I don't know why it doesn't bother us that a certain guy's goal is to have a church on every street in Nigeria where every one of the professors of engineering living on these streets would believe and actually preach that cars run on empty tank.

That is a complete hijack of the intellectual engine of the country. It is the prelude to the utter destruction of the future of education and critical thinking among young persons, the end of a knowledge-based economy and science/
technology-driven national development.

In case you're wondering if this is an exaggeration: guy has recruited high flying professionals in every area of human endeavour in the country as pastors. It is a systematic subjugation of the intelligentsia.

It's a national emergency!

You cant sit down with educated Brits in a discussion and not get these questions:

1. So what do you do for a living?

Imagine the amount of prayers and blessings he has received from your favourite "Men of God". The man is also a Chief o. Traditional titles go to robbers and vagabonds these days. All those daft "slay queens" he has nacked nko?

You know he is a "Godly" guy? He believes in God so he is better than a bloody atheist like me who believes in working hard, smart and legally for my earnings.

His blessings in form of proceeds from kidnapping and torturing, maiming and even killing must have come from God. God answered his prayers when he collected 1million dollars ransome in one of his kidnap adventure.

I could go on and on...but imagine he had joined APC or PDP with his monies, a Naira billionaire- tell me say he for nor become Senator or Rep in National Assembly in 2019?

Then some absolute imbeciles will carry placard and say "leave our brother alone" if Police move on him then.

That is una Nigeria o. Make una dey enjoy am.

It takes 28days for concrete to gain approx 99% of its strength in which case the concrete can convincingly carry its own weight and imposed load. it's safe to remove the formwork after 28days.
Generally for concrete members, it's safe to remove the soffit (underside) after 28days while you remove the vertical sides after 24hrs.

Bros, the most difficult ball for a goalkeeper to save is a close header. In fact, the only sure way any goalkeeper can save it is if it is nodded straight at him.

Akpeyi should not be in our national team, but he was not responsible for any of the goals yesterday. I saw that he tried his best to get a red card for the second goal, and I wished he did because that will rule him out of contention for the next games.

Now the Seychelles game that we were supposed to use to cap some untested players has become do or die. We cannot go complaisant against Libya also.

All our remaining fixtures are now very important bc we are not likeky to finish top of our group anymore. In selecting of the 3 teams to scale through points and goals deference are used. -2 goals difference is already a big set bacj. We must beat Seychelles by a very wide margin to make up.

I'm not worried. With our big boys back, we will beat SA away.

Many factors led to the shock SA win.

Our major problem yesterday was that we did not have players willing to run at their defenders. I knew we were going to concede. We must concede with Akpeyi starting, a new CB pairing, first time Onazi-Ndidi defensive pairing. But I felt we would outscore them. And we should have. Alas, Iwobi didn't come to the party, Musa was fasting and Kelechi became starved of the ball, plus he didn't have the drive to track to the middle to get the balls himself, thereby pulling the defenders out of position.

In the return leg, with Victor Moses back, we will have our best dribbler back. That will open the spaces and with Mikel's leadership in the middle, we will be able to carve spaces for someone like Kelechi to bury the chances.

Balogun should also be back, therefore we should have the usual fine CB pairing. Echiejile and Shehu were fine in yesterday's game.

Things like this happen. We will be fine. We will be at Russia and Cameroun.

Or Maybe he's aware of your challenges but chose to ignore you.

Or God is fully aware of your sufferings, he heard all your prayers and he could do something about it but he's too busy at the moment with other important issues at the moment because he has a bigger plan for you. Keep praying and hopefully, your prayers will be answered."

I couldn't take any of her further questions anymore. So I simply ignored her 'coz she's seriously annoying the hell out of me.

Usually reinforcements have a length and often one needs more than one reinforcement for a span, so we need to join the bars. How do you know the length to lap the rods?

Example, a length of rod is about 12m(?). If you need to arrange it in a 20m beam, what is the lapping length to use in the new rod?

My only problem is that both actors in this odious dialogue ended their calls with "god bless you."

God definitely blesses corrupt people if he existed in Nigeria.

If god existed and is pro-corruption, wouldn't Nigeria be a good example?

Is your Nigerian god omniscient?

Why didn't he prevent Dino from winning?

Is your Nigerian god omnibenevolent?

Why doesn't he have pity and love for the millions of poor people who are cheated by people like Dino Melaye and Akon Ikpeme?

When you assert your claim about this god, make sure it passes the Epicurean paradox.

By accepting that god doesn't exist, you will not let Dino and Akon into the hands of god for some celestial punishment, you will demand accountability and punishment in the here and now.

I was reading about anchorage in reinforcement, but didn't really get the nuances well. Can you explain it in layman's terms for me?

So, you leave the space for the staircase with reinforcements coming out. Then at what stage do not return to it to do the staircase itself?

I'm none. Building construction just fascinates me and have always wanted to know more about the technicalities of what makes strong and durable structures.

Day four..
Casting of the foundation footings
These footings have two type
1. Strip footings
2. Isolated pad footings

The strip footings are 675mm (3 times the width of foundation block wall) and 225mm thick.

The total perimeter of the foundation is about 200m removing the column bases we leave us with about 145m

Volume of strip footings = 145x0.675x 0.225 = 22cubic meters.
Using a mix ratio of 1:2:4 by weight, we have about 6.25bags of cement per cubic meters = 6.25x22 =137bags (giving an allowance of 20% for wastage, occasionally wider strip footings) = 1.25x137 = 165bags.

For the column base : we have about 36 x1.1x1.1x0.45=
20cubic meters + 2.2x1.1x0.45x2 = 2cubic meters
We have a total of 22cubic meters = 165bags of cement.

Total calculated value required = 330bags of cement

Kindly break these calculations down, especially how you arrived at the amount of bags of cement, tonne of sand and tonne of gravel. Thanks.

You can make provision for the staircase at the sand filling/compaction stage, by marking out a 1200 x 600 space at the very point of the step base and leaving it without a concrete cast when the over site concrete is being cast.

I was going through some threads and saw where reinforcement was left at the space where the staircase will be. I was curious why.
