Goke7:

so christians were not killed under pastor bishop goodluck ebele jonathan abi? mhen you are beginning o sound petty, afenifere lost its steam after pa abraham adesanya passed on cos no charismatic leader was able to emerge in mold of the ajasins and pa adesanya. No yoruba person oppose restructuring it's just the pdp sympathizers like odumakin, ffk and co that are making it a fuss as if they were the orginators of the idea. The whole country has to to agree on restructuring just like it has to agree on the fight against corruption, until then consultations will continue which is happening now even in the north.

What do you mean by'we can contain the Igbos'? That is degrading and insulting. Use more diplomatic words like we can cohabit with the Igbos. Thanks
Alcatraz005:
I realize my message has hurt a lot of my people. The truth must be said notwithstanding. The hallmark of omoluabi is the entrenchment of internal democracy. We must disagree to agree and that is why we are the most progressive tribe in the nation. We must not capitulate to feudalistic forces who seek to use religion to enslave us. At least we know we can contain the igbo but this other people are much more fierce warriors who prevail by conquest. Evidence abound about their exploits which our fore fathers resisted with all they had. We must not fail to demand and obtain a workable system that favors all.

Eternal vigilance is the price for freedom. There is a palpable fear that half of our population might compromise on our freedom. This is not about a ploy to divide us. Just a call for vigilance.

You think God will come from heaven to fight your battles. There are decision you as a Christian need to make to uphold your religious right. I hope you know turkey which is perfect example was once a Christian nation. It's this same carelessness, non chalance and political correctness that brought them where they are today.
I never thought in this nation we I mean Christians and Muslims will ever fight over the educational curriculum, but it happened even recently. If you really are a Christian, I would say let's be wise.
Goke7:

your concerns are appreciated but if God be for us, who can be against us, why must we live in fear if we truly believe in God.
Politics / Re: Why Should I Hate FFK, Ayo Fayose Or Any Leader That Protects Christians? by julietm123: 1:06am On Sep 19, 2017
Yoruba Christians, una don dey wake up. It's well. It's never too late. The voice of Christians must become stronger. The Christians in your society must become active politically. Yakkasai said what he said based on the fact that yoruba muslims hold more political power than the Christians, and their opinions always carries the day. May God help you guys.
Statsocial:
I have thoroughly considered what the future of the South West would look like with the exit of the South East and no matter how I look at it I conclude that it is highly dangerous for the South West to remain in a Nigeria without the South East. The exit of the S/East makes the West politically weak and vulnerable. It would make Nigeria predominantly Islamic(no offense to moderate and Yoruba Muslims) and the Christians in the "new" Nigeria would have to settle for being second class citizens. Of course there is not a problem with having more muslims(don't get me wrong at all) but that secularism would go down the drain pretty fast if a strong south can not successfully check the religious excesses of the North.

For example, it took the SW, SE, SS to resist the Child bride bill that was put forward by the North some years ago. We wouldn't be able to have resisted that bill without the SE lawmakers vote. Meaning if SE representatives were absent in Nigeria then that bill would have passed because South West can not have enough rep to pass or stop a bill in the new Nigerian national assembly.

Some Northern states today don't allow alcohol sale or consumption and even destroy it whenever found in the North. I know very well that religious southerners are against alchohol too but are not willing to use the law to enforce people against taking it.

What about the time when MBGN contestants were 'chased' out of Nigeria because they dressed "indecently" and the pageantry event had to hold outside Nigeria.

In a new Nigeria without the SS and SE people like Denrele, Bobrisky, Bisi Alimi could end up in jail(NB: I don't agree with what these guys do. But do they deserve jail? Certainly not)

Yes we are conservative in the South West but do we want a state where people are mandated to do things we see as morally right rather than do them because they believe in doing so.

