Veteran Nollywood actor, Martins Njubuigbo who was diagnosed with liver disease has just been given a life line by Bro Joshua Iginla who is still in the mood of birthday celebration.


The prophet who got wind of the actor's story through multiple online sources, reached out to actor Bruno Iwuoha who confirmed the details to him. As part of his birthday largesse, Iginla then gave a cheque of N1 million to the ailing old man and promised to continue to assist him even after recovery.He said an old man like that should not be subjected to public spectacle for assistance. He also promised to see what else he can do to assist him after recovery.

Bruno, who confirmed the story said he was not surprised when the clergy gave him the cheque for Martin's treatment. He said he was responsible for his own upkeep too during his health challenges.

Some men don't have the anointing to resist sexual temptation - Sen. Dino Melaye.

He said this yesterday, while speaking at plenary during a debate on a bill prohibiting sexual harassment of students by lecturers in tertiary institutions. He said sexual harassment was a two-way traffic because some students intentionally seduce their lecturers with the aim of getting academic favours.

His words: “I support, wholeheartedly, that this bill be enacted to stand as deterrent to lecturers who take advantage of female students. However, the seductive and provocative‎ dresses of our students who enter offices of lecturers who have no anointing to resist sexual temptation should be discouraged."

A married man has been murdered in cold blood after he left his home in Mamfe to go and visit his mistress in Bamenda, Yaounde, Cameroon on Tuesday May 24. When he got to Bamenda at Mile 2, he was confronted by his mistress’ boyfriend and a fight broke up and he was brutally murdered by his mistress’ boyfriend. A Nigerian journalist, Keturah King with CNN has been unlawfully detained and assaulted by police in Dakar, Senegal.Diclosing the news,she said.....


"I've just been thrown against a wall at the airport and beaten up by the Dakar Airport police. They keep telling me to put my phone away and not record them. They refuse to communicate with me directly - choosing to speak to the men around instead''.

The Ondo state division of the Nigerian Police yesterday rescued two Reverend Sisters who were kidnapped along Lagos-Ore road in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state earlier this month.

Confirming the report, the state Police Commissioner, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison told newsmen yesterday in Akure, the rescue of the Reverend Sisters, Perpetual Apo, Bukola Familade and their driver, Zwugwa Zibai.

The two Reverend Sisters and their driver were kidnapped at Kajola axis of the Lagos-Ore expressway on their way to Ijebu-Itele in Ogun state for a function from Kaduna.

Ibifuro-harrison however did not give details of the rescue operations for security reasons.

Barely days to the 10th anniversary of the signing of the historic Greentree Accord that peacefully solved the Nigeria-Cameroon border crises at the Bakassi Peninsular, the Bishop of Mamfe, Andrew Nkea, has called for the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Paul Biya and former Nigerian Head of State Olusegun Obasanjo.

Talking as special guest during the launch of a conference organised by the Mamfe-Ikom Greentree Friendship Association, on the campus of the Catholic University Mamfe, the Bishop described the delay in recognising the outstanding diplomatic prowess exhibited by the two African statesmen, in the handling of what was clearly an explosive scenario, with soldiers only waiting for “orders to fire” as the “usual disdain which Africa receives at the level of the International Community”

On the dynamics of Nigerian-Cameroon relations 10 years after the Greentree Accord, the Bishop said 15 Rev. Fathers and Rev Sisters from neighbouring Dioceses in Nigeria, now work in the Mamfe Diocese. His Lordship observed that border-to-border relations must be promoted by both Governments with border communities.

Other speakers during the launch did included Catholic University dons, who presented papers on the role of Agriculture, trade and religion in the promotion of Cameroon-Nigeria Relations.

In his exposé, the provost of the School of Tropical Agriculture told the audience, to their surprise and delight, that every produce that grows in the Northwest Region can be made to grow in Mamfe for subsequent exports to markets in Nigeria. Another lecturer, talking on the possibility of fish farming, said catfish has been domesticated in Nigeria and can be replicated by fish farmers in Manyu Division.

