erictack203: My fellow E-family, it's been a long journey and today, I am finally ready to share my Success with the House.
As you all know, I applied to Study Nursing at the Australian Catholic University Melbourne Campus but was denied Visa by Pretoria September last year. With the Courage of the great ppl of this house, I didn't give up, I garthered myself and re-applied to Metro College of Technology for an Advanced Diploma of Disability in Brisbane.
After paying my fees, gotten my CoEs and applied for Visa to Pretoria in early November, I called Pretoria towards the Xmas break in December and I was told that my CoEs were Cancelled and my application will now be accessed as an AL3 application.
I was so confused (I used a registered Migration Agent and an Australian Legal Practitioner), I contacted my Lawyer and informed her, she tried calling Pretoria to no avail and then tried contacting the School, no one is answering, we waited till after the Xmas and contacted them again over and over, no response, I almost shit on my pants, my Lawyer then contacted CRISCOS and found out that Metro College has been de-registered(Closed Down) by the Australian Government. Luckily for me, we were able to get in Torch with the CEO whom then refunded my Money to a Trust Account in Australia.
In this case, we have to amend my application which is still at Pretoria, I then applied for a related program at Queensland International Institute (QII) and made the fee payments and sent a fresh application through my Agent/Lawyer to Pretoria, Early January, Pretoria didn't send any response when we kept contacting them, they will keep telling you 3months.
On the 22nd of February, I got an email from my Lawyer with a Refusal Notification from Pretoria, using the Metro CoEs to assess my application after series of emails and phone calls informing them about my new CoEs and application amendments, they still used the old CoEs which they all knew has been cancelled to assess the application (Negligence). My Lawyer hit back and hit hard pointing out a "Jurisdictional Error" to the CO, the case was moved to the Senior Regional Director of Immigration in Africa, she then sent us an email that they have sent my application to their Legal Opinions Department in Pretoria to have a review, that once the Legal Department gives their Opinion, a fresh assessment will be made on my application.
I say "wetin" so to enter Australia again na fight? Where ppl are getting grants here and there my own case is different, to some extent I even thought I was cursed.
I decided to try another route, I actually needed this Nursing, I asked my Cousin about life as a Student in the USA, he told me and also told me that USA rejects Visa like Virus, that it's a no go area, my wife advice me not to be discouraged and that I should try, my friend in Darwin (Australia) kept advising about USA and the good opportunities there, I decided to try.
I applied for Admission in BSN(Nursing) and I also applied to the Embassy with my Family for a B1/B2 Visa, to my greatest surprise, we were all granted. I applied for the Admission early March and last week Thursday, I got an Offer to Study Nursing at University of Central Oklahoma, USA. While I was planning how to attend another Student Visa interview, I contacted my new School and told them I intend to Visit them for 2weeks and return to Nigeria to apply for an F1 Visa. The Office advised me that no need, that if I have a valid Visitors Visa and have not enrolled in a School or take an Employment or breach the Visa by over staying and so on, that I am qualified to change my Status to an F1 Visa.
https://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/students-and-exchange-visitors/students-and-employment/special-instructions-b-1b-2-visitors-who-want-enroll-school
So, I took and deep breath and said "well, that's it" my Fate is in USA. Life is all about persistent and never to give up. My program starts in August and I wan just enter the town go enjoy small for 2 weeks and come back, make I clear all the wahala wey Pretoria gimme since last year.
I will like to advice everyone here, whether you are a Visa applicant or seeking to Study or those already Abroad: you all should never give up in your Quest, God's time is always the best and the greatest, no one or any situation should make you feel regret, stand up to your challenges and set your sails, trust me, you will achieve results.
I dedicate my Special thanks to Almighty God. And I appreciate the Gurus in this House; Laminaira, Mrlinobrawn, Oga Bellong, NNBB, Lawland, Scrollmein, Pmiller, Aussy4me, our BossLadymo1, MPop. And everyone that has contributed to the building of this great thread, I will never forget our main Boss in this House (Oga Justwise) for his good works in keeping this thread alive, may God grant you all your heart desires and strengthen you more.
I urge all of us in this great forum to keep up the good works and never abandon any1 who needs help, we should not run from the house whether we get what we came here for or not, life is a circle and every1 has his/her SET TIME.

