Congratulations once again.....

zeb04:
Wowwww! Just coming back to see all these. I am really thankful for the likes of emmafe, josephb and all the odies that were here to help me before all the fight…. God bless you.

I joined visit thread because there was no life in the close permit thread “ my questions were answered quickly here.

Today, (3am) i was just thinking of the goodness of God in my life and how privileged i am to get this opportunity.

I was without a job for 2 years, i didn’t meet the complete requirements for this job, i didn’t know french, i was not already in Canada, but God showed me mercy. Unemployment is such a depressing state to be.

I thank God from the bottom of my heart for showing me mercy, and giving me a miracle that is so unbelievable ( clearly, even on this thread, i now see how blessed i am)

I just want to encourage everyone, seeing this is my last post here. Trust God and keep believing. For those waiting for PPR, may yours come speedily.

To God be all the glory.

Yes I have,

You felt attacked by my comment, everyone who had read in between the lines would understand I didn’t attack you or your personality.

Regards,

Hola55:
I don't think this message is for you,I don't know why you are replying me when the message is not for you.You are asking me if I have been to Canada before, you make me laugh,I should ask you that question, and that is rude of you
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 5:23pm On Jul 07, 2023
Yes, go ahead it will not affect anything.

Umegoejiofor:
you mean submit for the tourists visa?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 5:20pm On Jul 07, 2023
You mentioned CBSA here, have you travelled to Canada before?

Like I said, not everyone is asked to show proof back home, it depends on the CBSA Officer and your purpose of visit.

Regards,

Hola55:
Well, for a very long time I have been traveling, non cbsa officers has demanded such from me,I don't know if you are talking from experience or someone told you.things like this only happens if you are not consistent in what they ask you
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m):
Lool, what you said is not correct, if you are planning to go to Canada try to prepare your mind because you cannot refuse it.

Although not everyone would be asked to show their balances back home, a CBSA officer can ask you to show your account balance; this happened to us some days back, there is no way you would refuse this bro, else you are going inside the ROOM; you know what that means?

Regards,

Hola55:
Nobody can ask you to show balance in your account, they can only ask you for cash at hand
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 4:49pm On Jul 07, 2023
Are you doing Study or SOWP?

But I think if you apply on the IRCC portal you may not need to Flagpole.

But flagpole seems faster.

Good-luck bro.

Emmafe:
Anyone in Toronto planning to flagpole next week should please send a PM
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 2:47pm On Jul 07, 2023

No, if you are transiting in just one Schengen Airport, you do not need a transit visa, but if it is more than one, a transit visa or Schengen visa is required.

Regards,

Urohommy:
Does it require a transit visa?

Yes, you are right (For this period, Lufthansa is cheaper).

Mostly connects Air Canada from FRANKFURT to TORONTO.

ABSTRUSE:
In my opinion, Lufthansa.

I have seen students interrogated for non payment of school fees and no proof of funds at the border countless times, whilst others might not even be interrogated at all.

Don't even compare students to PR holders.

Regards,

Skyview01:
PR holders havea specific requirements to meet the minimum neccessary income(MNI) during visa processing before visa is approved. CBSA officers are not visa officers and not their business to check for income at the airport from a PR visa holder.
They only ask to see if a PR holder is coming into Canada with more than 10,000$ undeclared and that is the primary motive for the border agent at the airport.
For visit visa holder, it is very important for the CBSA agents to check if the visitor has enough money for their short stay as this will indicate if the visitor will be stranded and resort to work in Canada.

This will be a major breach in the visitors visa conditions and you may be sent back from the airport.

A PR holder or student visa holder can never be sent back from the Canadian airport because of lack of funds in the account as they are allowed to work in Canada.

I am a specialist in Canada Immigration.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 7:26am On Jul 05, 2023
What makes it abnormal for Students? Are Students auto citizens? If PR holders could go through rigorous screenings at times, I am afraid why students should be left out.

1. Tourist.
2. Students are often asked to show POF if school fees haven't been paid, you might even be lucky without having to answer many questions.

Regards,

Lan444:
Were you entering on study visa or visitor ?

As a student would I need too have my sponsor account logged on my phone too prove the funds ?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 11:46pm On Jul 03, 2023
YYZ

Julieni:
Which airport is this please?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 5:24pm On Jul 03, 2023
Yes, the dude asked for an address and called for verification after checking online and not satisfied, the guy even checked all previous visas on all pages of current passport and previous passports on the UV light.

Mandated that the bank app should be opened, converted the naira balance to CAD and USD to CAD; He checked the USD credit card and USD debit cards thoroughly, he asked about how much cash was at hand, but didn't check the cash.

