Israel's most powerful warship provides security for oil installations as fighting escalates in Gaza.

You can see an iron dome system on the flight deck.
With just a single battery installed at the flight deck and if Hamas decide to launch over 20 rocket at the warship, there is a chance they might hit huh

NAF COMMENCES ACTIVITIES FOR 57TH ANNIVERSARY, TO INDUCT NEWLY ACQUIRED AIRCRAFT

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to induct its newly acquired JF-17 multi-role Thunder aircraft into its inventory to add impetus to the ongoing fight against insurgency, armed banditry and other forms of criminality in the Country. The induction ceremony is part of the activities marking the 57th Anniversary celebration scheduled to take place in Makurdi from 19-20 May 2021. This was disclosed today by the Chairman, NAF Day 2021 Organizing Committee, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar while briefing members of the press on the activities lined up for the low-key celebration. With the theme, “Enhancing Nigerian Air Force Airpower Capabilities for Effective Joint Operations in Response to Contemporary National Security Challenges”, the anniversary is aimed at emphasizing the renewed focus on cooperation and collaboration among the Services in military operations. The theme is also in tandem with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao’s vision of “Enhancing and sustaining critical airpower capabilities required for joint force employment in pursuit of national security imperatives”.

In addition to the induction of JF-17, the anniversary would also feature a seminar and aerial display by some NAF platforms. There would also be series of pre-event activities which would take place simultaneously at designated NAF Units across the Country. Speaking further, AVM Abubakar stated that there would be pre-event activities which include Juma’at Service, Church Service and medical outreaches to host communities. He disclosed further that the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) would also be embarking on humanitarian support activities across the 6 geo-political zones of the Country in addition to the launching of NAF Telemedicine facility in Abuja.

Speaking further, the Chairman noted that the seminar scheduled to take place on 19 May 2021 would provide opportunity for seasoned experts to brainstorm on doctrinal development and joint force employment as well as standardization of training and interoperability of equipment in the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The seminar would equally proffer workable strategies aimed at checkmating the myriad of security challenges in the country. The induction of the JF-17 Thunder aircraft and aerial display, the Chairman said, would be conducted simultaneously on 20 May 2021 to mark the end of the 57th Anniversary Celebration.

Imagine for a minute that you are a trained soldier.

In fact, a Lieutenant.

You have a wife and two kids.

Now, imagine that during the quarterly rotation, you were sent to Bornu to fight insurgence (Boko Haram)

On this fateful day, as you were moving with your platoon.

There was an ambush.

Gun fire ensured.

You shot with all you've got.
You know that you have a slim chance of surviving the attack.

As you were running out of ammo, you called john, your buddy, for fresh supply.

No response.

You glanced and saw John's head split into two halves.
By your left is Barry, his torso turn and one of his arm lying 10 ft away.

With nothing to fight with, you made a run for it and took a deep dive into the abondoned crater while bullets were getting fired at you.

You passed out

When you woke, you saw yourself in the hospital.

The doctor came in.
"Officer, you are awake, we did an emergency surgery"
"We had to amputate you"

We are sorry.

You then asked.

'What of my team mates ?"

"Well, you lost 18 men and 2 survivors", the doctor replied. "You and Barry.

Barry is still in intensive care."

Now, 3 months later, at the defence headquarters.

Your commanding officer, General Gida told you.
"You are back, lieutenant "

" Good news!
We rounded up all the terrorist that attacked your platoon after in another battle confrontation."

They are now in rehabilitation center.

"Can I see them?" you asked

'Sure!'

You got wheeled to the center.

They opened the door.

And yes.

' There they are !'

Across the hall,
Young men in white flowing gowns were eating fried and Jellof rice with multiple chicken parts.
Some were drinking wine.

Laughter filled the air.
Having a ball.

You were told they will soon be taken abroad on scholarship.

Government sponsored.

As you were getting back to the generals office.

Just outisde the defence headquarters gate, you saw the wives of your team, now widowed, as they agitate with high voices and placards.

"We have been abandoned!"
"Pay us our husbands benefits!"
"We are hungry"

Just imagine all that.

------

It is the reality of a Nigerian Soldier in the corridor of terrorism.

Despite claiming it repelled the attacks, lost three BTR Armoured Personnel Carriers, Panhard AML-60 and another Melara Mod 56 Pack Howitzer to the terrorists.

Am just wondering how long it takes backup team or gunship to arrive when ever a base is attacked in broad day light, the new service chiefs Need to address this we are wasting too much hardware.

UPDATE ON MISSING NAF ALPHA JET AIRCRAFT

Intelligence report gathered by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) indicates that the Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF475) that went off the radar with 2 crew members on board on 31 March 2021 might have crashed.

The cause of the crash as well as the whereabouts of the 2 pilots remain unknown. The pilots are Flight Lieutenant John Abolarinwa and Flight Lieutenant Ebiakpo Chapele.

Extensive search and rescue efforts are still ongoing by NAF surveillance aircraft as well as NAF Special Forces and Nigerian Army troops on ground.

At this point, the NAF is not ruling out anything regarding the incident. It however remains hopeful that the crew would soon be found and rescued.

Another brilliant Nigerian Air Force video, eliminating terrorist vehicles.

Boko Haram terrorists have a hard time understanding the jig is up. After losing close to hundreds of fighters in recent weeks some Boko Haram commander figured it was a good idea to attack an army base. The attack underscored the illusion of Boko Haram commanders.

Boko Haram insurgents attacked the base in their classic style. Dozens of fighters attacked from four points simultaneously firing mortars and RPGs, hoping to overwhelm the defenders and overrun the base. Remember this was the same tactics used in their attack on the Gudun Bali base last Friday.

The Nigerian army was not gonna fall for this again. They allowed the insurgents close in on the base before engaging. Call for aerial support was delayed to give the attackers a false sense of security.

Nigerian troops reinforced the base with orders not to fire their weapons and reveal their position. It must have felt too easy because the wary insurgents attempted to set up a defensive perimeter in a village called Arkuma but changed their mind.

Turns out the insurgents had been firing on mostly empty structure all along. Nigerian troops opened fire from well concealed positions up close, making their RPGs useless. In their confusion the insurgents attempted to fight their way out the ambush but were picked apart.

At 6 pm seeing the battle was lost the insurgents attempted to salvage defeat by attacking the village of arkuma. They mounted on 15 trucks and and approached the village from different directions simultaneously to wreak havoc. This was when helicopter gunships swooped low and made minced meat of the convoy. Many who survived the strike and ran towards the village on foot were cut down by snipers.
