Hello Queen mama, please I need a sample hubby consent letter..please can you help me? Thanks. Goodmorning family trust we all doing great. Queenmama03: Omo my story long oo! But i'll just go straight to the point.
First time applicant, self sponsored although I finished with a first class in economics, I have a 10yr study gap so I wasn't sure how that played out. Going for Masters in Economics at UNB. I'm employed and also have a side business I registered last year. Previous travel to US and Turkey. I wrote GRE, applied and got admission myself but when it came to visa application my liver failed me. That was where Frank (God bless his soul) came to my rescue. Timeline:
Applied 22nd Apr Vfs biometric 26th Apr Eligibility & background check started 4th May (may have been earlier but after applying I didn't check the portal until this date) Upfront Medical done 4th May Medical E-Slip uploaded 6th May Biometrics Updated 6th May (I had to email them a reminder) Medical Passed 7th May Ghost update 4th June Sent renewed passport & unconditional acceptance letter via webform 8th June Agreement prayer with husband when I noticed April applicants getting their decisions 16th June Ghost update 16th June BVL & PPR 21st June
Regarding ghost updates, I may have had more but I only check my portal once or max twice a week on average so I can't really say. Also I didn't pay school fees o, not even deposit. The Ijebu in me didn't let me part with my money before visa approval also my school didn't make it compulsory.
Document submitted Transcripts SOP GRE IELTS MBS & regular account statement (First bank doesn't have MBS so I just submitted the regular statement and included introduction letter from the bank) WAEC Certificate Degree certificate Employment letter Introduction letter from employer Study leave approval letter Consent letter from my husband We both indicated that my mum will be taking care of my kids in my absence Husband's employment letter and work related documents ID's of my parents and siblings
Hmm the waiting wasn't funny o especially when I see the type of document people submit here, at some point I felt I may not have submitted enough. I just told myself "las las if dem deny my application i'll just focus on my business''. But alas! God did it. Also special thanks to @Lekiboboe his posts really guided me when I was searching for graduate programs.
To all those still waiting, I wish you the very best, God willing it will end the praise.
signing out.
PS: If you dey go New Brunswick please hit me up make we reason one or two. |

SamUnai: SHOULD I RELOCATE OR STAY PS: This is a personal View as a PR in Canada I will do my best to give an honest view . LONG POST HOW IT STARTED. January 4th, 2016 I resumed like every other colleague, after the morning prayers and HNY wishes, i realized I could not sign-in into my system. I tried all I could but no way and as a banker with 4 years experience we all know what that means. SACK. As usual my BM called me in and I wrote my resignation letter (reason why bank do this, is what I don’t know). I gather my few things and left before leaving my BM also mentioned to me that it was not because of under performance but rather is due to the fact that I don’t have BSC but HND. I told him no wahala with my eyes filled with tears left his office. What a way to start the year. Around 5PM that same day a senior colleague called me and asked if I was free (them don sack me what else could I be doing) I told him I was free and he asked me to meet him up at restaurant . I didn’t want to go at first cus I suspected it will be one of those sermon of you know sack is not the end of life but I sha manage to go. Before he started talking to me , he brought out his BB and showed me a picture of his passport with the Canadian VISA. In my mind hope this Benin man doesn’t want to tell me about abroad cus and not interested. Then he asked quietly have you heard about Canada express entry I said no. what of Canadian PR I said no boss. Then he said do you know you are very lucky with this your HND? Me? How?, he went further to explain the whole process to me stage by stage, how I will get more point with this my HND , At this point he has started to arouse my interest , then he went further to tell me the benefit of a Canadian PR , I was still trying to arrange everything he just said in my head when baba showed me his flight details ahh he is traveling next month oo in fact he said he want to do VAL in Canada with his family. You need to see the ginger in my body I drove home.