The values and priorities of the North is very different from that of the South West- though we are deeply godly and very cultural yet we value Liberty and Freedom. I understand that Yoruba Muslims may feel that a nation with the North can work I would tell you otherwise. While the fate of we Yoruba Christians would be worse off in a Nigeria without Igbos the Yoruba Muslims wouldn't fair better either. If you doubt you should ask how the Kwarans are fairing politically in a region called "North Central ". During the Ibadan summit that held some days ago some "foreign" unscrupulous people tried dividing us along religious lines but thanks to smart people who didn't buy into such nonsense. But we would continue to deal with such divide and conquer tactics if we remain in this country without the Igbos.

We all do well to heed the instruction of the great sage, Awolowo who once said there is no way the Yorubas would stay in a Nigeria where the East secedes. We do not have the moral right to stop the SE from aspiring to secede because it doesn't pay us. The SE has the eternal right of self determination. But we can begin to debate our position forthwith. Do we remain with Nigeria where we become the part of the south the North would look on with suspicion or form a nation where the Yoruba race can fully express her Culture, Language and Heritage and put religion where it belongs-out of our constitution.
Politics / Re: Why Should I Hate FFK, Ayo Fayose Or Any Leader That Protects Christians? by julietm123: 12:55am On Sep 19, 2017
Well we are not northerners who marginalize based on religion. I believe their is a small population of igbo muslims ,but I doubt you have ever heard them complain the way the northerner Christians do. Every man is free to practice whatever religion he believes in as far as you don't use it to disturb others. cool
WisdomFlakes:
The Christians are nothing special and no better than Muslims in this country. They commit crimes just as much as muslins do so this op is just fooling himself by pandering to religious sentiments. OBJ and GEJ were Christians and contributed their bit to bringing Nigeria to where it is today. I am more concerned about the fate of the young Jewish religion that was catching fire in the SE before Kanu's fall from grace. Hope the SE Christians won't start marginalizing and oppressing them.

Every rational Nigerian knows who the terrorists are.,even those being bombed in the north know who the terrorist are. So sorry.

KunkAcid:
grin shocked grin

If this is true,

I hope the Eastern governors will reciprocate this kind gesture done to them by PMB for ordering a withdrawal of soldiers from the streets of Abia by giving up Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu may have had good intentions but his strategy was simply a far cry from civilization.

He invited the wrath of Buhari,
He invited the NA for a dance,

Now, that they came to do the python dance, we have all discovered that Nnamdi kanu is a cripple because cripples don't dance.

I only pity the families of those who lost their lives within the past few days. Nobody should call it sacrifice because it wasn't. They were victims of foolishness & misguidance.

In case the easterners don't know, if there ever arises a war again in Nigeria because of IPoB, they stand no chance of victory because they are greatly disadvantaged.

The NA will use them for cheap target practice. Mind you, there is no Sambisa forest in the East.

…moves to counter Kanu, IPOB at UN
Soni Daniel, Northern Region Editor

As President Muhammadu Buhari arrives the United States to address the United Nations General Assembly, Northern leaders have raised the alarm that the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has mobilized Nigerians living in the country to attack the president.

The Arewa people under the aegis of Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, alleged on Sunday in a mail sent to Vanguard that the plan by IPOB sponsors was to humiliate President Buhari, who is billed to speak at UNGA.

In the mail signed by the Spokesman for the CNG, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the northern leaders said that the action was also intended to further provoke the northerners and incite the world against the Nigerian leader and his government.

But the northern group vowed to make appropriate response to the IPOB provocation by taking its position against he antic of the proscribed organization to the UN.

The northern group however hailed the South-East governor’s for proscribing IOPB once it was declared a terrorist group by the Defense Headquarters, saying that they had been vindicated by such declarations.
CNG also lauded the governments of Abia, Rivers and Plateau States for promptly arresting the move by IPOB to set the country on war path and kill innocent Nigerians in the process.

The northern group said, “We must state here that our position that IPOB be proscribed, its activities be declared as acts of terror, and its leaders be accordingly treated in the interest of a greater, peaceful and united Nigeria has to a large extent been vindicated which is also reassuring and encouraging.

