I am unfamiliar of what 'golden era' of Nairaland you speak about. Apart from breaking political news, trash is what makes it to the front page because that is what the mass public wants. It use to be anything Tonto Dike, then anything Regina Daniel (I forgot her name, the 18 years old that married a billionaire), now it's that bbnaija eviction bitch that I don't care to know.

Most of the people here are owners of "chewing gum blogs" who need contents that would stimulate clicks and views for advertisement revenue.
I registered on this forum before you and given your post history, I've been more active here than you. Believe me when I tell you there was a time when Nairaland frontpage was filled with thrilling topics.

Now this forum is but a shadow of its former self and the nonsense you mentioned is what is en vogue now.

PoliticsRe: Reps Pass Bill To Criminalise Estimated Billing by joseph1832(m): 7:44am On Oct 04, 2019
It is simple to say even with this, Power company will still give estimated bills because Nigerians don't even know what's right and what's wrong.

CAPSLOCKED:
CAN WE SAY THAT ONLY MADMEN AND FOOLS WATCH OTHER ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS AND FOOTBALL, WRESTLING, STAND UP COMEDY, AND MOVIES?

IT'S JUST A SHOW, MATE. CALM YOUR TITTIES DOWN. AT THE END OF THE DAY IF NIGERIANS ARE NOT WASTING THEIR TIME AND MONEY ON DSTV AND VOTING FOR BBN, THEY WILL WASTE IT ON BEER, WIGS, BROTHELS OR OTHER STUPID THINGS. RELAX.
no doubt it's just a show. But truly, The shows you mention doesn't require people to vote with their money after paying for subscription to watch that same show in the first place.

Also, 'wasting money on beer, wigs or even brothels' is something that is exclusive to the person's enjoyment. It's really simple, those who spend on wigs, beer or hoes get direct enjoyment from what they pay for. Unlike bbnaija where after voting with your cash the person you voted for doesn't even know you exist. Now that's a shame.

Atleast the person who sell wigs, beer or even pussy_ knows you personally. That's the difference bro. smiley

Exactly... Religion and tribalism is the tool used to control Nigerians since independence(I e if we r even independent)
truth is we aren't independent. We're fully a dependent country.

Not only are our political elite dependent on the west, Nigerians are also dependent on the political elite. It's thorough slave oppress slave system in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria At 59: What We Can Learn From China That Is 70 Years Old by joseph1832(m): 12:15pm On Oct 02, 2019
So it's safe to say the major reason why the Chinese communist government acted, was because they were afraid the masses will rise up and wipe them out.

Now in Nigeria the political elite isn't afraid of this because they know the masses will never attempt such, because they usually keep them in check with religion and tribal sentiment.
CareerRe: Federal Mortgage Bank Sacks Murtala Ibrahim, Whistleblower by joseph1832(m): 12:09pm On Oct 02, 2019
If Mr Ibrahim had not blown the whistle or probably assisted the thieves in that bank with what they requested from him, he won't be in this current state now.

If the federal government doesn't weigh in and help Mr Ibrahim, then it's a done deal.

They should start thinking about ordering some Otapiapia from Nigeria ASAP.

I'm even smiling they're trying to catch it, rather than kill it. grin

Craig Parker. Didn't even know he was in Lords of the Ring till I Googled it. Always liked him even in Legend of the Seeker and Spartacus.

I did my part in both the national election and Big Brother voting so anyone being hypocritical has him/herself to blame.
anyone can claim to do their part, but when asked to provide evidence, they scatter like Zebras sighting a lioness.
