis to save commuters from the untold hardship they face daily.

He thanked the Minister for his intervention in assisting the state get back the #43.8billion it is owed by the Federal Government on road works, adding that repay of the funds will avail his government the resources to continue to intervene on the deplorable condition of some Federal Roads in the State. Earlier, the Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe who spoke on behalf of the Communities who donated their lands as assets for the project, stressed the need for the payment of the due compensation for the lands, which he regretted has not been done uptil now, assuring that they remain the strongest advocates of the project because of the benefits to their communities.

The Minister later visited the site for the bridge from the Odekpe axis, after which the Governor took him to the Umunya axis of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway for first hand information on the deplorable state of the road.

According to a Facebook user Ibironke Tolulope,there was an unrest in their school yesterday evening when police chasing an okada man killed a RUFUS GIWA Poly student. 

This prompted the students to blocking road leading to the town and school front gate.The students this morning went to police station unarmed but police shot many of them.

Selective and Secret Recruitments by APC/Buhari Government to favour only some APC leaders and stalwarts

Amidst complaints of massive unemployment in Nigeria, more indications have emerged that some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government have been engaging in secret recruitment of personnel to fill the available vacancies in their organisations.

A couple of months ago, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was alleged to have recruited about 909 personnel without adherence to the laid down rules on hiring new employees.

Majority of the beneficiaries were said to be children and relatives of top functionaries of the Federal Government and chieftains of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although the apex bank did not deny the report, officials of the bank said there was nothing wrong with what they described as “targeted recruitment.”

Investigations, however, revealed that similar “selective or targeted” hiring of personnel into the public service have continued to take place behind closed doors.

It was learnt that agencies such as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have also indulged in secret recruitments.

In some of these agencies, it was learnt, hundreds of employees have been recruited since the inception of the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in May 2015.

Investigations have also revealed that many of those recruited were essentially handpicked from lists sent to these agencies by some influential politicians in APC.

In PTDF, for instance, about 200 persons were reportedly recruited without any form of advertisement for the jobs as required by law while an unspecified number of persons have equally been recruited into the Nigeria Immigration Service.

When contacted, the PTDF to clarify the report of the recruitment, a senior official of the agency could neither deny nor confirm it, but urged our correspondent to seek the needed information from the management.

Head of Press and External Relations, PTDF, Mr. Kalu Otisi, did not respond to calls made to his mobile phone in respect of the issue.

In the case of NIS, a senior official in the organisation confirmed that it had taken in new employees but said, “it was not a recruitment, but a mere replacement exercise.”

It could be recalled that about 2,000 persons recruited into the Immigration Service in the twilight of the Goodluck Jonathan administration were sacked when the APC-led government took over power.

The affected personnel, who were recruited through a presidential directive after the 2014 immigration recruitment, lost their jobs on the excuse that the process of their recruitment did not follow due process.

However, they have now been replaced secretly, contrary to the civil service rules. Recently, the sacked immigration officials staged a protest at the Federal Ministry of Interior, Abuja. During the protest, the sacked workers lamented their plight and urged the government to reconsider its stand on their matter.

But an official of the NIS explained that what happened was not recruitment, but a replacement exercise meant to fill existing vacancies created by death, retirement or resignation of some former employees.

In the case of NSCDC, it was learnt that the authorities of the agency allocated job slots to prominent political office holders and chieftains of the ruling APC as a form of political patronage.
