The most recent murder committed by these supposed life savers was witnessed on Tuesday the 8 of September 2015, the black day on which a potential first class graduate of theUniversity of Lagos (UNILAG),Miss Oluchi Anekwe, died after an unfortunate accident involving electric cables. She is not a lone victim, as other likeMiss Kelechi Preciousof theUniversity of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT),Mayowa Alaranof theUniversity of Ibadan (UI) andKolawole Fatai Morenikejiof theLadoke Akintola, University of Technology(LAUTECH) Ogbomosho, have all gone to 'waste' in similar manner. HOW DID THEY DIE? 1. Miss Oluchi Anekwe of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) – electrocuted on the street in August 2. Miss Kelechi Precious of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) – slumped in her hostel in August 3. Kolawole Fatai Morenikeji of the Ladoke Akintola, University of Technology (LAUTECH) – slumped at a football match in June 4. Mayowa Alaran of the University of Ibadan (UI) – slumped while watching a match in May MAYOWA ALARAN, University of Ibadan (UI) – slumped in May What binds all these cases together is the fact that medical staff negligence, combined with poor facilities actually killed these students. By implication, their lives could have been saved. WHAT IS WRONG? As an ordinary citizen that is not knowledgeable about how a university or a medical center is run, one may not be able to give precise suggestions or solutions, but it only takes a bit of commonsense to know that there are a lot wrong in Nigerian universities: 1. There are inadequate medical facilities at almost all tertiary institutions 2. Most institutions have no provision for first aid services or trainings for students 3. Hospital staff have very poor attitude to their patients and would be patients 4. There seems to be a belief that school health services are free when, in actuality, students have paid for it with their tuition 5. Acceptable safety standards are not respected, especially in students hostels In addition, many students are ill without even knowing it, as is seen in three of the cases discussed above. That three students collapsed and died without clear reason indicates that they have been ill for a while. WHAT CAN BE DONE? 1. Revamping university health services 2. Providing compulsory routine check-ups for all students 3. Instructing medical staff of universities to first provide treatment before observing protocols 4. Train students on basic first aid techniques 5. Create and maintain mini clinics/first aid centres across the universities, especially student hubs and hostels 6. Provide a functional university helpline that all students can call If we allow the death of Anekwe to fall by the roadside of public discourse, like the three before her, there may be many more names yet to be turned into trending hashtags amongst the student populace. Universities managements must be forced to protect students and ensure that health services are up to standard and safety procedures are followed. Otherwise, let's wait for the next life to be wasted. Please drop your comment about this piece below; Thanks, stayed tuned for more updates.. The fire outbreak which happened @ about 3:48pm today, burnt lots of belongings and documents of the occupants of room 204 hall 1 block A. As at when the fire broke out a female final year agric student who just returned from submitting her project after the stress of the day, took her bath and slept off, she slept really deep that she didn't even hear people screaming or shouting that the room was on fire, she was inside the room on her bed sleeping not knowing that fire has engulfed her room , it took the school fire service about 10mins to get to the room,as she was still sleeping, she said it was the sound of the siren from the fire service vehicle that woke her up,she woke up all she saw was fire,bt she was lucky to have been able to escape out She came out some part of her body swollen especially her hand, she was crying and thanking God she wasn't burnt by the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but eye witness say they heard a loud sound from the transformer the next thing fire was up in one of the rooms on the series The security service is still on investigation to find out how actually the fire broke out THANK GOD NO LIFE WAS LOST source: www.joelxclusive..co.ke/2015/10/how-uniben-final-year-student-escaped.html?m=1

