WorkTheTalk: A senior official of the DSS said that the security agency considers the life sentence as too light a punishment for the crimes allegedly committed by the Ansaru commanders. It seems DSS doesn't understand the psychology of Islamists. Killing them doesn't deter future terrorists, it even fuels them, as they too would like to go to heaven for their rewards. A life imprisonment is the worst punishment for an Islamist terrorist. DSS should take the win and not waste tax payer's money on chasing the death penalty. |

Jibrin Okutepa SAN Legal practice in Nigeria, in its entirely, is inherently unfair. So I don't think anyone can expect the NBA or its elections to be fair. When you have a two-tier lawyer system that confers privileges on some lawyers, thereby conferring privileges on some litigants, you have a system that is not fit for purpose. |

RandDigital: Nigeria's foreign minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu said earlier this month that the situation for foreigners in South Africa was deteriorating and urged authorities to investigate the June 28 killings of two Nigerians, Musa Yunana Joe and Charles Iroegbu, during "the ongoing xenophobic protests and attacks of migrants".
But South African police said the deaths were not connected to the protests. So what were their deaths related to? Have the SAPS carried out an investigation and come out with an official position/report? Any arrests or charges? |

I wonder why spouses feel entitled to each other’s inheritance. If you must get a share, it should be given to you willingly. It should not be by force.

Politics › Re: Sowore Calls For Coroner's Inquest On Mary Habila's Death by JuanDeDios: 9:11pm On Jul 17*. Modified: 10:07pm On Jul 17 |
Image123: When you are ignorant, don't be so bold to attack or judge. Wisdom calls for hearing from the two sides, not judging from one sided accounts and an ignorant standpoint. Nothing fair about ignorance.
My position is not that everyone should close their mouth, but that people should not politicise or do content creation with sensitive issues. Death of someone should not be a gig or side hustle to politicize. Sowore made the call and made folks like you assume that he's calling it first AGAINST Umahi. While the truth is that Umahi has made the same call days before, and still said it on video. All available on the media, but you refused to find out before commenting. Sowore knows your type are many, that's why he made the call in a media trial.
It is not IF Mr Umahi called for an autopsy, the language clearly shows you don't even believe, even with video and picture evidence. There is no where i have stated Umahi's innocence, you see that you are missing the point because you are not listening to the message but the messenger. The point i made was that the opposition political parties like ADC and Sowore are fiddling with you by making it look like Umahi is hiding something, Umahi is guilty and mysterious deaths happen with him, and autopsy MUST be done. They know folks like you will conclude this in ignorance. As for your conjured assumptions, what happened is out there with verifiable facts. Umahi is not your next door neighbour or hostel mate. He is a two time governor, former senator and current minister of the country. What that implies is he cannot do things as privately as you imply. He doesn't live in a one bedroom apartment where the lady died and he quickly hid it before coming outside. Politicians of his calibre have big houses and mini estates where they might not even know everyone there. The said lady has family and has a neighbour alibi. They have both given their statements. Umahi has asked for an autopsy, in fact it is her family that doesn't want an autopsy. i'll help you get that and attach seeing you're super lazy and ignorant. In Nigeria, when people die that young, usually, the family want to quickly bury and move on. In many cases, the parents are not allowed to even see the dead or be at the burial. So, to some extent, i understand the father, nonetheless, those are the verifiable FACTS on ground. No need assuming or quickly judging when there are clear facts.
Again, i have NOT defended anything here. i have not said that Umahi is innocent, neither have i said that he is guilty. i have not said that Umahi should not be investigated, prosecuted or punished. What i have said is that politicians like ADC, and in this thread particularly, Sowore should not turn this into a gig or side hustle. Umahi has already called for an autopsy. Let's hope that an autopsy is carried out. Your likes are saying Umahi should be in prison, he should not be walking free, he should resign. Yet, i am the one accused of defending. SMH You need to be studied in a sociology lab. I mean, you politicise everything – very quickly. Someone said something innocently praising Tinubu about a rescue. You jumped on the thread to say this shows who the person will vote for. Until then, no one had talked about who who will vote for. Sowore called for an autopsy, you jumped on it to say he’s “politicizing” things, thereby politicizing his call yourself. Yet you accuse others of politicizing. And you think a comment = a judgment. I did not pronounce anyone guilty, so I’m not sure what you’re on about hearing from both sides. A summary of my position this: SOWORE SAID NOTHING WRONG. LET THERE BE AN AUTOPSY. This is what you call a judgment, Mr Image123? I should hear from both sides before saying this? Smh. You really should be embarrased that you can’t comprehend what a fair comment is. Let there be an autopsy. You should join the call until it’s done – nothing to do with what Mr Umahi said to impress people like you (see? I guess he knows your type are many, LOL) or what Sowore said to impress people like me. You believe Mr Umahi’s sincerity. Well and good. I don’t care. Because it’s not important to the call for autopsy. What I typed up there is not because I don’t believe him – it’s to show you that his call proves nothing. THE FACT A BODY WAS FOUND IN YOUR HOUSE DOESN’T MEAN YOU KILLED THE PERSON. ALSO, THE FACT YOU CALLED FOR A PROBE DOESN’T MEAN YOU DID NOT KILL THEM. I really shouldn’t be explaining this for you. But, hey, it’s you. Thanks for pasting Mr Umahi’s CV. If you read what I wrote and your understanding of it is that I said Mr Umahi visited her family and did those things, you’re really dull. No, I’m not aware he paid any such visit. I’m telling you that his call doesn’t prove innocence. You’re right you did not explicitly defend anything. But you've attacked people for the offence of commenting that there should be a probe. Your reason? Sebi Umahi already called for it – why are you people ignorant? You take your job a bit too seriously. You lash out at anyone or anything you remotely suspect is not being on your side. That’s why you come across as you do. Umahi called for a probe, so what? That should stop the rest of us from calling for it? Mtcheew. |