IELTS Wrote once and passed LRWS 8877.5(practiced for 4weeks morning afternoon evening and night. No job so that was my work at that time. OTHER STAGES. It was very easy from WES-ITA-PCC-MED-AOR-PR-COPR. It was straight forward. It took 4 months and 2weeks from AOR-PR. (Those days we don’t bother about VO just submit and leave it in the hands of God). PR -18TH August 2016 CORP-10TH September 2016
D DAY TO TRAVEL. I arranged my bags, mumsy don pray for me already, I woke up early that morning and prayed my rosary then cab man show as planned and it was straight to the airport. I started feeling somehow oo while at the airport, all my enthusiasm vanished, fear began to set in if relocating was the right thing to do. But I quickly waved it off and located my gate. I landed in Toronto at exactly 11:40am on the 16th of November 2016 via ET air. Nothing really fascinating about the flight. I watched movies, ate what they gave us and slept majority of the time
ARRIVAL On the day of arrival, we landed successfully , I asked questions on where to go and peeps over here were ready to assist with a smile (in my mind I said e be like say the place go good oo) did documentation and register for SIN, I was asked if I came with my whole POF , I told her I came with little but will wire the rest once am settled , she said ok and Welcome to Canada(in my mind again so this woman nu even reason weda I dey lie or talk true hmmmm). I got to the Air Canada desk to collect boarding pass only for them to tell me that flight to Calgary where am headed just left( in my mind I screamed MY FATHER MY FATHER) before I could say anything she said calmly ,Don’t worry we will reschedule you for the next flight to YYC.¬(WHICH ONE BE YYC AGAIN) her colleague saw my face and quickly said Calgary . Waited for 3hrs before the next flight. During this period of waiting I started thinking about my life again, the airport is so Big and clean plus free wifi(that is fast ooo). We sha left and we arrived in Calgary around 9 or 10pm can’t remember. That my colleague that told me about the process was waiting for me. We moved straight to his apartment, and the wife gave me a hot sweet pepper jollof rice and chicken . I had my bath and slept. The next day I opened account and did some few things (no big deal with does stuff)
JOB HUNTING. I applied for all sort of job and opening this was the advice I got from that my boss. After 4days which was on a Tuesday a security firm sent me a mail for an online interview via skype , during the interview(for naija na interrogation we they do nu be interview) the man said he can see from my resume that I did some course in Health Safety and environment ( you know that HSE 1,2 and 3 Course that we did during NYSC na for those of us hoping to get oil job, ehen na that course I dey talk,) I said yes and he asked politely if I will rather like to work as a safety officer (like I get choice) I said I don’t mind and he went further to say that is 3 dollar/hr higher in pay than the security officer but I will have to undergo some training if am chosen ( at this point I know say them don collect me)Gbam the Evening of that day I got a success mail(Na so e dey fast?). From this point I moved to other job, to another job, until my current job which I have done for about a year plus. PS: When coming to Canada ehh please come with every certificate you have I beg you because you don’t know the one that will open that door for you even that SAED for NYSC come with am, those short course/training you did in your office come with the certificate abeg. You might get a lot of blue collar jobs at first please accept the once you can do and hit the ground running. The goal is not to spend more than 20% of your POF and Save the rest.
HEALTH CARE, I have little to say here as hardly visit the Hospital except for the time my wife gave birth last year, my brother we were treated like VIPs oo had to ask and I was told our insurance covered every,I was also told that’s how everybody is treated . Hospital so Clean like 5 star hotel, smells nice, doctors and nurse smiling, I even met one naija lady self nurse Adaobi . See gifts na, from the hospital to colleagues o to my wife office people. It was amazing. Leave was close to 35weeks or so.
RENT Cut your coat according to your material and not size. There is also nothing serious about this too, if you are prudent and know where you are coming from , you can pay for your rent and utility monthly and even have some change. We moved into our own apartment (mortgage) early this year before the Covid-19 wahala.
TRANSPORTATION. There is a large transportation network that encompasses everywhere ranging from Buses to Trains. There is also an app for it, it contains routes and timetable of movement. Plus fare is very cheap. I think is $3 for one way or so. Haven’t uses in a while.
COST OF LIVING IN CANADA (Calgary) The cost here is relatively fare compare to other province. the rent is also not too expensive , is usually between 1k for a condo to 2500 for a 4bedroom. Shopping is also relatively fare with 200-300 dollar you can shop for everything you need within the month. The basic thing is that irrespective of what you earn as a new comer combine with at least 50% of you POF you should be ready to hit the ground running and in no time you can return that POF back to your saving account. So as a starter as we call them in my office, $1500 should be enough to get u going (min wage in Alberta still ranges from $14-$18/hr)
SOCIAL LIFE. Here is a bit boring sha if you are already used to the naija Lagos life. But you can make it happen it you choose to and also have the time.
