Business / Re: Naira gain: Pressure Mounts On FX Hoarders To Sell Off Dollars by JuanDeDios: 11:36am On Mar 24
lexy2014:

how is that different from what the government is doing right now?

are you aware the even China defends its currency against the dollar?
The present gains are not the result of the misguided borrowings to shore up the naira people were talking about some weeks back. So what are you on about?

It won't, this is Nigeria. Cosmetic approach no dey last.

We all know that the fall isn't a natural one, nature will soon take its place
Not sure it's cosmetic. If it's true they've paid off liabilities to foreign companies and foreign reserves are rising, that would not be enough for substantial gains in the long term, but it's not cosmetic.

• Sell forex in your possession as an act of patriotism, Oluwo charges Nigerians

https://thenationonlineng.net/dollar-crash-pressure-mounts-on-fx-hoarders-to-sell-off/
This is a useless call. Since the naira is gaining on its own, that trend will continue if the fundamentals behind it are real. This does not require any help for Oluwo or whoever. Besides, if the gains continue, that will on its own trigger a reaction from people, and those who can afford to sell will sell their fx, whatever Oluwo or anyone else says or doesn't say.

Senator Uba Sani @ubasanius

In the name of Allah the Beneficient, the Most Merciful, I wish to announce that our Kuriga school children have been released.

Previous thread: Bandits Kidnap LEA Primary School Pupils & Staff In Kuriga, Chikun LGA Kaduna

Released, not rescued. I'm happy the kids are home, but I can't say I'm not concerned and praying that May God help us.
Politics / Re: Kuriga School Children, Who Were Kidnapped By Bandits, Have Been Released by JuanDeDios: 10:10am On Mar 24
ValCon888:
Yes, it's good news they were released. Still, there's a lot that is left unsaid.

Firstly, they were "released" not freed. Which means whoever kidnapped them let them go.

Also, the statement makes no mention of the kidnappers and whether they were killed, or caught and handed over to the authorities.

Which only points to one thing; ransom was paid.

If you don't get to the root of a problem, it will continue to reoccur.
It will be sad if ransom was paid. Very sad, because they'll just kidnap more. Yes, these questions must be asked.
Sports / Re: 13th All-African Games: Final Medal standings as Nigeria Finishes Second by JuanDeDios: 8:21am On Mar 24
fergie001:
The 2023 All African Games which began on March 8 in Ghana has come to a close with Nigeria finishing overall second with 47 Gold, 34 Silver & 40 Bronze medals.

Team Nigeria led in the Athletics event with 11 Gold, 6 Silver, 5 Bronze medals and Boxing category with 8 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze medals.

Like in the All-African Games in 2015 and 2019, Nigeria finished second-best to Egypt with host Nation Ghana, out of the top 5.

Congratulations, Team Nigeria
102 gold! With second placer getting only 47. Be like say everybody go there go carry bag for Egypt. Those Pharaohs don't mess around.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Graphic Footage Of TERRORISTS Caught By Russia Forces (photos) by JuanDeDios: 7:09am On Mar 24
Afrobasic:

You are saying another thing.

These are confirmed terrorist, due process was already carried out. Did you not see the photo evidence and report from the OP? Abi, you think standing in front of a judge is the only way to confirm guilt?

Besides, you want to compare stealing in traffic to killing 60 people and injuring 100a more unprovoked? Nigerian JJ is stupid, no debating that. But for this case oh, I fully support what Russia is going to do to those moslems.
No, I'm not saying another thing. Yes, standing before a duly constituted court is the only to CONFIRM guilt. The day it's you (God forbid) in that Agege market, the way you're doing here is how someone will be making an emotional argument: "Do you know how he dragged the necklace of off her neck and nearly broke it? Did you see how they pushed the poor girl and she nearly died?" It may take a court to question the girl to see if she's remembering correctly. To ask if any other person saw you that day.

All JJ is stupid, not just Nigerian. But like I said, pray you never find out.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Graphic Footage Of TERRORISTS Caught By Russia Forces (photos) by JuanDeDios: 6:19pm On Mar 23
Afrobasic:

In an extreme case like this, yeah.

That Moslem killed 60 innocent civilians.
Even if someone is accused of burning down a village with the 1000 people in it, a due PROCESS of ESTABLISHING GUILT is the way to go. The day some girl will point a finger at you in Agege market as the guy that robbed her in traffic last year (because you resemble the thief) and people will surround you instantly, hauling tires and looking for fuel and matches, you will understand.

Well, your last line explains your post and reveals your thought process. You hate questions. In fact, you think there's no need for them: once someone points, and kill should follow. Smh.

Since the surgery can come with its own aftereffects (can be anything from mild to serious), I think you should at least include the alternative approaches being suggested in your list of options. PAUSE.
Autos / Re: CNG For Domestic Use by JuanDeDios: 6:25am On Mar 23
GAZZUZZ:
I just completed this CNG retrofit on a 2009 Ford F150 with a V8 4.6L natural aspirated Engine .

The vehicle is now fitted with 3 CNG tanks with a combined capacity of 165L (48 SCM @210bar)

Vehicle now boasts of 300km Highway travel on 48SCM which is an equivalent of ₦9600 @ ₦200 per SCM. For better description the distance of Lagos to Benin is about 295km.

Now this is nothing new to CNG retrofits as it brings down the cost of fueling most vehicles by 70% in ₦.

What is unique about this vehicle is it's ability to provide Natural Gas for external use for equipment like Generators, and cooking utensils.

This again brings down the cost of powering your petrol powered gen by about 70%.

In place of LPG it is currently 200% cheaper to burn Natural gas as against LPG.

We have an abundance of natural Gas reserves in Nigeria , hopefully we can all tap into this God given free gift to lower our expenses.

God bless Nigeria.

This is not a case of kidnapping so there is no victim. And nobody is going home. If "phantom kidnapping" is not yet a crime in the books of Lagos State, they will all be charged with attempt to obtain under false pretences, wasting police time, and whatever else catches the prosecutor's fancy.

The life of man is still nasty, brutish and short.
You can eat well, not smoke, exercise. And go to church.
And still end up with diabetes or arthritis or COPD or kidney disease or all of the above.
Because you were f###d the day you were born, doomed to be a drug addict swallowing pain like aspirin.
Sometimes you're not even sure if you're living or dead.
Or just an object for fate to experiment.

In any way I don't support the killing of Ijaw people by Yoruba president, but I think that Ijaw people has seen through the eyes of Igbos especially people of Imo state. When Military will cause havoc in the city and then come out to deny what they did and blame the victims. Then the whole country especially Asari Dokubo and Reno Omokiri will be the loudest blaming the victims

Small small, everyone will see that this is not a sane country

I certainly don't trust the Pakistani army to aim a bomb correctly and not massacre innocent people. Not that the Taliban cares about "women and children" anyway. They'd only care if the bomb hit a Quran and tore it.

A Nigerian man has lost his life after experiencing heart complications believed to be linked to freshly painted walls.

According to a post by Senator Shehu Sani, the man undertook the task of painting his room and, tragically, decided to sleep in it the same night while the paint was still wet. This decision would prove to have fatal consequences, as he later developed severe heart complications.

In his post on social media, Senator Shehu Sani expressed his condolences, writing:

Senator Shehu Sani
We need more awareness about these things.
