bellong: This is a short advice for new arrivals and everyone alike. I believe everybody knows that on arrival, you register on ATO website for Tax File Number (TFN) very important else you will be charged maximum tax. You should get it in the post within 1-2 weeks. 2. Register with Medicare and you will be given a temporary card till the permanent is posted within two weeks. Go to centrelink and register for the Family Tax benefits (which includes rent assistance) if you are married with child/children and Child care benefits. Even if you are not married, still register with them. For every other benefits, there is a-104 week waiting period before being entitled to them. For further read, check human services website or google centrelink.
3. Have a plan of what you want to do on arrival. Yes, you can get any job to pay the bills initially but don't just sit on it if it is not what you want to do. No matter how long it takes, keep applying for that particular position you want, along the line you will learn how to improve the quality of your application. If you are considering a career change, don't jump in with bandwagon who will advise you to study Nursing. There are so many good courses to study aside Nursing. Let your motivation be interest and passion. Good thing is you get to pay domestic fee and can pay on installment. Make sure you have a plan when you arrive and follow it through.
4. For utilities, compare the prices of all providers and choose the best (cheapest) to save cost. You can get unlimited broadband for as low as $60/month. You can also get an android TV box on ebay for $50 upward depending, it is what I use to watch live matches and all movies. Though I got a foxtel, I am doing away with it. The box only needs an internet and you have world of entertainment before you.
5. Every state does what is called homestay program for international students. If you have a spare room in your house, you can register with the department for education in your state to host international students. South Australia pays host $250/week, I have no idea of other states. Your only obligation is to feed them and make them feel at home. If it is something you want to do, you can join the program to save cost and make little change.
6. Networking is one of the easiest ways to get job. You will be surprised how connection get people jobs without going through the rigours of job application. Network with people in your field and it could be one of the best things for you.
Will update when I have more reasonable advice.. Thanks so much Sir for your Counsel,Advice and Quality Information to Us....Well Noted. Thanks n God bless u. |

bigfido: Guys, always let your spouse evaluate their degree and write Ielts. the both of you should have seperate express entry profile with your spouse's details included in your application. It is not a sin... then pursue PNP differently. Someone i know just got nomination from the wife's profile even thou her CRS score was 319. she has the technique the province was looking for (new brunswick). Let's be wise about it Thanks bros for this Advice as I was about asking the house on it. But what I need know is how both couples would present their POF? Will they use Joint Bank details or Personal? I hope u understand my question. Thanks |

dupyshoo: This is the estimate of what it cost my family:
Myself WES - C$233.91 IELTS - £150 Transcript (2 Universities) - £20 +N10,000 PCC (2 countries) - £45 + N6,000
Spouse IELTS - £150 PCC (2 countries) - £45 + N9,000
Medicals (Family of 3) - £780 Application (family of 3) - C$2230 Total - £1190 + C$2463.91 +N25,000 (approximately N1,042,476)
Yours will probably be a lot cheaper as your application fee will be about C$1000 and medicals done in Naija are a lot cheaper. It should be about N400,000. Please note that this does not include flight ticket and the cost of sending your passport via DHL or VFS. You might want to include that as well. Thanks so much dubyshoo....I really got a clear view from your detailed info and explanations. But u didn't say about the POF and for how long it should stay in one's account. Thanks for your time too. I read your experience on your IELTS prep and I got encouraged as I'm a nursing mom too and trust me my boy worries a whole lot. Lol. |

tyosho: No need for POF if gunning for the 189 visa. You only need proof of funds if going for 190 and even at that not all states demand it.Some states require it,some don't. It nothing to be worried about unless you're sure you skill is sponsored by a state that requires POF Thanks Bro for the Reply...Well Understood Now, this is because my hubby and his close friend arguing on the same matter. ome240: Basically, there's no fixed requirement for work experience. It varies. Some folks who grab maximum points from English Test don't bother about claiming experience points like our bro Jukeblam. The number of years of experience however can contribute to adding points when its 3years and above. So it all depends. Conduct a point test on your case now and determine where you can get points to add up to 60 and start working on it. Just a word of advise, whatever you want to do, don't hesitate as laws change everyday. Some occupations have already been flagged for possible removal from the SOL List by July 2017. Mine is one of them. So make hay while the sun shines. I also graduated from FUTO 2003. Assessing authority will depend on the nominated occupation. POF will also depend on the visa subclass, but is common with state nominated visa 190. Some states are not stringent with POF. e.g Tasmania. They only require you to declare that you have sufficient funds to settle in when you arrive. Different states have their own criterion. Visa 189 does not require POF before a grant is given. Best of luck Thanks for your speedy response bro. Graduated in 2008. I didn't get the GRANT meaning,I don't know what that is? Also where can I get the POF details and amount. I'm a family of 5,but have my under 18 female cousin waiving with me and I hope to relocate with her too..thus making us 6. |

humanshado: You can use your one year NYSC work experience but make sure you state it as paid employment
You will need to assess your degree with ANMAC. Check their website for details through the link below.
http://www.anmac.org.au/assessment-process
Your degree from India is acceptable so you don't have any problem with that.
You can take IELTS anytime you are ready and you have the cash to pay . Check british council website below for registration and other details.
https://www.britishcouncil.org.ng/exam/ielts/dates-fees-locations
Good luck! Please I would like to know how to access and verify my UK MSc certificate, although my first degree was in Nigeria. I believe I must verify my Nigerian Certificate? How much POF do I need for a family of 5. thanks |