The launch of the Greentree 10th anniversary is part of the roll call of activities designed by the Mamfe-Ikom Greentree Friendship Association, to raise awareness on the role of grassroots organisations in the promotion of Cameroon-Nigeria relations.

A Nigeria-Cameroon sports trek starts from Ikom to Mamfe and another conference on Cameroon-Nigeria relations holds at the Pan African Institute for Development, Buea, PAID-WA in the days ahead.

"I am trying to understand the logic in this. I am told one of the men in the picture below is a "repentant" Boko Haram member who is the "husband" of the young girl who is allegedly one of the Chibok girls said to have been forcefully abducted from her school over 750 days ago.

(1) Why is a man who was part of a terrorist criminal group that attacked and firebombed a school, killing the security guards, and abducting hundreds of young girls in a picture with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?

(2) Why is the abductor and serial rapist of a minor being referred to as her "husband" when he traumatised her and her family by kidnapping her and forcefully separating her from her parents for over 2 full years, a man who did not marry her with the approval of her family?

(3) Why was this criminal given a State reception and a Presidential handshake?

(4) Why is this felon not in chains and inside a dark dungeon giving valuable Intel to the security agencies to help them track down his fellow barbarians? * Is there something I am missing?" he said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on Thursday, May 19, 2016, arraigned one Emmanuel Emelife on a 16 count charge bothering on conspiracy, diversion of funds and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N56,000,000.00 (Fifty Six Million Naira), before Honourable Justice D. A. Onyefunu of Anambra State High Court, Awka. The case was reported via a petition by Oba Sir Larry Nwagwu who is a member of Uruoji Village Meeting, Nri, Anambra State alongside other concerned villagers alleging that on assumption of office on the 5th of May, 2012, they observed with dismay that the sum of N56,000,000.00. (Fifty Six Million Naira) has been plundered by the suspect, the former chairman and his treasurer, Fabian Nwonwu who is now bedridden from Village Meeting accounts domiciled in Nri Micro Finance Bank and Union Bank Awka respectively without due process between January 2009 to December 2011. According to the petitioner all effort made for the suspects to officially handover and render accounts of their stewardship for over twelve years proved abortive. Investigations carried out on the case revealed that there was huge inflow of funds to both accounts following various dues ranging from N15,000,000 to N30,000,000 levied on every adult allegedly for land parcelation and legal fees respectively.#Fraud. #EFCC

Like all Nigerians and many others around the world, I am delighted at the news that Amina Ali Nkeki, one of the missing Chibok girls has regained her freedom. But my feelings are tinged with deep sadness at the horrors the young girl has had to go through at such an early stage in her life.

Although we cannot do anything to reverse the horrors of her past, federal government can and will do everything possible to ensure that the rest of her life takes a completely different course. Amina will receive the best care that the Nigerian government can afford. We will ensure that she gets the best medical, psychological, emotional and whatever other care she requires to make a full recovery and be reintegrated fully into society.

Yesterday, medical personnel from Government and other NGOs examined her for a total of about five hours. Trauma experts from the UNICEF also met her. The Federal Government will assist Murtala Muhammed Foundation, which has already been providing support to the families of the missing Chibok girls and which runs a trauma and counselling centre in Kano, will also be involved in ongoing work with Amina, monitoring her progress and highlighting any additional support she requires.

The continuation of Amina's education, so abruptly disrupted, will definitely be a priority of the federal government. Amina must be enabled to go back to school. No girl in Nigeria should be put through the brutality of forced marriage. Every girl has the right to an education and a life choice.

Rest assured that this administration will continue to do all it can to rescue the remaining Chibok girls who are still in Boko Haram captivity. Amina's rescue gives us new hope, and offers a unique opportunity for vital information.

May Allah crown our efforts with success.

