Romance › Re: Is A Single Person Qualified To Be A Marriage Counsellor? by joseph1832(m): 11:49pm On Feb 22, 2021 |
Tolexander: The bolded part is a fallacious statement. How can you be experienced without participating in it?
That is not experience. It is called knowledge from what you’ve seen and read and your ability to discern the good from bad.
Experience is an event, act or occurrence you’ve been actively or passively involved in.
Any Tom, Dick and Harry can lecture on marriage, but everyone can’t be perfect in marriage cos it takes the two (man and woman) to tango. Even Chris Oyakilome has lectured and still lecturing on marriage and still didn’t keep his home let's draw the line on the word 'experience'. So remember what they say about experience? It's the best teacher if or when you survive that experience. I'm saying a single person may experience marriage without being married. That is if that person is observant about the activities of the people who are married around him or her, that person might have the experience to counsel those who don't have the same experience with her/her. Remember our values, norms and morals are drawn from the very first form of socialization, which is the family. So a person who came from a home where the father is a celebrated drunk and the mum a serial _whore, what do you think that person's very first experience on marriage is going to be? Never forget, two things influences a person's behaviour: family and environment. |

Ishilove: Parental failure It's a thing that is rife now, especially in rural areas. You see human beings birthing kids like pigs and believe having kids without proper parenting is a very big achievement. I still hold very strong believe the government need to do something about it. It's becoming too much to even ignore. People who can't even afford to take care of themselves, still have the audacity to give birth to kids. Gosh!. |

Politics › Re: Roadside Traders Takeover Side Of New Lagos-Ibadan Rail line by joseph1832(m): 10:28am On Feb 16, 2021 |
naptu2: There are 2 things that usually happen. In the case of Nigeria, the train driver usually slows down and blares his horn and the traders scramble off the track until the train has gone (this is why the Enugu State Government and traders were angry with the train driver at the Enugu incident. He didn't slow down, neither did he blare his horn).
In the other examples that I gave above, the train usually passes at a specific time and so the traders begin moving their goods ahead of time.
This is why Rotimi Amaechi said that the trains have a maximum speed of 70 kmph within the Lagos area (because they don't want to kill people). They only speed up after going past Iju.
The Lagos State Government, the Railway Police and the NRC have often forced the traders off the rail line and confiscated their goods, but the traders usually gain the sympathy of the masses and they return to trade on the rail line as soon as the authorities have left.
The Fashola Administration began destroying and burning their tables and kiosks in an effort to deter them, but they returned as soon as he left office.
That administration planned to make its rail lines elevated (on bridges) as a means of avoiding the problem, but this makes the project more expensive.
The Federal Government plans to fence off the rail lines, but I suspect that the traders will find a way around that. What a stubborn set of Nigerians!. |

Hian. What a shame. If you tell them not to give birth to kids they can't take care of, our brothers in the north will say you're attacking their religion, while those in the south will say it's their right to birth kids.
All in all, what happened in Alakuko last week is the glaring evidence of producing kids whose parents can't take care of them, talkless of even having time for them.
A whole lot need to change before this country can move forward in any positive light.

Agboriotejoye: Exactly. People that have brains understand what you say. Which is why I asked you if the southern part of the country especially the urban centres where protests take place have those security issues you highlighted? It just sounds like a hollow attempt to present an alibi for the govt to outlaw protests. Are you saying there's no issue of insecurity and the likes in the souther part of Nigeria? Even the urban centres? Whoa... I refuse to be shocked. I'm sure the crusade by Sunday Igboho is alien to you. For example, the protests expected to hold on lekki today, how does the insecurity issues you highlighted affect lekki? so you aren't aware what happened during the last protest? You didn't see or watch the massive looting and destruction of property that followed? If there is adequate security, will what happened have happened? |

Agboriotejoye: This are your words. Meanwhile, if you say that protests are not healthy in our country, I wonder how you can excuse the protests of 2012 and 2014 and condemn that of 2020. That looks like double standard to me. there's no 'if' here because I didn't say so. What I said is written for those who have brains to read and comprehend. However, can you compare the state of insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, religious extremism and political bigotry in 2012 to that of 2021? |