CONCLUSION. You will need to ask yourself some questions. Is this what I want, what kind of life do I want my children to have, if am not a VERY RICH man can they attend good schools here? or even have good health care, if I don’t have connection or know people in high places after my BSC or Masters can I at least get a decent job? If for example my parents don’t have money to sent me to college\university will the government give me a grant to go to school?. If I come to work one morning and i have been sacked is there an employment insurance that can cover me before I secure another job?. With this my current job and pay can I at least get a decent car or how many years do I need to save so I can’t get a house of my own(even doh is via mortgage ). If they kidnap any member of my family, will the total money I have saved be enough for the ransom?. If anything happens to me today, what becomes of my wife and children?. If I want to iron your cloths do i need to pray to God for electricity?, If I continue on this job in this country will I ever break even if I don’t steal or go into prostitution (that is self sustainability). Some folks will tell you that you have to work for every penny you spend and I ask them how else do you intend to get a penny if you don’t work, but they fail to tell you that for everything you pay for you get 100% value or won’t you rather want to have a passport/status that allows you travel to other countries without so much fear of Visa denial Finally it is also true that the main reason is not to come and make money but to live a sane life, Now this is me telling you that if you work diligently, going for what you need instead of what you want, be prudent especially when you just arrive, in no distant time you will drive that nice car you see on TV and move into your own house, you know why? Canada rewards hard working people. NOTE: You are free to ask me any question and I will answer. Also pardon the typos. Once again this is my OWN experience. This is also my first post although i usually visit here when am less busy at work and I will say I love the commitment and effort you guys put just to get it right .Wooowwwww.....Congrats bro n more blessings to your family.. I just found myself reading this post again....seeing me in the post n writing it...smiles.....Thanks for sharing..j see God granting us all our canny dreams...Amen |

WeAreDLucky1s: JUST TO SAY THANK YOU
I want to thank you all for your kinds words of support, congratulations and the "Likes".
I am still waiting for the Golden Mail, and as I have promised, I will surely give a lenghty and detailed write-up for the Testimony soon as the Eagle lands.
Also, just to spice things up, the next day after the first CSE, I raised another asking specifically for the current stages in my application and the below was the response;
Your application meets the eligibility requirements under the immigration program for which you have applied,
The background verifications are currently valid. The security background verification is currently valid. The criminal background verification is currently valid.
· Your application is currently being processed at the Case Processing Centre (CPC-O) in Ottawa, Ontario.
I read that once you have all "Valid" (as above) - Then, this is a strong indication that you've been cleared and Review completed - PPR next.
I will be posting some useful tips for post-AOR and I hope this help those in the pool and others in the future.
How to know your Visa Office (VO) post AOR - Raise a CSE/Webform. 1) Fill in all your application details 2) Ask/Tell them specifically what you would like to know in clear terms e.g which visa office is processing your application, application status, specific details (Eligibilty, Background check, Security etc.) or to update them on something new concerning your application (birth, job, location etc) 3) They will usually respond within a week. 4) Use the link below
https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx
And, to those who are yet/about to submit, please make your application correct and concise - That is, keep it simple but complete.
So, once again bro and sis, thank you.
I hope this is helpful. And, I'll like to thank you for reading. Wow......See Me Blushing and Smiling Oh..like say na me they post this wonderful Goodnews mail....Omo PPR SURE AND STAMPED ALREADY..JUST GET UR PASSPORTS READY FOR DHL...CONGRATS AHEAD...I TRUST GOD I WILL SURELY TESTIFY ON THIS FORUM...AT LEAST WITH ITA FIRST..LOLZ..(been on this journey for awhile but with few setbacks n delays..but trust moi...I'm not not Giving Up..Never...because All My Body n Soul they Canny Already....WE ALL MUST TESTIFY IN JESUS NAME..AMEN |

I'm paying $6000 as tuition this session in school while my class mates who are international students pay $20,000+...the difference in fees for a year alone would cover the EE process (just saying....walks out)
PS: Canada govt grant pays off almost 90% of this amount and it's like I'm not paying for anything, by the way! Wow..Thanks bro for the divine intervention and conclusion as I see it and this I do explain to most close friends and families who consult me but you know few of our naija oversabi, they will argue with you and later find out the hard truth... This is part 1 of my testimony, watch out for the full story and my PPR story in part 9 of this thread . OMG !!! It feels so surreal... I have been waiting for this mail longingly like a deer panting for water. I just couldn't wait to have it so badly that it became a need but I learnt what it means to be hopeful in the IRCC school of patience.
