Jman06: Some of u here are making alot of errors with ur grammar and nobody is mocking u about it.If only we all recieve a dose of this kind of ridicule whenever we err...this would have been a perfect world.I believe the presenters of the tv program should have provided a cover for the man by not dragging the question on nscdc website further, they could have sorted that with the man off camera. If i were their boss i would sack them at slightest error but i am sure nemesis will catch up with them some day for causing so much shame to a family. The problems in Nigeria are enough to make a man forget even his own name sometimes.
oh! Please, it is this mindset of yours that breeds mediocrity everywhere in Nigeria.
the man in question made no grammatical error, he as the state head of NSCDC doesn't know his organization's website and showed no morality to admit that.
that action undermines everything a competent leader should stand for.
make no mistake, nobody expect him to know it all but having the consciousness to admit it is where he screwed up.
liken it to nairaland like you inferred up there, there are loads of ignorant people here and some good enlightened ones take the pains to educate them, what do they get in return? insults.

so when you refuse to learn at home, you refuse to learn in school, refuse to learn on nairaland, one day, you will learn on channel's tv, what goes around comes around.

I don't know how competent you are in your endeavor but kindly note that my demeanor from which I speak is allergic to incompetence in any form.
Politics › Re: Power Generation Was 6000MW In 1990... True?? by jpphilips(m):
taharqa: My frnd, keep yr mouth SHUT there. Yea, I forgot to mention Shell's Afam, which was not even producing up to 500MW then. Egbin that I talked about was not even producing near its 1320MW capacity in 1990 (i doubt its 6 units were complete and available then), whilst all d Dams didn't produce up to 1500MW at any time. So how d helll did Nigeria produce up to 6000MW in 1990?? Nigerian total Installed Capacity is still just above this 6000MW TODAY, even afta many new Power Plants and additional units hv bn built since 1990. So what happened to those Plants which purportedly produced 6000MW in 1990? Maybe Earthquakes ate them up, ko? Empty heads bliving anytin they read in d newspapers...
you see why I find it difficult to educate half humans like you.
You made a claim that it was impossible, I enlightened you which you admitted you forgot about shell's Afam and oji power plants, your way of saying thanks is ''shut up''.

nobody is saying he has proof that Nigeria was generating 6, 000mw in 1990, my response was to you who mentioned a few plants that you know at the time claiming its all we ve got.

mentioning Egbin, kainji etc as the only plants before 1990 is crass ignorance .

calabar power station was there before 1990 and don't tell me your empty head forgot again .

oji river power plant was there before 1990. actually it was installed in 1956.

sapele power plant was there also cos it was commissioned in 1978.

ughelli power plant was there before 1990 actually, it was commissioned in 1966 just before the war.

kainji, jebba and Shiroro were all there pre 1990.

what I don't understand is why a non living thing like you will conclude it is impossible when you dont even know how many plants that existed pre 1990?

those ones I wrote were the ones I could just remember now but I am certain that under ECA and NDA, we had a lot of power plants.

make a list, sum their capacities before opening your dirty anatomical contour.

The OP may have exaggerated the figure but you need to make a list before you can refute, that is how human beings behave, oh! sorry I forgot you are a non living thing.

This was your comment to remind you how stup!! d you sound.

Sometimes I wish citizens can recall their reps and senators because these guys are no different from the ones in Nigeria who earn money, live in the best houses, have the best healthcare but don't give two fuccks about the average Joe who work to keep the govt functioning.

The Debt ceiling will be a tough battle, one that will make or break the U.S., everyone is anticipating it because the right wingers are full of shitt. They can afford to spend more than $8billion funding Bush's war but when the economy is in a sink hole, they rather defund education and healthcare and award their cronies in defense billions of $$$ in contracts.

taharqa: Even in respects to Total Install Capacity, 6000MW by 1990 is still impossible.... Egbin is 1320MW (and I doubt it was even fully functional at this time); Kainji, Shiroro and Jebba are together not up to 2000MW. These were d major Power plants at that time, so where did he get his 6000MWs from??
you know very little about this country. Afam power plant was operational during the civil war, it was the Nigerian forces that took it out to keep Biafra in darkness. However, since after the war, Afam has experienced several upgrades till date.

there was another power plant in oji, visited that one on excursion even before 1990.
truth is; the military weren't as bad as the civilians painted them.
though I believe their abuse of human right, gave birth to an era of less impunity hence the development we witnessed at the time, unlike now.

