zico2: This is a good motive. I pray it yield a good result. Youths have been sideline for a long time and it needs to stop. Imagine a situation where federal jobs meant for qualified graduates been sold at to political cronies at rate of 100k to 250k, nsitf and civil defence job for instance. For how long re we going to hold our peace. The time is here and something needs to be done. If you have time pls be there. Let the revolution start, we re not fighting for ourselves alone but for the unborn generation. Finally,IF THERE IS ANY POLITICAL CRONY THAT WISH TO DERAIL THIS THREAD,I PROPHESY THAT YOU WL NOT LIVE TO EAT THE FRUITS OF NIGERIA. So shall it be.
the same youths who are used for political thuggery u said are sidelined? gimme a break.

cdoffx: For those who do not understand. When the Arab spring was to start, it started on social networks however this is not going to be like the Arab spring because this association is will not tow the path of violence.
For those saying after getting unemployed why continue staying in the association. The meeting is where the name will be changed this is just to catch attention of all those concerned. It'll rather be something...Against Unemployment which will make it open for every Nigerian[entrepreneur.employed, rich or poor ] who wants to kick against unemployment now and for generations unborn to join.
What you people should understand is that this is not just unemployment fight but equally industrial revolution as its one of the key to solving unemployment.
God bless Nigeria.
industrialization isnt the bane of employment in Naija, corruption is. I believe unemployment hasn't gotten to the stage we are experiencing in reality.

if an unemployed graduate makes the right contact he gets a job, where did the job fall from?
until corruption via nepotism is eradicated, unemployment will continue to thrive.

ehixking: It all started like a joke on nairaland when a post went viral about graduates coming together to form an association or movement to stop unemployment. Most people saw the idea as a very welcomed initiative that will go a long way in influencing governments policies to create a place for unemployed graduates in the National budget.

Graduates have been sidelined for years in Nigeria, jobs are not forthcoming and graduates find refuge in obtaining masters forms while some depend on their parents for daily bread and recharge card. Nigerian graduates play PS2 better than their counter parts in other countries yet some people speak about been entrepreneurs- but where can we find the enabling environment. Take for example a graduate of Agriculture that lived in Lagos all his life wants to start a poultry farm. Most definitely land would be in his feasibility study in which the land use act of 1978 is the first disadvantage, he needs funds-where would he get it, roads to transport from lagos to other point of sale are bad, electricity to power the farm ..nothing to write home about, funds in case of disease outbreak like gomboro or Newcastle disease " nba"

So how can he manage? Should a graduate start small buy rearing 5 chicken, 2goats, 1 sheep....in whose compound? Has he himself even eaten today(chance for Baba landlord to throw your things away)

In the light of these interested graduates has been mobilised from various parts of the Nation to hold the first general meeting in lagos

Venue.---Unilags sport centre
Time.--9 AM prompt
Date...saturday 7th of september

To discuss the way forward to scrap the menace of unemployment
This is an open invitation to the general public and anybody that would like to support morally or any other way you can

God bless us all for more info

naijacutee: This is Nigerian Politican behaviour on a small scale. Someone said if you remove 100 politicians and replace with 100 random Nigerians, Nigeria will still remain the same. People complain that it's the people at the top, when we (Nigerians) are the problem. Someone gets a contract to build roads and the default attitude is "What's in it for me?". Someone asks a question on a forum and the default attitude is "What's in it for me?". Nigerians have no right to insult politicians because they would do exactly the same in their position, as they share exactly the same thinking. Better to say nothing.

Back to the question: Lever Brothers (Now Unilever ) are a pretty old brand in Nigeria, but I don't think their products have been around for 100 years, as the British started bringing these companies in a few years after amalgamation, 99 years ago.

Old brands in Nigeria (at least 50 years old) are ones like Blue Band, Lux, Star beer, Bata, Leventis, Bic. I'll put some more down if I remember.
the poster said it himself dat he is getting paid, that entitles whoever that answers the right to get paid, it is called buisness if you have forgotten,
the poster is not asking to learn rather he is asking to get paid so what's the fuss? Every laborer deserves a wage so says the good book.
Even in our institutions of learning, we pay for their services, the thing with people like you is that you think charity is an obligation, dats wrong, nobody owes nobody sh1t.
Comparing this scenario with Nigerian politicians proves how disconnected you are with the realities on ground.

It cost money to get info and if one is not a charity organisation, commonsense behooves he earns from it. If you decide to give out your for free then thats your problem.

victorv12: Abortion should be legalized. If it's legalized we won't be having all those bastard militants, ritual killers and crazy Nigeria politicians that litters every nook and cranny of our country cursing confusion.

Assuming it was legalized way back, Nigeria won't be having most of the problems we're having now. Abortion should be part of the family planning in our country. We really need abortion clinics in every borough and streets for the next coming generation of these bastards! We must be fully prepared before they bring them into this world.

Because presently, as a country, we don't have the social amenities to sustain the citizens presently not to talk about a girl that mistakenly got herself pregnant or doesn't want to raise a child and was being forced by her family to born it. If such a child is forced to be delivered, mentally, that child can't be sane. The moment you're being forced into this world and not properly groomed by your parents, and installing discipline and respect for the rule of law, all you bring from your mothers womb is anarchy!!

So I think such a child is rather being terminated than to bring destruction into this world in the first place!
Hope you wont mind if your Abortion machines terminate a Soludo, Emeagwali or Iweala carrying fetuses

manny4life: Those asking him to increase his income, if you cannot manage $100, what makes you believe he will manage $1,000? Management is key, this is what separates the U.S. and China today. China is a saving economy no matter how small their citizens earn while U.S. is a spending/credit economy no matter how big their average earners are and Nigeria is gradually copying their template.
"manage" simply means, you dont have enough, now im not talking about spending on frivolities, im talking about taking care of your real needs, you need no savings for that, i will understand it is not easy to create wealth but savings is definitely not the answer, i don't know any rich man that saves, never ever! ask around.

when forbes was rating dangote, did you hear them mention one bank account with 10b usd? its not possible, but you will hear about equities, assets etc, funds are not meant to be saved, they are meant to be tied to productive things if you stand any chance of making it.

what do you think is obj's account balance? just guess!!