Dontee5star: . Am over 25 years of age , I have 7.5 in ielts , b.tech in computer science , my occupation is on the list but only a year working experience Ouch, the years of experience is a little set back for u, since ACS - the assessing body for computer scientists/IT personnels - require a minimum of 3 years to get a positive outcome. |

Dontee5star: . Well I graduated Lautech 2 years ago , 5 year course program in computer science , 1 year working experience ,I just needed to be blunt ! thanks bro It's very rare to find a good paying job that can afford you the extra amount you will need for your subsequent semester(s) with just a student visa. Now, with the 2m naira from your uncle, you can get a permanent residency visa, the 2million covering your skill assessment fee and PR visa application fee, so I hv learnt from my research both on this thread and other expat sites & forums! That saves you a lot of money and offers better opportunities. If you hold a permanent residency (PR), you can move to Australia, live and work( good paying job) and then proceed to do your masters which will be cheaper in terms of tuition. But I am not vast in this PR thing, aforementioned are as much as I know. I be pikin for that area. The gurus in the PR area @NNBB2012 @Scrollmeout @bellong @johnsontade can help give u a better insight. Cheers |

Stanleyelege: Hello house.
I thank everyone who ve been making input on this thread. Infact I ve learnt a lot here.
I have one question pls.
I ve kicked off my admission process with Charles Sturt university Melbourne as I have already forward the requested documents to my agent.
If am offered admission, pls how do I pay the school fees. Am I to take the stipulated sum to a Nigeria bank nd pay directly to the school's account?
Can I also verify the account and admission status from the school just to be sure the admission is real. My reason of asking is Cus am using the service of an agent whom I haven't met but was refered to. My parents have been asking hope it's real, hope it's not 419. Well i won't blame them as I was recently scammed while processing Canadian Visa. This is already creating dusturbance in my mind.
Pls help. Hello, After you are given an offer from the school, you will be notified directly by the school or in some cases your agent will send your offer letter to your mail. Your agent has no business with handling your fees, it's your sole responsibility to see that you send your fees across to the school. The school will state the mediums through which you can pay your fees on the offer letter. The most common is through the Western Union Business Solution. Here, you will generate a payment invoice sort of, from a global pay link from the school website (or link provided in your offer letter). The sum stated on the invoice will be what you will use to fill your Form A with your bank. Hence fund your bank account sufficiently (equivalence of dollar to naira ~197/$). Cheers. |

Phemorinho: thank you so much for your prompt response. but can ENGLISH test be skipped at all *covers face* Yes it can but its mandatory you write it. U will need an English test in the future when you want to apply for student/part-time/casual jobs (in some cases) then most importantly if you want to extend your stay in Australia after your student visa has expired. You will need it for your post study visas or permanent residency visas |
Travel › Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by jorgan(m): 12:08am On Mar 20, 2016 |
Phemorinho: Hi all, I just applied to Flinders and Edith Cowan without any ENGLISH test scores, I only got a letter of attestation of ENGLISH language proficiency from my school. I want to know if writing PTE later won't affect my chances of getting a visa. I hope they won't say,my ENGLISH test scores came after my offer.thanks. No, it won't affect your chances of getting an offer neither will it affect your Visa. Furthermore, from my experience, Edith Cowan will give you an offer to study without requiring an English test from you... same goes for some other Australian Universities. |

For those that are yet to pay their fees, I will give u the following advice:-
- use any of the leading banks in Nigeria to process your payment (First bank, Union bank, Gtbank or Stanbic IBTC)
- Don't let the restriction on forex discourage you, the earlier you fill the form A, the better for you.
- When you fill the Form A with any of the listed banks above, no matter what do not withdraw your application. Just make sure that the bank has stamped and signed where neccessary and has submitted your application to their headquarters.
- It can take as long as 4 weeks for the bank to supply your application with forex. So be patient
- Donot put your eggs in one basket. Explore other means to get your school fees across.
Goodluck |