Honestly, I thought this long wait would dampen my spirit and kill every form of excitement but I was wrong. Just look at me checking my mail and smiling since I saw it. This feeling is sweet....
Pure gratitude!!!

A journey that was first perceived in 2016 began in earnest in 2018.
March 2018, we lost our twin girls few days after birth due to hospital inadequacies. It was the saddest day of our lives but it was the push we needed to resurrect the desire to migrate. After a heart to heart discussion, we made up our minds and drew a list of all that had to be done and how we were going to tackle each of them.
Few months after (2018), we were ready to try. We took the whole process a step at a time, choosing to start with the ECA. I sent my certificates for evaluation in July.....got it in Oct, 2018. I used WES. The delay was 'cos WES said they had sent my documents to school for verification while school claimed not to have seen it. Many thanks to my younger sister who did the running around to ensure it got sorted out. Let me not even talk about how much was spent sending the initial transcript and for verification stage. Hubby had 2 degrees so we evaluated both with ICES.
We had previously planned to write ECA in August. On the day we were to make payment, hubby suddenly had cold feet...lol..we finally attempted IELTS in October, the 27th to be precise and our scores were as follows;
PA's score: L-8.5,R-8,W-7.5,S-8
Mine: L-8.5, R-8.5, W-8, S-8
We spent hours practicing listening and reading daily but didn't bother with writing or speaking....we just believed we would be fine....
Then came speaking day, you see; I thought I knew how to speak English so I didn't practice or read up. I was just too confident that speaking was a no-brainer, if only I knew it was laughing at me. I had thought up all kinds of dramatic topics and felt I could handle them, you can imagine how shocked I was when the examiner said "talk to me about sports". Simple? yeah....but to me it was a tough one (In my mind I was like, who gives such an unladylike topic to a lady? If you know me, I am not a sports fan..)
As expected..I couldn't talk for more than a minute in part 2....honestly, I am not even sure I talked up to a minute. The examiner gave me all kinds of cues to keep talking, at a point she was tapping her desk. Me, I was staring at her anya anya (blankly)..So tey, the examiner asked me "Do you have friends that like or play sports?"...and when I answered "No", she had this look of "no wonder". Ah!..egbami..I was telling myself na so my money take go?
Part 3 speaking came and the examiner started bombarding me with questions...the woman no gree leave this sports topic o....talk to me about sports and entertainment, talk to me about sports and branding, talk to me about amateur sports etc.. God being so good, my brain started booting..over booting sef...I surprised myself here, was even giving examples(all thanks to my ex-colleagues in the office who wouldn't stop talking about football).
Trust na, I stuck to football in my speaking. How I knew amateur sports had to do with sports at grassroot level amazes me till date....smiles..I even remembered Kano pillars, Heartland of Owerri, Rashidi Yekini...ah, I try mehn. (Emi o gberaga o but let me praise myself small o jare). I think she actually enjoyed the chat 'cos she couldn't seem to stop asking me questions and according to those who were to do the speaking test after me, I stayed in the room longer than the other test takers who went in before me. Maybe Madam examiner was trying to understand how one could go from almost mute to extremely chatty on same topic. See ehn, the thought of having to write the exam again will make you want to put in your best to possibly ace it once. My consolation: I only needed a 7 in speaking. Gratefully, we wrote ielts once and both aced it then opted for hubby to be the PA.
We gladly dived into the pool with crs score 455 and clinched ITA on January 10, 2019. Like play, like play, it was getting real.
I hurriedly sent a mail to Qlife and IOM, Qlife gave us a date in March while Feb 4 was available in IOM so we opted for the latter.
Medicals at IOM was okay and we were able to do PCC same day. We spent close to a month taking our time to ensure we got all documentation in place and finally submitted our application on Feb 5, 2019 (a day after medicals).
Here's our timeline:
ITA: Jan 10, 2019
AOR: Feb 5, 2019
MEP: March 20, 2019
BIL: March 22, 2019
IP2: immediately after BIL
Raised GCMS in August, yet to get it
Ghost Update: September 11, 2019 (AM)
PPR: Sept 11, 2019 (PM)
Family Size: 3
By the time we made up our minds to start this journey, any idea to leave was a welcome one to my husband and I. Alas, we didn't have much savings left and as a man, he was worried about how we were going to foot the bill for all required to make Canada a reality. I wasn't really bothered, I was convinced we were making the right decision so on my knees, I took it to God in prayers and he did his thing, voilà my Mum came through for us.
