Joebie: Is he talking about NFF Presidency? |
GOD'S CREATURES PROVE GOD My friend: "Joe, God can't be seen, can't be touched, is in no particular place and is not substance or matter in any form but we know God exists through the creatures he created." Joe: "You start by saying things we can both agree with. The god you believe in: - Is invisible - Cannot be felt - Is in no particular place - Is not made of matter You will notice that these properties of your god are also properties of things that do not exist at all. It is true there are things that exist that cannot be seen or felt but we do not know it is possible for intelligence to be in no particular place and all intelligence we have ever observed results from matter organised in a complex way. How could nothing have intelligence? How could nothing be organised? We have no idea. In defining your god in this way, you set yourself a difficult task. Not only does your god have all the properties of things that do not exist--it has properties that should make it impossible to exist! This does not prove your god does not exist but it makes it something we should be EXTREMELY sceptical about--we need very clear evidence to be convinced such a being exists outside of fiction. Your evidence is that "we know God exists through the creatures he created." Let's examine that logic. We know creatures exist but we don't know how the very first self-reproducing thing came to exist. What are the possible causes? Half a dozen, as yet unproven, natural mechanisms have been proposed. Maybe one of these will be shown to be true, or maybe another mechanism, as yet not proposed, will be shown to be true. We don't know. We will have to wait to find out. You have proposed a supernatural mechanism. You have proposed an invisible, undetectable, made-of- nothing mechanism. So, when thinking about the cause of the first self-replicators, we have some options to chose from. Honestly, we do not yet know which one really was responsible, so what should we believe right now? There is only one rational conclusion--we do not yet know which mechanism was responsible. You reject the rational conclusion. You confidently believe an invisible, undetectable, made-of-nothing mechanism was responsible and that is a completely unwarranted conclusion. There is something else you should think about. All the natural mechanisms proposed are based on chemical processes that we can replicate and we know work. Your proposed mechanism is based on an invisible, undetectable, made-of-nothing being that we do not know exists and may even be impossible to exist." |
tbaba1234:Keshi played him as a LW, not a striker. Ideye was in the middle, with Moses and Martins flanking him. Mba was stationed as a AMF. That was why it was Musa that came for Martins not long after the break. Keshi grudgingly invited him, and used the excuse of that match to exclude him from further call ups. I remember Musa came in for him not long after the second half started. Musa played poorly too, and only the heroics of Oduamadi gave us the equalizer at the death. Keshi continued to invite Musa, Ideye, Uchebo, Ujah, Gambo, players who were not at par with, nor had Martins' goal pedigree in the GWG. To be sincere, Martins has not been treated well in the Eagles. I also think if he had access to the national team like Musa did, he would have beaten Yekini's records. Everywhere he's gone, he's always delivered. Period! |
Can we stop the personal attacks on those who oppose our stand on the Super Eagles? Yes, they can be infuriating but it is unnecessary to call them names for it. About the game: The positive is that the fans (well, some) will no longer clamour for some players. Joel Obi was hailed as the best thing since slice bread, now we can see clearly. Hopefully, the attack against the coach will not be as high when next he doesn't invite your favourite players. |
Mujtahida:I recommend Narconomics to you. It's a very enjoyable book. |
komekn:LOL. When Obagoal was there, we did not even get out of the group stage at the world cup. When Aluko was there, we did not even qualify for the Nation's cup. Yet these are the saviors who will propel us to the Semi Finals of the World Cup. I often want to caution those who speak ill against you on this thread, but these kinds of statements still my fingers. |
safarigirl:I'm sure I'm not the one surprised there is no Kelechi on your list. ![]() |
TheSuperNerd:We should evolve beyond using The Hive for our matches. With the vast support base of the Eagles in London, a capacity of 5,176 is grossly inadequate. Even in terms of revenue, the NFF is losing so much. The Super Eagles is now an exciting brand and the NFF should be creative in milking it. It's the same lapses we see with the Jersey. People want to buy now, and you say you will only make it available when you want to. Doesn't work that way. |
