Mama hw old is ur baby? How do u my his Moimoi. Tx
over 7months

essentially its same way u do moimoi for adult o. peel n wash d beans, blend it with onions n pepper if u want (tatase or bawa pls not chilli/rodo). you can add skimmed egg yolk and/or blended crayfish (I don't usually do since he takes these in other foods but I'm sure it will make the moimoi richer) add ur vegetable or palm oil. then put it in d leaves for moimoi (I use leaves. u can also use tin or nylon so far they are clean). n cook in a pot with little water for about forty mins. I don't add salt or any seasoning

I usually blend his beans separately from that of everyone else but cook it in same pot as that of the entire family but I mark his so I can recognise it. that way I don't av to cook his separately. I keep d moimoi in freezer n cut out in small bits when needed

hope the info answers ur question

ma'm, lyk wat meal can u miss it with..
I don't actually go with any ideal thing as such. I just try diff things o. first time, I gave him the avocado alone. next time I mixed it with his moimoi. another time with his mashed potatoes. other times with mashed rice. the nice buttery texture most likely makes it much easier for him to swallow his meals. Just my thoughts sha.

Just try it with some of your baby's meals and see what he/she likes.

Pear isn't same thing as avocado, na we Nigerians dey mix am up. U can check Google Image for clarity
whao, its really not the same thing. Thanks.
MiracleMum:
Obviously, baby cant eat an entire avocado even though it's nutritious and has a buttery flavour and texture. It's advisable to mash or puree half the flesh and wrap the other half with the pit still inside to keep it from getting brown. You can also store pureed avocado in ice-cube trays.
Thanks for the tip

This is for mothers that give their kids wheat.
Wheat contains gluten that some people react to it. Wheat forces the pancreas to work so hard because it has a high glycemic index. It has also been found to play a role in autoimmunity.
Wheat is not good for an already established diabetic. But if you don't have Diabetes mellitus, the key word is TEMPERANCE... that is being moderate in all things. Some people are so tied to wheat that they must eat it every day. Besides, it's found in most stuff we eat e.g. biscuits, bread.
you must be in that fbk GRP. I've also learnt a lot. God bless the person that recommended ask the paediatrician on this thread

What do you guys think?
mmh. soya. interesting read. I know soya is good but it seems that there is still no certainty about its effects. some scientists think it can have negative effects. same with wheat cos of its high gluten content.

because of the uncertainty with these foods I prefer to stay away.

Hello all mamas in the house, how are we doing. I know we have all gone through child birth experiences so I know we can relate to what I am to say.
Since I had my baby, I have been feeling some how, I don't know if it's depressed or irritating and my challenge is this. I was naked a lot during my child birth process and a lot of people inserted their hands inside me in the name of checking my cervix. I cringe any time I remember this even as I am typing I am barely holding it together, it's not been easy for me.
After some days I had my baby, I had to go back to the hospital cos I was bleeding profusely, by the way I had a c-section, so I had another dose of being touched and different things been inserted down there to help remove blood clots.
The thing now is I haven't been over this incidences, I feel highly uncomfortable in my own skin, I can't stand being naked, I can't stand not wearing pants, I feel so vulnerable.
As much as I understand that all they did was to safe my life, I just don't get how I feel, I haven't even been able to talk to my husband about it.
I think its OK to feel that way ...its just how u feel. best to discuss with ur husband. I don't know when u gave birth but my guess is that its less than six to eight weeks. just give it time. then focus instead on d bundle of joy that u av. do things that take ur thoughts away from it. its just a phase. it'll pass. over time I believe u will be more comfortable n confident. don't see what happened as an attempt to violate ur privacy just a means to an end. hopefully ur next birth story will be more pleasant. and if u think the health care providers could have done things better u can change ur hospital next time

I mean dt little boil dt shows after taking d vaccine. I can't even c any mark on d place he took d vaccine.
wat we were told at the health centre I use for immunisation is that the mark should show at least though I think it takes a while for that to happen. at the early stage for my baby u kud feel a tiny lump there. we were told it doesn't always develop into pus for all babies o. so no worries if there is no pus. I think after a stipulated period (can't remember how long) if it doesn't show we were asked to bring the baby back for another shot.
just confirm from ur community health worker. the professionals here may be able to help

I need to rant, I want to rant...I want to scream, I want to cry. My baby do not sleep if I don't dance with him for at least 30 minutes, if I try to sit,he would scream and cry his eyes out and then he will sleep for like 10minutes only for him to wake up and then the dancing cycle starts again from the top. we do this for about 3 times before he finally settles to sleep. My back and my stitches aches like crazy cos he has started this at 4weeks and he is almost 7weeks now. Infact, a part of my stitches got opened and I know the culprit is cos I carry him to sleep. Please how can I help him sleep, I have tried putting him in a rocker, tried to place him down and pacify him to sleep nothing is working and I am feeling really worn out. HELP!!!
Pele. weldon . some babies don't just sleep easily but the good part is that they change. my baby too could be that way. sometimes he changes n sleeps well. long and on some days its no sleep n all crankiness.

just keep trying ur best: sing, rock, back, rock on ur arms, or shoulder. amazingly even telling a story could work while rocking. u might also want to ensure that d place where u are putting ur baby to sleep is quiet n also reduce lightning. these generally help mine to sleep.

