Religion / What Is Grace? (A short story) by JourneytoEL(f): 6:46am On Jun 27, 2021 |
This sermon is in the form of a fictional conversation, as you read may you be blessed. Sam: Choi, this life no balance oh Matthew: (cuts him short) there's power in spoken words, avoid such statements. Sam: forget that thing bro, wetin i dey reason you be say, my guy lekan wey me and am dey drink garri last week don hammer, like the boy too get grace. Person wey just start yahoo 2wks ago done pick 3m. Walai see grace oh. God, why i no get grace?, why am i so unlucky? Matthew: Yahoo? Grace? In the same sentence? Is it Grace of Jesus or grace of mammon you're talking about? Are you sure you know what is Grace? Sam: person wey just start G work 2wks ago don pick 3m and you dey yarn dust, no be grace of God abi you think say him easy. U wey sabi, wetin be Grace? Matthew: Good question. Now sit, let me share the counsel of God with you. Grace means unmerited, undeserved favour from God. Sam: see na, we are saying the same thing. Matthew: No, the unmerited, undeserved favour of God is towards righteousness, holiness and the will of God. Sam: okay, how? Matthew: what irritates you most? Sam: snakes. I hate them with passion. Once i see one, i would look for a big stone to kill, i won't rest till it is cut in pieces. I go knack am wella wella. Matthew: Okay, that is exactly how God hates sin. Sins are a reproach to God. It makes him angry. He can burn down a city for sin. He fit knack am wella wella. So, he can never use his dearest gift called Grace to facilitate sin. Sam: hmmm Matthew: excelling in yahoo yahoo isn't grace, winning bbnaija after promoting lust is not grace, buying car from 'small god' isn't grace, as far as it's sinful and against the will of God it's not grace. All unrighteousness is sin (1 John 5:17). Sam: So how does grace work? And why don't i have grace? Matthew: There are different dimensions/types of grace. There is grace not to fall into sin. When i was in school, i planned with a girl to lose my virginity, on that day, it rained heavily even though it was February, i told her to still come, the bus she entered broke down, her phone got spoilt, las las she use vex go back house. It was when she didn't come that was when i realised myself, i repented and asked God for forgiveness. Sam: Choi, that kind thing don do me before oh. When i was in year one, i wanted to join the biggest cult group in uni, on the day of bamming (initiation), i fell very sick, infact i was admitted into the clinic. The next day, i heard police raided the occasion and all the new initiates were later expelled. Na so God take save me. Even the guy wey give me link, was killed in a cult war 3 weeks later. Chai, so na Grace be that? Matthew: Exactly. Let me tell you another type of Grace. There's a Grace that gives you things that you know you didn't get by your own human effort. Sam: explain, biko. Matthew: You see this oil company i work for, I'm the only 2:2 graduate there, infact if you don't have 2:1 don't bother applying. Do you know how i got the job there? Sam: how? Matthew: i went into serious fasting and prayers when i applied for the job. They said no 2:2 but i still applied with faith. How they overlooked my result till the final interview is a mystery. I begged God that i will do his will in the company if he gives me the job. We were only 3 that qualified for the final interview. The M.D called the recruiter that he was told in a dream to give a job to the young man wearing a red tie, i was the only one wearing a red tie, so they gave me the job. And they have no regrets, infact I won the award for the best staff last year because i work with kingdom standards. Sam: Mad oh!! Matthew: no be me read pass, or dress pass but na God help me. But, that doesn't mean you should neglect hardwork oh, work hard and pray hard too. Sam: wawu, wawu, wawu. Is there another type of Grace? Matthew: There's grace to do those little things you overlook everyday like it's nothing. To sleep and wake up is grace, to enter bus and come down without one chance guys is grace, to eat food without been poisoned is grace, to travel without herdsmen kidnapping you is grace. Sam: abi o, infact to celebrate 18yrs of living in Nigeria is serious grace oh. Hmmm. Thanks, I've learnt alot. Besides karma fit strike lekan one day. Matthew: My guy, there's no such thing as karma in the bible. Sam: You say? Matthew: Guy, karma no dey bible. Lekan fit do yahoo, later marry a good wife, have lovely kids, live to an old age, become born again and even make heaven. That is another dimension of grace. Sam: Ha!!, okay na, make i go do my own yahoo na. Matthew: Lol, shall we continue to sin that Grace may abound? (Rom 6:1) Sam: meaning? Matthew: God cannot be mocked. Whatsoever a man sows that is what he will reap. (Gal 6:7) God knows you are trying to take advantage of him, so he won't give you the Grace, because you can't dupe God. For it is written in Heb 10:26, For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. Sam: Choi, the thing don cast ohhh. So, how do i get Grace and increase my Grace? Matthew: Come by this time next week, by the Grace of God i will teach you how to get Grace. Sam: Okay. Bye, see you next week, you too sure. 1 Like |