Olatunde Olayinka Ayinde Someone was trying to save my soul via guilt. So he asked: my brother, where will you spend eternity? So I proceeded to give him a short lecture. There are several options of where and how to spend eternity, as documented and believed by millions of people, each option as legitimate and as deeply emotionally held as the next one. I could be reincarnated as an earthworm, for being a troublesome human, according to the Buddhists and the adherents of Jainism and Sikhism. I could end up in front of Osiris, where my heart would be weighed for judgement in preparation for the underworld. Or I could end up in Valhalla, the Great Hall of Warriors... Or end up at the right hand of Yahweh, singing haleluyah to cymbals and trumpets forever. Or better still, I could end up in the bosom of 72 virgins with nipples like double turrets. You see, there are literally thousands of options. Only one of these options do we have abundant evidence for: you will die and decay. The atoms that make up your erstwhile body will be recycled again to become components of plants and animals and other inanimate objects. In about a few billion years, when the sun is done with its career, it will die in grand style and all its planets with it, to become the raw materials for new stars and galaxies, and the rest of the universe. From stars you came, to stars you shall return. Shine brightly while you still have the time to shine. Evangelism over. Brother was more confused than when he started. That cocksure certainty of the evangelist had vanished like water vapour. Brother was only aware of The Hallelujah Place. The sad result of reading just one book and carrying about arrogant ignorance. |
IT'S TRUE, THERE ARE GODS There are gods. Not God, but gods. There are a lot of them. And one of them knows one of us better than any human knows us--better than our brothers, our parents, our best friend or our most intimate lover. That god knows what we really think about everything; our desires, our passions, our fears and the darkest secrets that we reveal to no-one. We know our gods too. We know them as well as they know us. And this closeness is what makes gods so reassuring and comforting. It couldn't be any other way and it couldn't be more obvious. Many people like to believe their god is in charge but it's not really like that. Think of it more like dancing partners but we lead and they follow. We stay in perfect step most of the time but, occasionally, one of us puts a foot wrong. We are this close to gods because they are part of us. They reside in our minds. They were born there, they live there and, when we die, they will die with us. Gods are given different names in different cultures. Whatever, name you give your god, I prefer the term, alter ego. |
Joebie:You're pulling an unnecessary fallacy called fallacy of false dichotomy here. That you're an European does not mean you cannot be a Nigerian. It is not an either/or proposition. Why are you making a big fuss about this? This will be my last comment on the matter. |
Joebie:What would you rather they do with their European passports? Looks like you're reading your own meaning to my otherwise positive contribution. You're responsible for whatever racist undertone you interpret my statement. |
Joebie:Are they not Europeans, well with the exception of Idowu if it's true Russia doesn't allow citizens hold two passports. |
Kog45:I thought you were referring to Alampasu. Of course, Ajiboye has been playing. He played CHAN. He also plays in his club side. |
Kog45:Dele has not been playing games. He can't be invited. If any goalkeeper deserves to be invited it has to be Aiyenugba. And Uzoho needs to consolidate on his confidence. He didn't have a terrible performance yesterday. In fact, I think he should keep for the remaining friendly matches. He needs to be tested as much as possible, so we can know what he needs to work on. |
Humility017:There were many loose balls during the crosses to the box, some of them were free headers. We were lucky not to concede. We need to work on dealing with crosses. But I'm very happy we were defensively disciplined. You would think it was an European defense, and indeed it was. Balogun, Ekong, Idowu, Ebuehi. All Europeans. |
forgiveness:He was playing too deep. Instead of creating, he was making too many rash tackles. At a point, I feared he would get a red. He eventually got a yellow. I think Kelechi drifting to the 18-yard box affected Joel's connection with the attack. They were supposed to work together. A question: For those who watch Torino's games, how much creativity does Joel pack in his game? It was absent yesterday. I expected him to hold the ball, spray passes and generally dictate the tempo. Onazi did drive forward and pushed the attack when he joined the foray at the latter stage of the match. |
Humility017:I have not really been a fan of Simon. I think he is not an intelligent footballer. But then he is in the team, so we might as well try him, even if it's to show Iwobi that he may be the poster child of the new Eagles but he is by no means undroppable. |
Humility017:Ighalo is always full of energy. A defender's nightmare in terms of physicality. But he lacks that killer instinct a good striker must have. Overall, he was average in the match. |
Perspective: Poland was at home. We practically played and defeated a Lewandowski-led Polish side in front of a 42,000 polish crowd. Not a small deal! |
Moses' penalty gave the goalkeeper paralysis. |
Mikel is just so important in this team. Joel has been quite underwhelming. Not connecting with the attack like he should. |
Chai... Uzoho. Our best bet is to ensure the defence doesn't allow balls get to him. See my heart beating fast. |
Moses is killing Kelechi's shine. Some senior player ish. |
Why have they not allowed Kelechi play any of these free kicks? It's annoying. |
FabioPeter:Often when I see your moniker, I often read it as Fabio Lanipekun. Who here knows the man? |
Icon4s:I'm sure you will question why Obi is starting tonight. |
Rabzy, I see you. |
Oasis007:LOL. I have rejigged it. Uzoho Ebuehi Ekong Balogun Awaziem Idowu Ndidi Obi Moses Iwobi Kelechi |
AIG07:When theSuperNerd mentioned me, better believe that I was still a hundred pages away. Crazy fans everywhere. |
fabyom:I would not use this formation. Mine: Ebuehi Ekong Balogun Awaziem Idowu Ndidi Obi Moses Kelechi Iwobi Let's try the 5-3-2 pattern a second time. |
I just took the day off work just to concentrate on a friendly match. A friend says I'm a Super Eagles fanatic. LOL |