With the incessant downpour in recent times, most areas have been flooded due to lack of proper drainage systems. What you see in the pix is a usual sight at Yaba College of Technology any time there's a downpour. We just hope the government does something about this soon enough. Life is not always rosy. Sometimes it can be very mean! It can serve you a handful of punches at times. Unless of course, you are not really placing enough demand on life. That is, being too careful or not taking enough risk. So the question is not “why is life so unfair?“ Or “how can we live free of mishaps?” The question should rather be, “how can I get back up when life knocks me down?” The best thing to do when life knocks you down is to pick up the broken pieces and start moving forward again. Many however, tend to wallow in self-pity after a major setback and seems not to know how to get back up on their their feet again. Based on a personal experiences, I have here 5 major steps you can take to get back on your feet and move forward when life knocks you down. 1.Take Time to Reflect: Adversity usually opens our eyes to certain realities that we may not be aware of previously. It exposes both our strengths and weaknesses. Reflecting and analyzing the whole situation usually help you see them in good light. What if that business deal that flopped was actually a means for you to cut toxic relationships? What if that loss of job was an opportunity for you to get empowered and become your own boss? What if that seemingly “bad” thing wasn’t so bad after all? Take a moment to think of the possible good that could come out of the seemingly negative situations. If you don’t learn anything from your failure you are likely going to fail the same away again. Every failure holds a lesson for us. 2. Dust Your Dreams and Vision: Yes! You once had those dreams and visions of what you wanted to achieve, and right now it seems they are no longer worth the try. But that’s not true. All you need to do is to dust and give them a push again. Write down those dreams, aspirations, ambitions etc. Remind yourself again how important and significant they are to you. That will serve as a motivation to give life another punch. Remember you cannot embark on a journey if you don’t know where you are going. You need a road map and direction. Your vision gives you that and keeps you focused. 3. Begin Again Where You Are With What You Have Left: After a major setback, we usually feel that there is nothing left, many often begin to feel depressed to the extent of nursing suicidal tendencies but that is not the way of winners, winners take responsibility for their lives no matter what happens. Taking time to reflect! Writing down your dreams and vision again will help you find a reason to begin again. All is never lost. Stop nursing the thoughts of where you could have been and start thinking of where you want to be. It is said once there is life; there is hope. You have to find an inner encouragement or motivation to get back up and start again. A knock down is not a knock out and you are not truly defeated until you’ve giving up. 4. What Do I Need To Do Differently?: The good news about setbacks is that often they are an opportunity to bounce back stronger. At this stage you ought to have pointed out the reasons why it all happened. What you did wrong, what you should have done. Now is an opportunity to start better. Re- strategize and give life another push. Ask “what do I need acquire, stop or improve on”? Remember that Insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. 5. Leverage Relationships: After a major setback many usually get withdrawn. However, if you want to get back on your feet and on track as soon as possible, you need others. See how you can leverage your relationships. Create new and valuable ones. You will always need people. We all do. Source:

knyte:Alright. I have a female GSD that's 15 months old. (This is her second HEAT)She was on Heat early last month and we crossed her with a german and rottweiler mixed breed. After 2 weeks she vomitted this yellowish substance and I suspected it should be signs of pregnancy. Then the 3rd week. She refused to eat, she was vomitting stooling Blood. I know it's not Parvo. To cut the long story short. Our VET doc came over to tthe house and said he doesn't wanna give her injection becos she's preg. He said preg dogs don't take injections. He later gave her injections and took her blood sample to check if she's still pregnant in his LAB. 3days later he called me and said the result was negative. . Chai!!!!. I was weak. Didn't knw what to do again!. Well, This is the 5th week now. And I still feel she's pregnant. She sleeps everytime. Not active like before. Less aggressive. But eat more food. Could this be that she's still pregnant. Her stomach looks somehow big. Lemme try and attach her pictures to this post

UNIABUJA Post-Pones Resumption – See New Date Here The SUG transition committee regrets to inform you that the school resumption date which was earlier anticipated to be on the 19th of October, 2015 has been postponed to the 2nd of November, 2015. The postponement of the resumption date was as a result of the directive given by the Federal government that all ministries, departments and agencies operate a Treasury single account. This directive has made the process of accessing funds for the university to be difficult due to the incomplete implementation of such directive. The transition SUG Transition committee therefore plead with our great students to make effective utilization of the postponement as the school management looks forward to creating a conducive atmosphere of learning. We wish to use this medium to say happy independence to our great students and urge us all to continue praying for God to guide our leaders and for everlasting peace in our great country Nigeria. Long live Uniabuja Students! Long live University of Abuja!! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!! Signed: SUG Transition committee Source: www.joelxclusive..co.ke/2015/10/uniabuja-post-pones-resumption-see-new.html?m=1 |