saynotocultism:You left cultism physically years ago, but you haven't left spiritually, that demon in disguise came to you because you are still a naive, baby Christian, I'm not here to scare you but your journey has just begun. You will not die, you will live to declare the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living for ever and ever. The demons that operated in you during your cultism days are the same ones that came to you in a trance to plant the demons of death. Read your bible, God never appears to anyone in a trance for the first time to tell them to die, no, when Jesus appears to you for the first time he will tell you to go and preach the good news or give you a mission on who to preach to. Number 2, Jesus never lies, he doesn't exaggerate or round off, the devil on the other hand is the father of lies, number 2, what is the possibility your thread saved an exact round off number of 68k souls. if the number of people your thread saved was 68,200 people, Jesus can never tell you it was 68k. I repeat what you encountered was a demon, i challenge you to wake up at midnight for 3 days and pray against demonic forces especially against demons of death and watch what will happen. When next that spirit appears either shout the Blood of Jesus or mutter the courage to ask it if Jesus came in the Flesh? The spirit will either say no or disapper to show you it was a spirit of darkness disguised as light. I will be praying for you over here. The journey for your soul has just begun my brother, be battle ready. This is the thread of someone who has faced the spiritual side of cultism, you can read through it. https://www.nairaland.com/5252047/cultism-spiritual-consequences-deliverance-through 2 Likes |

saynotocultism:i have been following your story for some time now and i am happy you have left all your charms and have given your life to Christ. By His Grace, i am a more matured Christian and i want to make comments on your trance. No 1: the bible in 1 John 4:1 says, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. no 2: the bible also says the devil can disguise as an angel of light (2 Cor 11:4). I am 90% certain that what you saw wasn't Jesus but the devil. He knows your resolve and he knows you will do damage to his kingdom that is why he came as fast as he could to plant seeds of death in your soul, when you accept death, then death will come. Can you remember how your spirit felt doing the trance, were you at peace or was your spirit troubled. I know your spirit was troubled before you finally accepted the offer of death the demon gave to you. I repeat what you saw was a demon disguising as Jesus, I will advise you to build an altar ASAP. look for a secluded part of your house or any place, choose a time maybe midnight , or 3 am or just anytime comfortable for you. Tell God that you want that place to be an altar and meeting place for you and him. Everyday go to that place at that particular time and pray, always pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit and pray against the spirit of death. Pray to God to direct you to a strong Christian for guidance so you can grow, i will advise you to start listening to apostle Joshua Selman messages then try apostle Arome Osayi and Michael Orokpo. It is written, that he will give us long life and he will save us( Psalm 91:16). Politics / Could This Be The Unknown Gun Men? by JourneytoEL(f): 5:10am On May 24, 2021 |
The so called UGM has burnt at least 5 police stations, yet not even one person has been able to record even 2 minutes of them in operation, which is odd for a country with social media freaks. No CCTV footage, ordinary picture we never see. Are they so invisible that no one can take a pic of them even in their bus on their way to their operation. I don't want to get started on how "professional" they are to be able to take down police stations with no casualties on their side. In my opinion, UGM is nothing but police officers burning their stations, but what do I know? I could be wrong though. 6 Likes |

> Sleep > Wake up > Pray > Work for 9-11hrs. > Return home > Take your dinner > Sleep. > Repeat the cycle. Is this the story of your life? Welcome to the rat race specially designed by mammon. Do you really believe this is why Jesus came to die for you, to go church once or twice a week, make money, marry, have kids, train them in school, retire, pressure your kids to marry, battle with high blood pressure or stroke, then patiently wait for death. My question for you today is, is this really all there is in life? No, there's more to life than the rat race, and the best achievement you can have in life is knowing your God given mission on earth. Atleast 50% of the people in Akwa Ibom are Christians, yet, it took a Danish woman who has discovered her mission to leave her country to another