A self-acclaimed pastor was allegedly nabbed Wednesday May 18 at the Ijomu area of Akure, Ondo state, while hawking a fried meat and requesting people to join him in eating the fried meat for free. The suspect Mr Johnson Adeniyi who gave conflicting stories of what he was doing with the fried meat could not give a satisfactory answer to questions being put to him by the palace Chiefs. Kelechi Iheanacho has been recognized for his outstanding contribution to Manchester City over the course of the 2015-2016 season, with the official website of the Citizens handing him three awards at their informal Alternative End of Season awards.

The Nigeria international picked up the Best Fluke Goal award for his strike against Swansea City in December. The ex-Golden Eaglets star was credited with the goal in added time after Yaya Toure’s curling effort deflected off him.

He was nominated for the Best Consolation Goal for his screamer against Southampton, but the award was eventually handed out to Sergio Aguero for his goal in the 4-1 loss to Liverpool.

The 19-year-old Iheanacho got an honourable mention in the Individual Performance of the Season for his hat-trick versus Aston Villa. Argentine star Aguero beat him to the accolade thanks to his five goals against Newcastle United.

The Taye Academy product won the Best Disallowed Goal for his cancelled goal against Bournemouth and the Best First Touch award for his strike against Crystal Palace after coming on as a late substitute.

Borno state Governor, Hon Kashim Shettima has on Tuesday, May 17, presented cheques to 2 female graduates who emerged as overall best students out of 37, 259 graduating students of the University of Maiduguri at the just concluded 22nd combined convocation to study Msc in the United Kindom.


Borno state Commissioner for Higher education, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Jaha said the presentation of cheques is based on the pledge made by the Governor to sponsor the 2 overall best students (indigenes of Borno state) to further their studies in some of the world's best Universities.

The Commissioner enumerated that Fatima Zakari Abatcha is a first class student of the Department of Computer Engineering who also emerged as the overall best graduating student of the University during last combined convocation while Ramatu Mustapha Goni is also a first class student of the Department of Geology who came second to Fatima Abatcha with just a tiny difference of 0.01 GPA.


Fatima Zakari Abatcha who is proceeding to Bradford University to study Msc in Computer Engineering got the sum of N7,129,200.00 and Ramatu Mustapha Goni who will study Msc in Petroleum & Geoscience Exploration got the sum of N11,450,000.00 as tuition fee while Gov. Shettima on his own part, pledges to personally shoulder their upkeep throughout the duration of their study and instantly gave an undisclosed amount to both in line with his pledge.

The presentation was made during a courtesy call to the Governor by 29 female Part 2 going to 3 medical students of the National University of Sudan who are being sponsored by the Borno state government to study medicine, whom the Commissioner said, have all successfully passed their examination.


While addressing the prospective Msc students and medical students on attachment, Gov. Shettima congratulated them for performing excellently well in their studies and emphasis that his administration attaches great deal of premium to girl-child education.

"If you educate a man, you have educate an individual and if you educate girl, you have educated a nation. Women form the basis of any civilization, they form the fulcrum of every family and educating the girl-child is key in our quest to reposition our society especially in the area of medicine and medical sciences in general."he said.

He said the state government had just approved the sum of 238 million Naira for the medical students to enable them settle their tuition fee, cost of living and medical allowances for the whole year and promised to visit them in Sudan very soon.
The 29 medical students were in Maiduguri to undergo a 2 month compulsory hospital attachment while the remaining 31 students who study in Elrazi University are yet to arrive.

The president of the Muslim Council of Elders, who is considered as the highest Islamic figure in the world, Sheikh Ahmed Muhammad Ahmed el-Tayeb, has arrived Nigeria for an historic three days visit.

Dr. el-Tayeb, who is the current Grand Imam of al-Azhar, arrived with his delegation and were welcomed by a number of senior state officials and Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh Al-Husseini, the Mufti of Nigeria, Ambassador Ashraf Abdel Qader Salama, Egypt’s ambassador in Nigeria, and a number of leaders of religious communities.
