You have made a lot of sense but its not that easy to convince people to see the truth. I'm even finding it difficult to make my sister who is more like my best friend see reasons with me.I can't even tell my mum cos she'll go 'ka-booom!!!' on hearing that I'm now an agnostic. Your sentence should start with 'A LED lamp..... ' not 'An LED lamp....'

Depends on how you call it. If you pronounce it as 'led' then you use 'a' but if you spell it out as LED -/El i: di:/ that's when you can use 'an'.So logically,you two are correct.

And for your lecturer teaching you Quantum mechanics in first year, I would like to know the school but I still maintain that it is wrong. Infact I have listened to lectures on quantum mechanics from MIT, Stanford university, IIT, their whole series of semester lecture on quantum mechanics, none were taught to first year physics students let alone non physics students.