continent and save the lives of kids who were accused of witchcraft. While many Nigerian Christians are giving testimonies of acquiring visa to join the rat race in America and other European countries, yet she found her gold in the dirt and she's living a more accomplished life. With more than 1 million Nigerians attending catholic masses every sunday, yet it took only man, Jude Nnam, to compose the best indigenous songs that are been sung across their churches till this day. There are men and women like Mother Theresa, men who wrote Bibles, people who composed powerful hymns we still sing today after hundreds of years. Unknown missionaries who left the first world to mosquito-infested places to preach the Gospel and bring education to them. Many like Bishop Shanahan built schools generations ago in strange lands that still exist today. Should we talk about Mary Slessor, whose mission secured the lives of many twins in southern Nigeria? There are many Irish priests and sisters who left their countries to war-torn Biafra and God used them to save the lives of many starving and sick children. There are many people who have orphanages, free schools and through them are carrying out their mission on earth. Jesus gave us a peep into the rewards of a missionary life in Matt 25:33, when he said, “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, "I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ In the Great commission of Mark 16:15-18, Jesus told the eleven disciples and in extension every believer, 15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Note, Jesus didn't say only pastors should feed the hungry, or only G.Os should drive out demons or only pastor's wives' should clothe the naked or only ushers will lay hands on the sick, no, these missions were given to each and every one of us. As far as you call yourself a believer, a royal priesthood, you will be judged based on these standards. How to know your mission on earth. Pray to God and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal your mission to you. After, pay attention to your dreams or any burden in your Spirit e.g sudden desire to clothe the naked, visit the prisoners or you begin to notice all of a sudden the poor people in your environs. It's always best to have your mission revealed by the Holy Spirit, so you can trust him in times of despair. All you have to do is align with him and give him your hands. And, step by step he will lead you and use your hands to bring forth God's Will on earth. Do I need to be a billionaire before knowing my mission? No, all you have to do is to know the opinion of God. Follow and trust his voice. If he has called you to feed the hungry, you can start with what you have. #1000 can buy enough akara for 10 people (100 naira) each to have a great breakfast. #1000 can buy 5 plates of rice you can share as lunch to 5 beggars. As you become faithful in little things, so will God increase your capacity. Brothers and sisters, there's more to life than buying 50 new designer bags, new car, new houses etc for your birthday. While those things are good and important, what is better is using your resources to bring God's Kingdom here on earth by carrying out your mission from God through his Grace and Power. Imagine how wonderful Nigeria would be if just 50% of Christians are in active, selfless missions. While having a child, a job, visa etc may be your testimony here on earth, what testifies for you in heaven is your mission and the number of souls you have touched positively. As you begin to reflect on your mission here on yet, never expect fame, rewards or vain glory here on earth. Let your works be between you and God. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Have you ever seen how Nigerians mob pastors that enter commercial flights? Jeez, imagine Adeboye entering a commercial flight, you will see people shouting daddy, daddy, i have this problem, pls do this for me etc. Even the air hostesses will be all around you like flies. Besides, having a private jet, allows you to travel with better security, peace, and at your own timing. However, what i don't agree with is having more than one jet, like seriously why should a pastor have more than one jet especially in a poor country like ours. That money can be used to build a free maternity hospital that will win more souls for God. However, who am i to judge. They are wearing the shoes, so they know where it is pinching them. O.p, your submissions are correct though your calculations are a bit flawed. They actually rent out those jets daily to cover up maintenance costs and other expenses. Maybe, that's why they own multiple jets to serve as a source of revenue. |