In the US, Mothers are moving more towards the way your grandmother did it: exclusively breastfeeding till 2 years of age, unmedicated birth at home with midwives, wearing your baby, natural organic living and cloth diapering, sleeping on the bed with your baby and all sorts. When i met some, they assumed since i was "from Africa" smiley I would be a champion at all that. They were surprised to hear that we over here are moving to disposables and weaning quickly and cots grin They feel that the natural way is better.

The way one reacted to hearing I was supplementing with formula, you'd have thought I was drinking gin and feeding my baby some. Well, let's see how it goes in Naija, I will post my routine then.
.

my sister there s nothing new in this world o .this life Na cycle. d way we go back to old school things n it becomes a fad n class in our days. like clothin, hair styles, g ofada rice etc. we used to copy these oyinbo pple cos we thought all those modern things were d vogue &our ways backward n archaic. now they av realised the good in natural things and are advocating it. I was also surprised at all d crunchy n natural birth etc champions in US. didn't think such could be in such a place and here are we in naija trying to do everything foreign.

Twins are 5 months today.
For about four days now the babies changed. Their poo changed, they were running temp on the head at night, they were not feeding well, and had cough and catarrh. I gave them syrups for the cough and cold, and pcm for d high temp.

I was already thinking of taking them to the hospital iF no improvement, then yesterday night twin boy brought my finger and bit me and that's when I felt it. Teeth!!! I checked and saw two rising teeth! I died and rose again out of excitement but at d back of my mind I was like *my niipple go hear am from now on. grin I quickly dipped my hand into twin girl's mouth to check hers too. No teethed but her gums were swollen and hot. I felt sorry for her. So I've been putting napkins in the fridge for them to chew on to ease the pains of teething. Ill watch closely today and tomoro and decide whether to still take them.
haha....its a joy to see them achieve a major milestone. and to think its happening at almost same time. Weldone mama twins

No, I don't add egg yolk. I boil an egg separately, take off d white and then feed her d yolk. I don't add formula/milk either. She doesn't like it. Any airtight container will do but I don't get what u mean by watery when kept in d freezer? Why would u want to freeze it? I haven't tried dat option though but I once tried d room temp thingy and it didn't stay fresh for long.

There's a special small pot I keep handy for her food but sometimes converted to other uses wen d need arise.
thanks a lot. tried pap with formula for him today n he took it well. at least for a first timer. I'd add crayfish once I see that this goes with his sys.

I personally stir fry first befor blending. And then store in a glass container in the refridgerator. I make a batch that lasts an average of one month and it stays fresh.
On adding d crayfish, I usually add it after preparing the pap and cooled down a bit. I don't stir in the crayfish at once after adding. I place on a part of d pap in d plate and then stir in bits while feeding. I do this becos I noticed after stirring in the whole lot and left to stand for a while, it makes d pap have a watery consistency. I don't know why, maybe d salty nature of d crayfish.
So I stir little by little from d corner while feeding simultanoeusly. I dunno if u get me wish I could upload a pic so u can see
thanks a lot. I really appreciate ur response. was wondering if no one will reply. do u add egg yolk too? n milk right? I intend keeping the crayfish in an air tight plastic container. would that be OK? I'm guessing a freezer will make the crayfish watery. so is it OK if I keep it at room temp?

finally do u use a diff pot for preparing ur baby's food? or can I use d one I use for the entire house?

waiting for ur response pls
HealthRe: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by joyousf: 3:49pm On Aug 02, 2015
mamas that add crayfish to their baby's pap how do u prepare the crayfish n store it. I think i once read here that one should stir fry it a little to ensure its dry n then blend. is this OK?
after grinding will it be OK to just leave it at room temp or it has to b in d freezer?
at what stage of cooking the pap does one add the crayfish.
I'm also guessing d pap should not be too thick

in short my baby s stopping exclusive n I want to start introducing pap . cereal n formula sabi mamas I need advice o.

Not all babies react to milk. From your post, your baby does not react to milk. Had it been she does your doc would have advised you to stop completely. Eat enough fruits and vegetables
I don't know what u mean by babies reacting to the mother's milk intake. what most people complain about is gas. my baby had it. even cry sometimes before passing gas. my paed didn't ask me to stop taking milk. just that it will pass

My 4months baby poos 4-5 times in a day for abt one week now. Pls is it normal?
Is the baby on any drugs like antibiotics? cos antibiotics can have that side effect on some babies. If that is the cause once the baby stops taking it, it will stop.

Or did u introduce any formula or food? check that as well. it could also be an infection. it's not okay for ur baby to poo so much o. water na the major constituent of their body. U can give him/her ORS to help restore d water and electrolytes lost. Take the baby to see the doctor asap just to be sure things are ok