You see ehn, my Mum is my greatest supporter. She believes in all my dreams and is always ready to partner with me. She is simply amazing. When she heard of the decision to migrate, she was excited. It had always been her desire for me to leave the country. On phone, she asked me to make a list of all the steps we had to take, put the sum by the side and send to her via whatsapp. This amazing woman took care of 70% without being asked to. Then came POF and my sweet sister in-law stepped in. Isn't God Awesome?
Proof of funds was 100% gift deed from my sister in-law. She wrote a love note stating that she was gifting the money to us and signed the letter. We did not notarize the letter, neither was it stamped at the court. We attached 3 days statement of account (of our joint account) showing the day we received the gift and the day it was fixed, fixed deposit letter, pension fund statement of account and reference letter (to cushion the effect of currency fluctuations) clearly stating the access to 25% part.
Another cause for headache was Job reference as my husband's employers said they do not give the reference letter in CIC format to current staff and as he was not resigning till we had ppr, we made do with the generic letter to the embassy which they provided, offer letter, promotion letters, appreciation letters, one month statement of account from his salary account showing inflow of salary, reference letter in A4 paper written and signed by a senior colleague with the colleague's office I'd card attached bearing his email and phone number, in fact everything we could find to prove work experience was attached and submitted. Luckily he had worked in same company for over 7years. Then began the journey to PPR.
One beautiful morning, while discussing with Wasseynewest, in his words he said " login and check your application...if you see sey you no do one part well, quickly raise CSE before them start your R10 check". After the call, I logged in and took my time to check all I had submitted and uploaded, yours truly uploaded a PDF version of my son's passport photograph as against the required format...na snap, crop and convert cause am o......CSE to the rescue (was not sure if this was an issue but I wasn't taking chances).
Again, I realised we put my husband's job level and job generic title in our application while his promotion letter had just his job level.. In his work place, his job title has the word "Manager" attached to it but he is not a Manager in the real sense and another name given for his job level. I quickly raised another CSE attaching an LOE explicitly explaining this, his work complimentary card and his employee data page showing the level and title were also attached..as I no wan hear story. Please try and be very clear in your application, make officer no out of confusion refuse am.
Around this time, my passport had less than 6months to expire....I seized the opportunity to do a change of name(newspaper publication), court affidavit and all, then headed to passport office, Abeokuta. After capturing, I was told it would take at least 3weeks for it to be out...see me praying to God to now delay PPR small so I can get my new passport, submit and have the name changed on my application before they issue PPR. This was done and submitted via cse, few days later the change was effected on our application.
Then I noticed my Sister in-law made a mistake in the year on the gift deed. She put 2014 as against 2019...hah....we entered kabashing mode and prayed for God to blind the eye of those reviewing our app to the error...as we didn't see it before submitting, may they also overlook it when reviewing. Iseeee!!!. (Please dont be like me o, guess I was just trying not to raise too many cse's as we had submitted statement of account showing the funds and an investment letter initially)
As God take love me so, he answered my prayers, ah...he over-answered sef as Ottawa went to sleep after effecting the name change...lol. The wait is not easy I must confess..you put a call through and you are told criminality has been passed, you call a month after...nothing new, 2 months after, same...yet everything is okay with your file...hmmm... I had been strong all along, encouraging people to hang in there and wait it out but one faithful day, I broke down in tears (thanks to Mum2dbelovd for pulling me out of that mood)...with PPR in our mailbox, I can only look back and smile. I remember being asked if I could handle or work under pressure in the interviews I attended in the past..as usual na, I said yes and explained. Honestly, I think I lied then o because ordinary PPR wait pressure and I crumbled.
Funny, my husband said he never saw me worry about our application he didn't know I had wonderful support system as friends. Guess I didn't want him adding application worries to the stress he encounters at work (if I don't take care of my man, who will?♀️..lol).
I give all thanks to God who started this project and completed it ..."for my hallelujah belongs to you, my hallelujah belongs to you...you deserve it" (singing).
This story will not be complete without me mentioning names of nairaland friends turned family who were there for me and also people who helped make this journey worthwhile.
To Wasseynewest, who became my Gee you know where. Thanks for always picking up when I was worried and excited. My gist partner. God bless you for being you.