1. The evil people in church come from the devil. A good number of people currently avoid going to church because of sad, past experiences with some terrible people in the church. But, the good news is, Jesus gave this parable more than 2000yrs ago, to describe how evil people always appear in the midst of God's children, and why you should expect them because times never change. What are tares? Tares are plants that look like wheat and are hard to differentiate till the time of harvest. Wherever the carcass is, there the vultures will appear.(Matt 24:28). Wherever the children of God are gathered, there the children of the devil will appear. There's no church in this world that is devoid of evil people. They are in every church, fellowship and gathering of the saints. They were sown by their father while men slept. (matt 13:25). They come with the simple mission to do the will of their father which is to steal, to kill and to destroy( John 10:10). They are the ones, who spread malicious and false gossips and accusations, they steal, they bully, they promote sexual immorality to trap people in lust. They're the ones who come online to insult genuine pastors and they can do anything just to bring shame to the church and make people feel unsafe in church. They appeared in the times of Moses, as Jannes, Jambres ( 2 Tim 3: and the others who insulted Moses in the wilderness,(numb 14) they were there during the days of the apostles, they're present in our own days, even bolder now as they even have their own churches as false prophets, pastors and bishops and they will still be there in the next 100yrs. They may have different appearances but they all have the same goal, to bring disunity to the church and prevent people from going to the church. 2. God knows all that is happening in every church. We serve an omniscient and omnipresent God, from whom no knowledge can be hidden. Don't be dismayed or follow the steps of evil, unrighteous people because it seems God is slow to judge. On the day of judgement, he will bring judgement upon the tares and they will be burnt. 3. Don't stay in a congregation with more tares than wheat. Bad company, they say, corrupts good manners. Never stay in a church with much tares and few wheat. Such churches can't help you grow spiritually. If your church isn't helping you grow spiritually, pray to God about the matter and ask the Holy Spirit to direct you to a church that can build you up. Iron sharpenth iron. Seek a church that will take you along the path of salvation. A church that will help you grow as a born again, Spirit filled believer, a church that will help you produce much fruits in 100s and 1000s while we await the gathering of the wheat into the barn (heaven) of the good sower (Jesus). Remember the wolf always strikes the lone sheep. Decree and declare today, I am a wheat plant in the Lord's farm, no tare can uproot me from the field of my Saviour. I will stay in his field ( under his protection) and produce much grains to the Glory of my sower, while I await the glorious day of his harvest. Amen. Kindly share your inspirations about this parable. Have a Happy sunday. 21 Likes 4 Shares |

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed wheat in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the tares come from?’ 28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the tares and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’” 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Isaac had only one wife Rebecca while Moses had only one wife Zipporah. There are other polygamists but certainly not the ones you mentioned. However, all these people are dear to God but they were not Christians. The christian disposition is to follow the initial rules before Adam fell, one of which include one male one female. |

dontjuststop: dontjuststop:the results will come out positive in your favor. But just a bit of advice from a fellow married person, be mindful of what you absorb from social media so that you don't end up destroying your home. You are just like my mum, you both have what i will call "social media paranoia". You get paranoid from negative stories that trend on social media. if there of 5 different reports of kidnapping on a road, you will avoid it at all cost and get really paranoid if a loved one is going down that route. Stories of rape, killings, war speculations, infidelity, divorce, bad marriages can weigh you down emotionally. Believe me, it's not a good thing for a man to be paranoid by news trends. Negative trends sell more, so expect bloggers to always stuff up the social media space with bad stories. I too once had a bit of it till God saved me. I was once carried away with "feminism" when it was the online trend some years back, i was planning to stop doing my hubby's laundry and discusing sharing chores. Till God saved me and i now understand that every marriage is unique, most people and stories online are fake and liars, many people online are miserable and seeking for who to join them (misery truly loves company) and it's the duty of everyone to treat their spouses with love and respect. For the sake of your wife, marriage and mental health, take a social media break especially twitter (or just stick to newspapers) after the results are out, for at least 2 weeks to detoxify and heal your mentality. Don't mind these single and young ones edging you on. 15 Likes 1 Share |