It was just more like a secondary interrogation. maybe because of the 250 webforms and mails LOOL.

Lan444:
Were you asked for address you were going too or proof of funds at the airport ?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 5:20pm On Jul 03, 2023
Loool...

oluayebenz:
They stamp passport on rare occasion.

Normally, they don't waist their stamp ink anymore grin
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 5:20pm On Jul 03, 2023
Exactly...

omoMessiah:
Now electronic, only what got stamp was the ArriveCAN slip which you give back to the border officer.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m):
It was Airfrance, AirFrance and KLM value is now depreciating seriously every year especially the flight from Naija.

At a point, told the Officer to please stamp my passport I want to see the stamp, he was just smiling.

Not bad, Thanks, how is your process going?

Emmafe:
This people stressed my papa be dat o. My passport was stamped.

How was your flight n hope you’re enjoying ur holiday?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 12:52pm On Jul 03, 2023
Was your passport stamped at the POE?

Actually insisted my passport should be stamped the guy smiled and said no it’s not done like that anymore.

Stood there for some seconds and the guy was just smiling.

Ashirioluwa:
It is okay if you write “to visit my sister”.

Or

I am going to Canada to visit my sister and her family who live there. I will take advantage of this visit to travel within Canada to see some stunning tourist destinations for sightseeing.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 12:49pm On Jul 03, 2023
The guy basically said it’s done electronically now when we went back to him, he said it’s nothing to worry about. At YYZ.

Emmafe:
They still stamp o.

The first cbsa officer that interviewed n marked my kiosk receipt, I tot that was immigration so I went to claim my luggage. While trying to exit the airport I was turned back because my passport wasn’t stamped, I was ask to go back.

My passport was later stamped after I passed immigration, I was then allowed to leave. Passports n kiosk receipts were check before you can exist the airport.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 10:00am On Jul 03, 2023
Canada mostly won't stamp your passport at the POE.

They do it electronically now; previously they will always stamp you in.

It's on 1,327.16 Canadian Dollars and this fluctuates a lot.
CAD wrestles a lot with USD,
just as USD wrestles a lot with EUR & GBP.

Canadian Dollars is lower than US dollar.

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 9:06am On Jul 02, 2023
You are NOT wrong!!!

Ashirioluwa:
Although they didn't ask me many questions when I entered Canada on Monday, they did inquire about how long I would be staying and where in Canada.

Even if you intend to stay for 5 months, I don't think it's appropriate to let them know that at the port of entry, especially if you stated in your application that you are employed, because a 5-month annual leave will be strange to anyone.

Your best option is to buy a flexible plane ticket. Flexible flight tickets are those that allow passengers to change the travel dates as they wish or cancel the ticket for refunds. They are expensive than regular ticket.

I don’t know if open ticket is still available. You can talk to a travel agent to see if you can get one.

This is just my personal opinion, I might be wrong.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 9:00am On Jul 02, 2023
Obviously going to be called in for Secondary interrogation, this is 100% and you must be prepared to show enough proof of funds at hand and back home.

Well, I wouldn’t know what you are staying for 5months for, but if that is the case and you do not have sufficient claims to back this up and enough proof of funds at hand and back home, just do a 3 or 4 weeks booking, then open your ticket and fix a date later.

Regards,

Classicswagz:
Please a response will be highly appreciated for additional context I have been to Canada twice in the past and each time I spent more than 4 months but this time around an agent was saying something about extra scrutiny from immigration which lead me to ask here if I’m safe to book my normal 5 months ?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 11:26pm On Jul 01, 2023
Hi Guys,

Update: If you declare more number of days to spend in Canada at the Immigration stand you are most likely going to be asked to show the money you have with you to spend in addition with mandating you to open your bank app to check your balance and do conversions immediately (You know the current exchange rate now? So go prepared) Not only about the PTA/BTA you have at hand, they want to know if you have sufficient money back home.

Good-luck to everyone.

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 5:39am On Jun 25, 2023
Thank GOD for journey mercy!

But I told you about the return ticket, it’s VERY important for anyone on visiting visa.

Good-luck in all your endeavors.

Emmafe:
Arrived in Canada today, thank God for journey mercies.

KLM refused to fly me, they made sure I bought a return ticket.

POE experience was very simple and smooth

Cbsa: Why are you in Canada
Me: To visit my wife
Cbsa: What’s your wife’s status
Me: She’s a student
Cbsa: Can you show me a copy of her study permit
Me: Showed him on my phone

Stamped my passport n that was all.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by josephb(m): 11:13am On Jun 23, 2023
If you have clicked Tourism and didn’t ask about the hotel details, you shouldn’t be worried I believe. Just upload the necessary documents in the additional documents section.

Good-luck.