To Edechlo, my sister and prayer warrior. Thanks for always rekindling the fire in me. May God grant all your heart desires.
To Mumtothebeloved, my ever stable friend with a good heart. You made me laugh a lot in this journey. May God make you laugh always. I heart you Sis.
To Petrichor....thanks for acting as a big sister in this journey and always being there for me. May you never lack helpers.
To Je'mappelle Ramj, thanks for all the assistance you rendered to me in the journey, may you be highly rewarded and may Canada favour you greatly.
To Mumayo, Girl..you made me proud. Thanks for not letting me rest even when I was officially tired of you...May your journey to PPR be smooth.
To DrCynthia, thanks for always answering my enquiries even when you were extremely busy. God bless you.
I am eternally grateful for the wealth of information I garnered on Nairaland for this journey. God bless you
It's your gal,

To the gods that man the gates, To the gates that guard the cities. To the cities that grounds its peoples, To the people that long for freedom. The almighty, the All knowing, the All rulling God is merciful and just to grant us grace and ridiculous favor.
I have fallen a thousand times, I have failed a million times, Lessons learnt is theory, Useless without His mercies.
They say thomas Edison failed a thousand times and became successful after the last try in inventing the incandescent light bulb. Without the mercies of God, he would fail a thousand more.
I have found him in the highest of places but he found me in the lowest of places. I have acknowledged him in my joyous state yet he remembered me in my deepest depression.
I reiterate the popular declaration, He is greater than the greatest, Stronger than the strongest, Wiser than the wisest.
He has established and blessed me like the trees planted by the riverside, like the cedar of lebanon, bearing fruits in its season. He has not just blessed me but extended it to my household.
Habba father...
The British Council of elders have raised their standards but my God raised another, far beyond their imagination.
Habba father..
He has filled me most in my emptiest state.
7 IELTS TESTs and I don't even know where the mental, emotional or even financial strength came from.
6 EORs and I don't know who gave me the guts and courage. I know it's not me.
Habba father, Ha, since april 2017, Habba father, To September 2019.
Habba father, brought gold to my door step before the little silver I have is threatened.
All of a sudden, all stars align and bow to your word...
What advice can a man who has failed 7 times or even more give to the people that seek victory.
Look onto God, the author and finisher of our faith.
Clock still ticking but He has shown His face. Emmanuel, I have seen his grace.

I was so depressed that I even requested a remark for the 9 in listening. I don't wanna know how all components changed or how there was a full band change in 2 component(even in the reading which is supposed to be objective). I no wan know.
To the ielts tutors that listened to my cry here on this thread. @Wasseynewest, @ Johnnybravo, @Topsmamen, @Ladymarshall, @dumprep (she told me my moniker was gonna change to teeieltsaced lol), @4wearegreat, @joo2018, @Ifeoma77, Ha, good people dey here. And a very good friend Hope, she inspired my writing, I don't know ur moniker but I know you would see this. I pray you all fulfill your destiny on this earth and beyond.
Words said, Praise be to jah, Back to the grind, Make I try contain the vex wey I get for my employer cus right now, the anger won double. It would end in praise in Jesus name. Wow..Big Congrats on your high determination and optimistic heart..Seriously I'm so humbled each time I see and read Multiple TestTakers who never gave up no matter the undesired scores. it's obvious these two bodies have hidden agenda on most test markings and scores. I'm hoping to rewrite my 2nd attempt soon. But I got a very positive knowledge from a recent aced test testimony of getting a Positive EOR from MOD, by sending or copying their Australia Office the EOR email and getting a speedy response and Upgraded score. Let's All Try and Maximise this added action during MOD EOR. |

wisdom4today: Celebrating little victories. . . .
My efamily,
Join me to thank God oooooo!
I just collected my IELTS results. I wrote on 17th August with MOD.
I have been afraid about the bad experiences from many previous test takers. And that's one of the reasons I have hindered my spouse to come to this Nairaland group as she would be also writing this Saturday.
This is my first and last attempt oooo!
L : 8
R: 7.5
W: 7.0
S: 7.5
Overall band : 7.5
My materials:
I used IELTS Liz YouTube videos for my speaking , listening and writing tips. I also used Jay and Chris ( IELTS advantage ) videos for my writing.
As for reading, I just did a lot of practice using Cambridge 12 and 13 only.