Afam was doing above 400mw in 1990.
Politics › Re: Rivers State VS Rwanda: Why Amaechi Should Is An Underachiever by jpphilips(m):
Abagworo: The problem with your type is that you judge based on assumption. Are you saying we should display pictures of 350 schools? How many kilometers is the Roads done by these people? How many of the roads required total urban renewal, demolitions, and deep or heightened drainage? The Owerri-Port-Harcourt road built with complete streetlights, pavements and walkways is more than 40 kilometers long. NTA road is 22 kilometers long and runs through mostly urban area. Amaechi has not been displaying his works and that's why your type do not know or maybe you are playing politics just because Amaechi has issues with Jonathan.
where do you germinate all these figures from? 350 schools?
NTA road is 22 kilometers? its either you are being mischievous or you are fvcking stup!!d.

glory2glory: I will ignore your insults.
But know that emergency medical services is different from primary healthcare service. You don't rush accident victims or life-threatening emergency cases to a health centre but the emergency units of hospitals. And no, the health centres do not handle all cases. They refer cases that require specialist care to the secondary and tertiary centres.
Like I said earlier, if you have pictures of health centres outside Rivers that are much better, why not post them.
Are you aware there are communities with no access to general hospitals, what do you think they rely on for emergency medical services?
the general Hospital distribution in rivers state is one per LGA.
do you have any idea how many communities make one LGA?
the whole of opobo, Ahoda, Abua, have just one general hospital each which other medical options do they have in case of emergency?
I repeat, save for surgeries there is nothing a general hospital does these health care centers dont do, so why do you think they dont deserve an equipment standard for ordinary Ambulance despite all the money Amaechi has spent so far?

like I said previously, most communities rely on phcs for maternity purposes, are you saying emergencies viz complications don't arise from child birth?

out of the proposed 160 phc, only 100 have been completed and one can say its virtually empty despite all the money spent.

you asked me to show you pictures of phc in other states, how many states recieve over 20b monthly from both FG and IGR?

your level of reasoning deserves no further attention.

glory2glory: Are you expecting to see ECG and defibbrilator in health centres? Then you don't undestand what primary health care is all about . How many teaching hospitals in Nigeria has such?
A typical industrial bingo is gradually abusing his freedom of speech,
defibrillators come standard for ordinary ambulance as a resuscitation equipment let alone a primary health care center which Amaechi has spent billions to construct.
in rivers state, save for surgeries, a primary health care center does virtually every thing a hospital does,
are you aware they equally function as maternities and you think it doesnt need a defribulator?

what do you expect to see in a primary health care center? benches, iron beds, desk etc, if so, why is Amaechi's own costing billions?

guy, carry your rabies comot for here.

ph owerri road is a federal road whose contract has been awarded and paid for, the entrance from omagwa to omoku round about till isokpo was started by odili then omehia, amechi is dualizing the isokpo to omagwa axis, at some point his contractors abandoned it while the feds from owerri axis caught up with them.

Abagworo: I see. You are part of those people instigating Eneka people to go to court which lead to the stoppage of that road for 3 years. Let me make it clear to you that an agreement has been reached with Atali, Alimgbu, Rumuokwurusi and Eneka people with regards to that road where it affects either ancestral Obiri or ancestral Oro and not those indiscriminate buildings on government land. That the Government was kind enough to compensate you for building illegally on Government land is commendable. Every Nigerian knows that you have to give 30m clearance before erecting any structure on the highway, unless the structure was there before the construction of the road.
that is not up to you to decide, however, Amaechi said 60% of the billions spent so far went to compensation and here you are admitting that the meager he paid was a favor.

Abagworo: Whichever way we look at it the cost of paying compensation for demolished houses in Port-Harcourt alone surpasses everything in Akwa-Ibom by my estimates. Ada George road had over 500 houses demolished and compensation of roughly 20million. That amounts to about 10billion Naira. Its is same story with Rumuola, Okporo, Old Aba Road, Olu Obasanjo Road, Elekahia Road and NTA Road. Another consideration is the quality of the Roads and not painting. All the Amaechi Roads were built with only sharp sand and they had to dig 5 to 10 feet off the old road and refill. In some cases like that of Olu Obasanjo they were cast with concrete and steel. The entire D-Line has received new drainages and pavements, so has old Port-Harcourt township, Trans-Amadi and Oroazi/GRA. Work is ongoing in several places till this moment. Go to Mother-Cat linking Amadia-Ama and notice the new Rainbow town which used to be a slum. We have about 10 units of 30 storey buildings springing up there. Three have crossed 20 storey as I write. The Port-Harcourt-Eneka-Igwruta Road is ongoing as well and has reached advanced stage. Woji is also ongoing though at early stage.
This nonsense you are typing here will be decided in the court, your amaechi paid 600,000naira for cluster shops on eneka road, 300,000naira for single shops, on the same road, 6million naira for a gas station with 6 underground tanks, all properties were valued by govt valuers, i will put you to shame when we get judgement in court.