“We also wish to state that we have a priviledged information that IPOB sponsors are mobilizing their members in the Diaspora to humiliate our dear President Muhammadu Buhari in New York where he is billed to address the United Nations General Assembly.

“We call on Nigerians to as well overlook this planned unpatriotic action by the IPOB supporters as it is nothing but another antic to provoke reactions.

“We assure all peace loving Nigerians that CNG is also preparing to counter IPOB’ foreign propaganda efforts by compiling relevant facts to be presented personally to the UN soon.

“Finally, we reiterate the call for calm and tolerance as the authorities diligently carry out their duties.”

OK, we don't hear. Good nyt.

Nah.
Boko Haram could do this because - for the most part - their struggle is ideological and driven by religion.

Niger Delta militants were largely driven by abundant opportunities to bunker oil. Pl us they had their finger on the lifeblood of the nation, giving them massive leverage.

IPOB doesn't have the ability to drastically impair oil exports. The Biafra struggle for many does not run anywhere near as deep as the Boko Haram credo, and they can count on far smaller levels of support.
All they'll succeed in doing is to prevent any sane investor from investing in the region.

It'll be interesting to see where IPOB goes from here...

This small population you are talking about is where. Is residents or south easterners generally? I don't agree with the population figure from the Npc.
The region must all have six /7states for equity, peace and justice.
Obi1kenobi:

And I'm still making the point that by far the smallest region with by far the smallest population having the least number of states is perfectly equitable. Your standards of equity seems to be every region having the same number of states regardless of size and population. That is not equitable to me. It makes sense that the Northern states with bigger populations and far bigger landmass (imagine how many kilometres of road you need to connect communities in Borno or Niger and compare it with a small state like Anambra) would have more states to ease the administrative complexity.
Secondly, this contradicts the restructuring quest. If we're truly serious about devolution of powers from the centre and true federalism with states as federating units and resource control and all that stuff, the campaign should be about viable administrative units and not creating more states. That would mean we're deceiving ourselves because what the state creation appeal would mean is that we're still looking for how to scrounge more "oyel money" from the Federal government instead of how we'll generate more of our own money.

What about areas cut off during state creation? Egbemas are in river and delta states. I was even surprised that there are Igallas in Anambra.i also learnt the Igallas in Enugu state are agitating to join their brethren in Kogi. There must total state creation all over Nigeria. This is one of the problem here. People are forced to cohabit in the end you keep hearing complaint of marginalization. I remember when Odili wanted to contest presidency, the ijaws clearly called him an igbo man.quite all right, he is Igbo but from the Ss. He was rejected.
Few days ago, the presidency released a statement saying they gave igbos 2cashcow portfolio of petroleum minister and cbn Governor .yes they are Igbos but in the SS. We want all Igbos in the south east.

I can bet you if yorubas agitate for more lgas, the Yoruba muslims are ready to shoot it down as far as that's what their masters up north wants. No wonder yakkasai was bold enough to say yoruba population is 65% muslim.smh
Throwback:
States are not created for fun.

What is the land mass and population of the SE to merit even the 5states that it has?

Whoever each region must have the same number of states, else why are some 6 states while one is 7 states?

So the real question is why was the SE needlessly partitioned into 5 states that is not merited?

What do you mean by how small the South East is. There are areas that were cut off from the southeast during state creation. I hope when people from Kwara and Kogi stat making noise about joining the south western you will remember your statement.
Creating additional state doesn't mean it has to be from the existing 5state. Anioma has been clamoring for state creation. I hope you know they are south easterners in the SS.
I have relatives in the SS,i mean Anioma and I think same can be said for a lot of Igbos. The Aniomas want to join their brethren in the South East. Being from Onitsha we are one people. We are umuezechima and we want our brethren in Anioma to join us in the south east.