Also for speaking, before the exam I wrote down and practiced over 20 cue card topics on a variety of subjects. It helped a lot during the test as several questions were about what I already practiced. I was just flowing and the examiner enjoyed the conversation we had.
I must say that the key to this exam is practice. Practice using Cambridge material. If you do well in the Cambridge tests you are bound to do well in the real exam.
In writing test, I started with task 2 and spent more time in task 2.
I also tried to proof read my work after writing.
Also, after writing, I used my eraser to clean and replace many key ways with different but similar words in order to show the examiner my wide grammatical range. Please do this with caution ooo. Don't use any word that you are not sure about the spelling!
Appreciation:
I want to thank every member of this group and expecially wasseynewest. I was also part of his Whatsapp reading group before he moved Canada. God bless him for his efforts.
What lies ahead:
I expect to get my ECA from IQAS next month ( I sent my doc's to them since April/May this year ).
I pray that the good Lord will continue to help each and every one of us at various stages of this journey IJN. Amen.
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step."
Congrats bro.. thumbs up... God's Grace on the rest of your journey. |

freeradical: I think the fact that only one draw was done in June helped speed up the current processing of eAPRs. June AORs are especially lucky as they seem to be benefiting most due to d speed at which their files have moved. If this momentum is improved or sustained I see most June AORs getting PPR in 8weeks or less.
Another theory I have to explain dis new trend could be that maybe there is an executive order to give more priority to FSW-outland applications over other streams. CEC stream used to have the fastest processing time but now it takes at least 2 months for them to even pass medicals. A lot of CEC applicants are seriously complaining to CIC because they are used to faster processing times but the response from CIC to them is not to expect medicals passed in less than 2 months. On the other hand I got medicals passed in just 23 days post AOR and several other FSW-OUTLAND applicants as well.
Probably the govt needs the influx of fresh economic migrants over those already inland. Imagine the amount of money we are going to carry to Canada as POF and what it will do to their economy. Then in the long run comes the real value which is our skills and how we will impart positively on the nation's production of goods and services. Everybody wins in the end. These are really interesting times.
May God bless our Canada dreams. Ameennnnnnnn.....Congrats to all the PPRs in the house..I'm excited as I know We All going to share our goodness in this journey. |

perks: I did more of listening practice on YouTube. For all others it was mainly ieltsliz.com and ielts buddy.com.
Read explanations on each test module so u understand Wat to look out for.
Also, make use of the free British council materials u get access to wen u register for d test. Listen to videos of the ielts examiners explaining d test. I found it useful.
For d exam, write ur answers in Capital letters. Warning: dis is for Listening & Reading ONLY
All d best
*Modified* Wow,congrats bro...but pls as regards the "CAPITAL LETTERS", must our answers really be in it? Becos I wrote some in capitals and some in lowercase.? Could this have an effect on my results?. |

ssemire: Hello and greetings from Alberta Canada. For oil jobs, your destination should be Fort McMurray which is a town, compared to Calgary. Living in FortMc is relatively more expensive due to the fact that the wage is usually higher than the average. This because the oil sands is located in FortMc.
It is a lot easier and cheaper to cook at home as u can be sure that the time you get home is pretty predictable.
I landed at Calgary intl airport and i didn't take too long at the immigration desk.
You might have a difficult time spending money here initially because you will be converting to naira. Just breathe.
Don't be afraid to do any form of legal job for starters. It might not be at par with your naija level, but trust me anything to get your canadian experience. Please volunteer if you have to as it also counts as part of your experience.
Make use of YMCA or any other immigrant settling/serving org.
Whew..........i think i've tried. You might not get an immediate answer from me if you have other questions. But if i am able, i will drop further comments. Congrats bro,how you adapting to life over there.Work,Weather,Family,etc.Pls continue to keep us posted ok.By Gods Grace We All Going to Make it and land there soonest.. Pls did u study at uni of Salford,UK? Saw your recent post and was wondering? I did and set of 2012/13. Cheers. |

ssemire: Hello guys. Trust you all are doing well. Welcome to the best time of the year......summer time.
I said before that I stay in fort mcmurray though my desire is to move to Calgary.
Is there a way one gets proper job meaning full time and no weekends. Cos all I seem to see here are part time jobs with minimum wage and no benefits.
@salford why do I have a feeling I know you. Did you school at university of Salford UK? hmm....bros did u say university of Salford Uk? Wot year did u graduate?mine was 2013?Cheers. |
